  1. I have an 09 RSTD. With about 1000 miles on it, I started noticing the exhaust popping when decelerating and with information gained from this site, I plugged the AIS with stoppers. This solved the popping issue. Now, with about 3500 miles on the bike I want to sync the carbs. Do I need to unplug the AIS or can I just sync with the stoppers in place? Bike seems to be running fine just has never had the carbs checked. Thanks in advance for the advice. John
  2. I have a 2009 RSTD that I've had about 1.5 years. Shortly after I purchased it I was lifting it with a motorcycle jack and the bike came to rest on the rear lift arm of the jack where a small bracket is welded to the bottom of the bike frame. The bracket bent over. The bracket is about 1" x 7" and I believe it has a couple of holes in it. I've been riding the bike ever since and see no issue but I'm wondering what this bracket was for. Could it be possibly for a center stand? Thanks for any input.
  3. The leaves have started changing. You see different tints and hues and occasionally there will be one tree that's very bright. Compared to other years it seems less colorful. Most likely the hot temps of the summer has taken a toll on the trees. It's still probably a couple weeks away from peaking so time will tell. We have had big frosts the last two mornings so that will make things start happening a little quicker.
  4. Thanks for the heads-up phertwo. This is the first I have heard of this in the Yamaha so I will monitor it closely as I always ride with my wife behind me.
  5. Hi neighbor, I just bought an 09 RSTD this summer and the whine in my bike seems to mirror what phertwo said above. I can hear it but not a problem. I just changed oil at my 600 mile mark and put in synthetic. I haven't ridden it yet but I'm anxious to see if that changes the whine.
