I rarely leave home, go for a ride on nice days, but when I am around anyone in public, I wear a mask. Craig

For 2500 bucks I would not think twice about buying that bike. I always thought that color combo was one of the best on the RSV. After you ride her a bit, she will become your new favorite bike I bet. Hope she is still there for you on tuesday and you make the deal, cant wait to hear how it works out. Craig

Millwauki always made great tools, no doubt about it. As a remodeling contractor I needed nailers, power miterboxes and woodworking tools. Back then Mill. tools were mostly for plumbers, electricians etc, have they come out with a line on nailers and saws, just curious. I have a 3/8" corded hammer drill from Mill. must be 35 yrs old and it was used hard, still works and never rebuilt. Craig

I went with Dewalt, since I have all their other tools and a whole bunch of their batteries and chargers. Havent let me down yet. The cordless hedge trimmer is making some weird noises tho:think: Craig

Been a few days, wondering if cleaning things up with alcohol helped with smoking? Curious minds:fingers-crossed-emo Craig -
New to me 2008 Venture not running right!!
cecdoo replied to Flash105's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I would make sure the tank vent is clear by inserting a copper wire or the like in there, then blow air thru vent hose to be sure its clear. Then check fuel pump is working properly, they are known to act up. At what speed are you going into 5th gear, these motors like to rev, it wont pull if you are dropping it into 5th at 35mph. You ought to be going into 5th at 65mph. When you say it runs fine in 1st thru 4th, can you hit rev limiter in each gear? If so you are going way faster the 65. I am sure you will get lots of other ideas, I always start with the easy stuff first. Oh and welcome to the family. Good Luck, Craig -

How to tell if front has been lowered
cecdoo replied to Dbarbee's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Look at top of forks where schrader valve is. That top should be flush with tree, if the fork is thru and sticking up above tree, it has been lowered. If its sticking up 3/4" its been lowered that amt. Hope this helps. No need to dis-assemble anything, no tools required. Craig -
Sorry to hear this Chuck, will keep you and your family in our thoughts. Try to find a memory that makes you smile each day...it helps. Craig

Hey if it ever warms up here in Pa. take a 45 min ride over to my place and we can throw the carb tune on her and have you synced in 10 min. Its a good thing you did not ask what time it is.... Think they would have built you a clock:nanner: All in fun guys, I enjoy the banter Craig

I am sorta glad you cancelled, cause after having to cancel the last 2 years, I would have felt like a schmuck having to cancel again this year. Going to miss seeing everyone, but I think you made the rite call. Really hoping we can all get together in NY this year. Craig

Smoke comming from ???
cecdoo replied to Zin's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
I just dealt with the same issue after my 2007 sat all winter. I took a rag and put some denatured alcohol on it, went in that hole and wiped everything off as good as I could. Cleaned the fins, just wiped it all off. Doesnt smoke at all now. Will keep after it till winter when I will do the valves, and gaskets. You could probably spray degreaser in there and hose it down, I didnt want to splash water all over the place. Good Luck, Craig -
Great idea on the oil return can, wish I had thought of that. Those 454 Chevelles were the "beast" back then, a good friend had the 460HP, dark met. green. It would just smoke the tires whenever he nailed it. Those were the days! Craig

Hey Corvairs were great cars! My first car as a matter or fact. I beat the heck out of it, 4spd convertable. Headers, bigger carbs, ran pretty good for a little 6 banger. The only problem I had in the end was blowby at the dipstick. I ended up having to plug dipstick hole to keep from oil spraying all over engine. Ralph Nadar put an end to them, never understood why. I was clocked by Statey doing 105mph, I swore up and down there was no way that little car could go that fast, he wasnt buying it, lost my license! Craig

New to me 2007 royal star venture
cecdoo replied to Jpratt1991's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Hey welcome to the crowd, as far as bars Flanders makes a set for your bike that most guys seem to like. Rick at Buckeye has a complete setup I believe, bars and longer lines incl. Some guys say there is no need to replace lines, just re-route cables. Other guys say they needed new lines./cables. I am sure you will get more info on that from guys who swapped out bars. Craig -

I did not need to remove exhaust when I replaced clutch basket, I just ground down the allen wrench I needed to get behind pipes. There are several links on replacing clutch plates, I followed Skydocs directions because I used his kit and removed the 1/2 disc at bottom of stack. Not a bad job and if you keep bike on sidestand doubt you will loose much oil. Craig
