I'm ready to remove the front forks on the 83' Venture Royale in order to replace the seals. The fairing and handlebars off, but I cannot find the front air valve to release the front fork pressure. The bracket that holds the hose is there, but I cannot find the hose? I've looked with a flashlight all around the given area to no avail. Any ideas out there? Chaplain Dusty

Talking tires,, guess I what I noticed this weekend..
Chaplain Dusty replied to cowpuc's topic in Watering Hole
Look like nice tires! Tires definitely make a difference. I had one of the early 1977 Yamaha 750's and it came with Bridgestone tires. I drove it from Rogers, Arkansas to Los Angeles, Ca. I got into L.A. at night with a semi in front, a semi in back and a semi on each side. I was boxed in with no place to go when those tires were catching every groove in the road. I thought I was getting a flat on the front. It was quite a hair raising experience. Finally, I got a break and took an exit to check the tires. They were fine, but when I got back I took those tires off and replaced them with Continentals and never had any other handling issues. Chaplain Dusty CRUISIN' ON A SUNDAY AFTERNOON..... -
Looking for the differences between the 1983 Venture verses the 1983 Venture Royale? Reliability? Performance? Handling? Power? Parts that are interchangeable? And anything else pertaining to these bikes? Chaplain Dusty:bagpipes-emoticon:

Prayers for my wife
Chaplain Dusty replied to kbran's topic in Inspirational, Motivational, Prayer Requests, Etc.
Gracious Father, you know all that we go through, not only physically, but mentally and spiritually. Father I come before your throne in humility because you are God. We are just human. You created all things and hold all things together. We thank you for who you are. Lord, I lift Beth up to you and in my humility, I thank you that I can be so bold and ask for your mercy in this situation. You have given me access to your throne room through the shed blood of your Son. Your grace is truly amazing! Lord, I pray that you would just say the Word and that your name would be high and lifted up in Beth's life. Pour out your tender mercies, your loving kindness and all of your blessings upon her. Give her strength, give her courage and fill her with your joy. Give her that peace and rest in knowing that you are in control of all things. Father, guide the physicians in this situation. Give them wisdom. And yes, I do ask for healing if that is your will. Almighty Father, touch her with your love and your compassion. Draw her into a deeper relationship with you if she knows you. Strengthen her faith. And if she does not know you, I pray that you would reveal yourself to her in a powerful way. Thank you for hearing this prayer. We all wait with anticipation for your intervention. We praise your majestic and holy name. Glory to you Lord. In the precious name of Jesus, our Messiah and your precious Son. Amen. -
Scott, Have not been on for awhile. Frances is doing alright. I got the muffler chamber replaced, but it cost me damage to my left wrist. You know, one of those rusted up bolts! I was using a wrench on her, smacking it with an 18 oz. hammer and guess what? I was layin' on my back working on it when the hammer glanced off the wrench and got me in the wrist. It's been a month and a few weeks. It wasn't getting better, so I had it looked at. No fractures, but ligament damage. I still can use it, but it's sore. I see a specialist Wed. I did finish the job, just not that day. Now I have a new issue. The oil level is good, but at times when I'm out riding, my oil warning light is coming on. When I back off on her, it goes off. It does not do it at idle. Have any ideas? Chaplain Dusty:think:

A little more medical update,, really neat stuff!
Chaplain Dusty replied to cowpuc's topic in Watering Hole
Scott, My prayers are still with you. Remember, trust the Lord first. He gave us life and is in total control of our lives. Yes, He can work through the doctors, etc. But, no one has control of our breath and our heartbeat besides Him. He wishes for us to look to Him and trust Him totally. This glorifies Him greatly. There is no such thing as "God helps those who help themselves." The truth is "God helps those who cannot help themselves", if they turn to Him. Grace is a beautiful thing! The 1/4" nut would not work for me, however a 5/16" nut was perfect. It actually is a 12mm nut and the 5/16" is the closest fit. just took the bike out and at last SUCCESS!!!!!!!! No whining from the front or the back (she's a good woman). Praise God! Chaplain Dusty JUST SAYIN' "AMEN"

front wheel bearings- HELP
Chaplain Dusty replied to jasonm.'s topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
If you are still having trouble, go to Autozone. I took the wheel and they placed it on the counter. I helped them hold the tire as they used their blind hole bearing puller and popped it right out. No charge! Great folks! :bagpipes-emoticon:Chaplain Dusty:backinmyday: -

Skids Ordeal
Chaplain Dusty replied to Yammer Dan's topic in Inspirational, Motivational, Prayer Requests, Etc.
Gracious Father, I do not know the needs or the circumstances, but Lord you do. Your Word tells us to pray for one another, so in obedience to your Word I lift up Skid and Leslie to you. As I come before your very throne into your very Presence, I ask you to just say the Word Lord. I pray that your tender mercies, your loving kindness and all of your blessings would be poured out according to your will and for your glory. Father, we know that in I John, the 5th chapter, your Word tells us that you hear our prayers and you will answer our prayers if they are prayed according to your will with an obedient heart. Lord, we are but human. You alone are God. We have nowhere else to turn except to You. No matter what, we still continue to trust You completely. Thank You. In The Precious Name of Your Son we pray. Amen. -

Black Owl - May our Lord pour out His tender mercies, loving kindness and all His blessings upon you. May He touch you in a mighty way and give you the peace and rest that only He can give. May He remove any anxiety, stress or worry and fill you to overflowing with His joy. In Jesus name - AMEN! -
Neil, Thanks for the info. This is a learning experience and I need a biggggggg learning curve. I will check that out. When I took it to Yamaha about the rough idle, etc. after they did the carb work, they had mentioned that it could possible be a vacuum leak in the hoses, which they checked out. Whether they looked at the YICS system or not, I do not know. After they synched the carbs, it ran real well for about two weeks and was easier to start, Yet now, she will not start. Chaplain Dusty

Cowpuc, Thanks for the great info. I'm changing the oil on "Francis" and replacing the front wheel bearings. I will then begin on the carb issues. I've got spring break coming up and will have about two weeks of time to jump on those puppies. I'm looking forward to getting in some good riding in the near future. Bless you my brother!

When I first got the bike, it would not start. I replaced the battery and it turned over, but to no avail. I took it to the Yamaha dealer to have the carbs cleaned, etc., which was done, but found that the TCI unit was bad. That has been replaced. Of course none of this was cheap. The bike ran very well for about a week with the exception of some backfiring, but was still hard starting when cold. It then began idling rough and at times would quit running. I took it back to Yamaha and asked them if they had synchronized the carbs after their rebuild (not sure exactly what was done other than cleaning). They said that they had and didn't understand why their adjustments had not held. At any rate, they synchronized the carbs and all seemed great and the bike seemed to start a little bit easier, but still took awhile to start when cold. When the bike is warm, she normally starts pretty regularly and runs well. Now, she acts as if she will start, but to no avail. I have found that it is best not to use the choke. She floods real easy. The fuel mileage does not seem too great when she is running. The compression was checked and was ok. I have not ridden for over 20 years, so a lot of what I used to know has gone by the wayside with age, but I need to figure this out.

Can't wait to give it a shot.

May the Lord pour out His tender mercies, loving kindness and all His blessings upon them.

Thanks for the feedback. I've been having issues on hard starting. I had the 83' carbs cleaned up and re-jetted for the high altitude of Northern New Mexico and the carbs have been sinked, but I continue to have issues. This is why I was considering different carbs. Just want the bike to be reliable in that respect. Chaplain Dusty
