  1. David, Just a thought, I have bad Arthritis in my left shoulder and recently had a stroke where my left arm lost most of its motion. I picked up a therapy shoulder pulley from amazon and it helped immensely for range of motion and shoulder strength. Not sure if you have something like this but using it daily help alleviate the pain and now I'm just short of full motion. Not sure if it would help you but. . . . . 2. Congats!! A future Venture Owner.
  3. My wife had one for about 3 years and there was nothing wrong with it. Never any issues. she stopped riding out of fear (and weak shoulders). She had a close call on a ride that scared her pretty bad. The spyders do take a lot more shoulder input than a bike or trike.
  4. Well I have the bike home now. a lot lighter in the wallet though. talking to the mechanic they had to nearly disassemble the entire rear end to get to the last bolt on the fuel pump. Right after they gave me the quote (3 weeks ago) I suffered a stroke so had to have a friend ride it home. I won't be riding for a couple of months. I lost control of my left side. I can now walk and working on the arm so I will get there. I did tell the guy I blame them lol. That wasn't cheap, but really not bad for what they had to do.
  5. I had a similar issue. I had to basically pry up with my fingers. Once I got it open I cleaned the latch well with brake cleaner and the applied some light oil/grease.
  6. Yeah, I thought I was getting them Guten tight but I developed a leak on one of the drain plugs. Kept telling myself not tight enough. I actually drained the Oil and replaced the crush washers. Right now the bike is in the shop for a fuel pump. I will put this on it and see how close I am.
  7. I've always been a little frustrated when the oil drain plugs are in a location where you cannot get a torque wrench. The 2018 Venture has 3 drain plugs and 2 are close enough to the frame where getting a socket on them is impossible unless you have very low profile wabble sockets. I saw this in a YouTube video and ordered one off of amazon. I have not had a chance to try it as my bike is in the shop for a fuel leak. Has anyone seen it and had a chance to use it?
  8. I'm going to have to put it in the shop. After pulling the battery, connecting jumper cables to provide power it is coming from under the fuel pump area. I don't have the skill set or the tools to get under that area easily. Using a small mirror I could see the area but just couldn't get to it and have the confidence I could get everything back together. I've got a weekend trip to the kids planned and several business trips lined up. The Yamaha dealer here charges a storage fee if you cannot pick the bike up right away so it will be 2 weeks before I can get it there.
  9. I followed him on YouTube a long time ago. He's definitely moved over to the e-bikes but he hasn't posted there in a couple of years.
  10. Appears to be a fuel line or the fuel pump. It's actually under the seat. When I get home from this trip I am looking to pull the fuel pump cover and check. The I can call the shop.
  11. Glad to hear you're up and running. Mine has a fuel leak. Looks like it is below the fuel pump. Traveling on Business right now and will try to get it int the shop Thursday.
  12. People in our office there would comment that Bourbon St smelled like urine for long after.
  13. I was just searching a FB group for Error 12 and found 2 posts. Both bikes had to have their starter replaced.
  14. I have not had this issue and I really don't even recall reading about it.
  15. I got stuck in NOLA for Mardi Gras one time. Had a business trip there that week and was in a hotel downtown. PIA. Really soured me on Mardi Gras. Just not interested in it. I know a lot of locals will leave the area during Mardi Gras. Our office there actuall closes on 'Fat Tuesday' because you can't get into work.
  16. It's a Beautiful day in the neighborhood. Just west of Houston
  17. Back to normal for this time of the year in Houston. Actually, expecting potential record highs in the low 80's. Rode to the office Monday and Tuesday.
  18. Yep, we had multiple issues because we were out of town when it hit. We lost power during a week of sub-freezing temps. Our Sprinkler system back flow valve cracked, pool pump cracked, and our tankless water heater (which was in the attic) cracked inside the unit. I did most of the repairs myself and still spent close to 3,000 to fix it all. Luckily a neighbor saw the sprinkler break and turn off our water or it would have been a lot worse.
  19. Well for them it appears to be. This is my backyard, about 35 miles west of Houston. just a dusting. It is coming down harder now and they say we could see as much s 6". I dowbt that. High is expected to be 38 and the low tonight 17.
  20. Growing up in NE Ohio we always put the water lines at least 32" underground. My dad was a pipefitter at Ford so we put the majority at 40". When we moved to Houston area about 20 years ago our first house had the main water line in iron pipe coming out of the ground and then into the house. To top that off the hot water tank was in the attic. I asked the realtor what idiot was doing this type of work and she said that's how it's done here.
  21. Not as cold as y'all but should get down to about 17 here in the Houston area. Also, Snow 4 - 6" which they just don't see here. They are putting Brine on the roads. I have to try and fly out Wednesday morning, should be interesting.
  22. Well, I was in Irvine CA for the wildfires (actually for work not for the fires) the 1st half of the week and came home to Houston in the low 30's. No snow though. That was a reason why we left northern Ohio.
  23. Nope, Government controlling the information flow.
  24. Belated Happy New Year everyone. Spent the day with little to no technology. It was actually a nice day until I was pulled into the New Orleans Terrorist attack for our office status, reaction and planning. Then 4 hours of non-stop emails and phone calls. Everyone from our company was safe but there was one employee that was evacuated because he was a couple houses away from the rental house the terrorist was using.
  25. Yes it was a good morning and a good ride to the office. 54 degrees when I left the house.
