If they are small spots I would find some high heat or rust paint, depending on where they are, in silver and take a small art paint brush and dab them with some paint. Adjust brush size and paint quantity to cover well.
I know there is rust stop products on the market but most of them leave Black in place of the rust. You can do that then paint over them in Silver also.
other things to try, as it has come up with my son recently is to go to a Gluten and Lactose free diet.
amazing solution for the last two years of similar issues, Gluten more than Lactose has helped him become human again.
The West? Sorry Brian but the west starts at the Rockies.....
The link works for me and there is not much more West from here
Hope all is well as winter approaches the East....
FJR is a good bike, I have test ridden on Yamaha days a couple times. I compare it to the Concourse I had for a while and it wins hands down. It is a "sport touring" bike and if that is what you like for long term great. For Long rides I will take my Ventures, had 1st gen now second... either is great and I have my V-Strom for more fun times and daily ride year round.
There is these adapter "dongles" on the market. I had been holding off till someone I met purchased one and tried it first. I met a fellow at the Harley shop yesterday that had one connected, he said it took the 3 units before they found one that worked, but it works.

welcome to the site Rachel
I think this brings up a huge info blank into the question of... What headset do I get?
I think info on what helmet you wear is very important information to help with the choice. I have Scala Rider Bluetooth in my full face because the J&M sets do not fit into the full face with out altering the inside, which I do not wish to do.
That is why I do like to buy what I can locally.... if and when there is a problem and the dealer knows you..... you have a good chance it will be made right.
Glad it worked out for you.
I think the main point may have been missed.... when the key is off the power generated by your charger is not going to the battery unless a mod has been detected.
Gotta keep it simple for all the old folk around here . From what I have seen not that many wish to use the new stuff out there like facebook .... those that do seem to be on a page some place there anyway. This works... the "my Posts" is a good idea and thanks for adding it so quickly. I belong to a local forum that offers different colours ( that is Canadian for colors by the way) and the options are quite crappy when put in use. The blue may not be everyone's favorite but it works, it is clean and simple.
Thanks for asking Don.
The 86 when running correctly you should hear nothing, maybe the sound of police cars trying to catch you but nothing else.
As I described it original, it feels like you are sitting on a well tuned Cameron engine. Smooth, quiet and powerful.
something about a dial down on bottom of the rad that should be in a certain position, I dont have a 1st gen anymore to look at it but this may twig some memories I hope.
The difficult thing is getting over the cringing every time the running boards hit the ground. I have not been "able" to scrape mine on the second gen yet but my instructor took it out and did get them scraping every switch back.
His only reaction was.... sh*t this thing is heavy ! It is a fun experience that everyone should train doing the course. they open it up a bit for us non professional riders. I think they take the circles from 12 feet to 15 for us, and about the same for slalom.
