2. Dang!!! I thought the crotch rocket cowboy that wrecked next to us was scary! YOU WIN!!
3. Well I have to agree on the fully automatics. I can remember when you could go into a Sears & Roebucks and buy a Thompson (pre 1968), but I have to say that Tree of Shame is a bit morbid in IMHO. Funny you should mention the Helix there Cowpuc. Me and the others were admiring the photos posted around the top of the walls inside Deals Gap of interesting riders and cagers on the Dragon. One of them is a middle-aged looking dude riding a scooter wearing shorts and tennis shoes and sporting a big grin!! lol
4. In my humble opinion it's all about the hype on the Dragon. It's marketed very well and loaded with traffic. We traveled south on 215 out of Bethel and on to hgwy 64 towards Lake Toxaway. Those roads were hardly traveled and much more challenging then the Dragon, not to mention much, much longer. If folks really wanted to test their endurance and limitations on their bikes hgwy 215 & 64 should fit the bill but there isn't anyone taking pictures along those endless curves.
5. Rode the Dragon for the first time last week northward from Deals Gap. We were the last in our group to take off. About two miles into it we had a couple of guys coming up fast on crotch rockets. I pulled in tight to the white line and waved them on. The first guy made it passed us on a short straight section. The second guy decided he could pass us going into a hard right. As soon as he passed us we were all in the center of the curve as he hammered the throttle. Immediately his rear tire went out, he went rolling like bent log toward the cliff and his bike stayed right in front of us as it did a couple of spins. I slammed the brakes and somehow managed to miss his bike as I saw the rider go over the shoulder of the pavement and stop in my mirror. My buddy in front of me heard it and stopped, his buddy stopped. Then he got up and of course, limping he went to check out the damage on his bike before making sure he himself was okay. He seemed okay and his buddy was there so we waited a minute to make sure they got off the road to safety, but I was thinking, WTH? Fortunately there was no one behind us and no one coming the other way at that minute or we may all have been put in jeopardy. About four minutes later me and my buddy on his RSV caught up with our other buddy on the H.D., where they had just witnessed another crash from someone who said they have ridden the Dragon many, many times and had never crashed!! The weather was clear and about 65 degrees. Beautiful day.......for most of us. I wonder how many crashes they average a day on that road?
6. You must've seen some of that rain they were talkin about back then.
7. Lol. They weren't overly gabby for a welcoming committee. Maybe they don't like city-slickers, but they dress well!
8. We've been mostly happy with our Scorpion EXO modulars. Put Ed Sets in them. We went about 1300 miles last week with ours. We both had some discomfort around our foreheads a time or two in the long days. They're heavy helmets. My wife uses the internal air pump to change the fit time to time.
9. We were directed to these guys for local information while in the area this week. They told us that Country Vittles restaurant was the best place in town to eat, and they was right! They're available 24-7 on the main drag through town on hgwy 19 if anyone needs directions.

Old Man

A balding, white haired man walked into a jewelry store this past Friday evening with a beautiful much younger gal at his side. He told the jeweler he was looki...ng for a special ring for his girlfriend. The jeweler looked through his stock and brought out a $5,000 ring. The man said, 'No, I'd like to see something more special.' At that statement, the jeweler went to his special stock and brought another ring over. 'Here's a stunning ring at only $40,000the jeweler said. The lady's eyes sparkled and her whole body trembled with excitement. The old man seeing this said, 'We'll take it.' The jeweler asked how payment would be made and the man stated, 'By check. I know you need to make sure my check is good, so I'll write it now and you can call the bank Monday to verify the funds; I'll pick the ring up Monday afternoon.' On Monday morning, the jeweler angrily phoned the old man and said 'Sir...There's no money in that account. ''I know,' said the old man...'But let me tell you about my weekend.’ Not All Seniors Are Senile...
11. Did they ever bring the water level back up? They have a major issue below the dam foundation and actually had to lower the lake by approximately 50' a few years ago to reduce water pressure against the clay that was washing out! It caused a great deal of pain on the marinas with the ramps having to be extended down. We haven't been back there since then, but it's probably the best place to boat in my opinion. Beautiful lake! The water is so clear you can see a persons hands and feet all the way down as they dive in, and the fishing ain't bad either!
12. Supposed to be great next week in the area...upper 60's and sunny. We'll be right behind you. Leaving Sunday. Hope we all have lots of carefree riding. Be safe!!

Ol' Vern

Well, I didn't know, but not having had the pleasure in meeting him personally I'd have to place a "Mr" in front of that.
14. Me too, but this guy rides like he's got an iron butt anyway. Him and his wife are never the ones to call for a pit stop and they're on that thing all the time. He claims the cold wind yesterday masked over what was happening. I guess his hand was overall cooled from the cool wind while the skin on his palm slowly blistered. Realy strange! Bad thing is he's gotta leave with us next weekend for North Carolina.
15. This happened to a buddy of mine yesterday. Temperatures were in the mid 50's. He used his heated grips on his Ultra Classic because he didn't have his gloves. He rode about 2 hrs non stop. This was the result. Hope the picture came through. Never heard of this ever happening.

Doctors vs. Gun Owners Doctors (A) The number of physicians in the U.S. is 700,000. (B) Accidental deaths caused by Physicians per year are 120,000. © Accidental deaths per physician is 0.171. Statistics courtesy of U.S. Dept of Health and Human Services. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Now think about this: Guns (A) The number of gun owners in the U.S. is 80,000,000. (Yes, that's 80 million) (B) The number of accidental gun deaths per year, all age groups, is 1,500. © The number of accidental deaths per gun owner is .000188. Statistics courtesy of FBI >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> So, statistically, doctors are approximately 9,000 times more dangerous than gun owners. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Remember, 'Guns don't kill people, doctors do.' >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> FACT: NOT EVERYONE HAS A GUN, BUT Almost everyone has at least one doctor. This means you are over 900 times more likely to be killed by a doctor as a gun owner!!! >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Please alert your friends to this alarming threat. We must ban doctors before this gets COMPLETELY out of hand!

Ol' Vern

As the old timer was driving down the freeway, his phone rang. Answering, he heard his wife’s voice warning him “Vernon, I just heard on the news that there’s a car going the wrong way on I-80. Please be careful!” “Hell” said Vernon “It’s not just one car… It’s hundreds of them!”
18. I dumped mine two weeks after I bought my 06 in June. Too big of a hurry to get off the bike on the incline at the o.h.door to my shop, so I leaned way over to reach the key pad on the wall and dumped it! Know how you feel. SUCKS!
19. Didn't know about the stickers. Okay. Thanks for the advice. I just hope no ones filming. Lol Be safe!
20. Okay then. Well be in M. Valley for most of the week. If you get behind a silver FLHT, one maroon 06 RSV and one blue 07 RSV on the Dragon, take it easy on us because it'll be our first time there on two wheels.Lol Hope we all have a safe trip and pleasant weather!
21. I've only been an active member for a year, and before that another year just reading but I too am seeing noticeably slower loading, especially on the side bars. It seems worse at times. I guess it's no big deal but I got kind of spoiled by how speedy the site was.

Beware!

Yep, I've had good and bad experiences on both Ebay and Craigslist and the potential problems are exponentially greater the more distance you have to travel to get the goods. I've traveled hundreds of miles just to get that "I can't believe I fell for this" sick feeling of stupidity. If it ain't close I ain't goin'. It seems everyone's got a wide range of opinion of the term "excellent condition". lol
23. Did you ever decide which direction you're going?
24. This worked for me and my hands are on the larger size. Many Thanks!
25. Don't know if it's what you're looking for or if you still need on, but I also had this from my 88 VR I changed out this spring. Hope the image came through. It says it's Lexan and has a GE stamp in it. Don't know if it's the original for sure but it still has the rubber gasket along the bottom too. The description on the shield reads: AS6 M-121 GE Lexan RMR Sheet DOT 94
