  2. The Pacific North West all got this storm hit and I never thought about those antenna riding to and from work today. If anyone speaks to He who is not to be spoken of tell him I am glad HE has a great storey to tell.
  3. It is the new age.... bluetooth has become quiet popular out there and seems to be catching on in some parts of the world. Telephone, music, GPS directions and even conversations about the beautiful scenery have been known to be transferred between driver and passenger as well as between different motorcycles.... with NO WIRES attached! Crazey I know but it seems to work. Many are still skeptical that it will continue to grow in popularity but it just might one day show up in cars, motorcycles as well, as a standard feature. Though I feel it unlikely to show up on a Venture from the factory any time soon Scala Rider ( http://www.canadasmotorcycle.ca/scala-rider-g9.html ) makes a fantastic system, differing levels available, it is clear, kinda like the person sitting behind you is speaking with out opening a full face helmet and screaming at the back of your head or chancing a large bug down their throat if they move around with a half helmet on. Oh and did I mention the speakers are no longer made the size of your average hockey puck too so sorry no carving out the inside of your full face to fit the speakers in. Just saying...... We love our Scala Riders.
  4. Question, what is the correct antenna to put this flag on? I do not fly any others flags.
  5. Bert, I wear the JR 11.0 it is open mesh with a removable liner. I bought it at beginning of June, put several thousand kilometers on and have not yet put the liner in. I have had rain jacket over it a few times. I always find my back gets sweaty. My next windshield on the Venture will have vents in it for sure to help cool me some. ride safe
  6. this is almost as complicated as some of those oil questions get........
  7. Pleased to say he is a local guy here. Have a nice day !
  8. The trunk holds two 1/2 or 3/4 helmets but it depends on the brand of full face you have IF it will fit even one. Like what was said earlier... it is a down fall of this model. Hopefully this will be corrected on the 3rd Gen bikes.....
  9. I have two J +More sets for the 3/4 helmets that came with my bike I would be happy to sell. Lori and I use Scala rider between us and do not use CB so give me a call or PM
  10. Anyone from here in Nelson? A very nice 09 I believe,, gold over black in same hotel as me.
  11. First of many I am sure!
  12. Now you know why I have not run out and bought one or two..... the bike came with head sets but they do not fit my helmets and we have no desire to be hard wired to the bike.
  13. there is one.... I have been waiting for someone to tell me that they bought one and works great..... then I will buy one. http://www.spoiledbiker.com/product3898.html
  14. At this sad time may I ad Corry Monteith of the TV series Glee who died over the weekend at 31 yrs of age...... grew up in the Greater Victoria area.
  15. Seems tourist Swifty found yet another cyclist in Victoria....... If they call it tourist season ...... why can we not shoot them ?
  16. I have had just a short time on a second gen, the original tires, I am not sure even what there were they were old hard and crappy. After listening to others chatting about tires... my first gen had Metzlers on it and they were fantastic tires .... for me...... but the majority said Venom's for second gen. That is the way I went, knowing now what I do, I am glad I did not go with Metzlers, I think they would have been too soft for the second gen. As for size of tire, I have a couple opinions that may P some off but my first feeling is that Yamaha spent a lot of time and money with engineers figuring out tire sizes for bikes, if you change tire size you may gain a bit on slow speed but at high speed you may loose some..... Others likely have different ideas, and that is what makes this a great place. I am personally very happy with my Avon tires.... ooh and when they get heated up.... you can smoke them real nice off the line too!
  17. Mike I have problems as a cyclist with auto drivers that do not realize that that lane is a through lane for bicycles. Think of them as Gavel Trucks or even more importantly as a motorcycle lanes..... you have to be aware of what is in then.... you just drove past it....yup you gotta know what is there before you turn.... I think they call it a shoulder check up here in Canada. If you are uncomfortable with them.... don't visit Victoria, we have the highest cycling numbers in Canada.... therefore the most cycling lanes. For fun last month I volunteered to ride my motorcycle as an escort in a local Triathlon, those cyclists.... Olympic class go very fast.... I had to back off to let the fellow I was in lead with to take the corners, I could not corner the Venture as fast as he could his cycle.
  18. to work I can be there in 10 to 12 minutes at rush hour. the way home always seems to take so much longer..... usually a water front circle home.
  19. ..... for caring for little baby Molly who had spent more of her 2 year life with you than at home here in Victoria. Dragonslayer, from across the land we can never say thank you enough for what you do to help keep these children and their families. http://www.cfax1070.com/News/Top-Stories/Baby-Molly-dies
  20. I disconnected my AIS, I believe disconnecting it when you have a popping in the exhaust will only accomplish masking the cause. It is just my opinion....... Find what is causing the problem, be it valve adjust or carbs or exhaust leak. Disconnecting mine definitely helped with the mass explosions in the exhaust but did not "fix" the issue.
  21. It was not too many years ago that our motor vehicle branch felt that only 1/3 of the riders on the road in summer HAD a license. Now riders do a written, if pass you need and escort for 6 weeks minimum, take a skills test, get L permit for 18 months, take road test, get full license. The 18 months is adjusted if you are fully licensed to drive car already. No mandatory rider training YET. I feel there should be.
  22. I ran 48 - 50 in my rear Metzler and had no problem with it at all. I agree with them
  23. the "problem" with eye witnesses, no 2 witnesses seem to see the same thing with their eyes.
