  1. A very Merry Christmas to you and yours Tech. Sargent Chris Coffey! May our Lord richly bless you and keep you throughout your deployment. May He also protect and provide for your family. Our prayers are with you. Thank you for your service. In The Love Of Christ, Chaplain Dusty
  2. Stuff, stuff, stuff. Too much stuff. I'm tryin' to get rid of stuff . I do not have enough room to store stuff . I've tried to give stuff away and nobody wants it . I'm tryin' to sell stuff and no one has any money to by the stuff . Still I find stuff I think I need. I'm surrounded by stuff! I give..............up! Sometimes I think stuff rules. A penny for your thoughts , a dollar for your mind! And so it goes......... Chaplain Dusty
  3. Great footage Puc. It's been fairly nice in Santa Fe. We have snow on the mountains , but I rode the 88' to work yesterday (a little nippy in the morning) and today it was a very nice ride to work . No wind at all. sweet ride with the leathers on. You just do not want to ride after sunset. The weather is definitely coming on! Ice cream runs may be out of the question before too long. That hurts! Love you guys, Chaplain Dusty "still ridin' for now"
  4. Michael, Great post! WORSHIP AND RIDE. Worship is our life in Christ. Let His light shine! To live is Christ, to die is gain. Chaplain Dusty
  5. We did it! And it was good that we did. We now have the white stuff on our mountains nearby . On the 30th of Oct., my wife got home an hour later from work than we had planned. I had the bike trailer all hooked up and ready to go. When she got home it began to sprinkle and by the time we got her packed up and ready, it was pouring rain , but no wind. With our rain gear on, we headed out. We drove about 20 miles and it stopped raining until we got to Albuquerque, New Mexico and guess what? In rush hour traffic, it began to rain again , but ended as we left the city limits of Albuquerque headed south. We could see storms all around us, but there was no wind, just wet pavement. We got into T or C (Truth or Consequences) just as the sun had gone down and the temp was dropping . We checked into the Rocket Inn, 1950's style motel which has been updated and cleaned up. It is a nice little motel and very clean. It was just right for us. It sure beat the chain motels. Went to dinner at the Los Arcos Steak and Lobster house. It was a little pricey, but the service and the food were excellent. Woke up to clear skies, but heavy dew on the bike. As soon as the sun came out, it evaporated . The day was beautiful (in the 60's). We walked down to the restaurant for breakfast, which was a nice stroll into the small town and then back to get the bike and trailer. We then drove to the La Paloma Hot Springs for a soak. Very nice!!! And then it was lunch time and we ate at the Brazen Fox. Lime in the Coconut drinks and camarones De Ajo (shrimp). Not bad! Good prices . Then it was time for a ride again. This time we drove down around Elephant Butte Lake and then back to T or C. Back to the motel, rest and then a walk down to dinner at the Cafe BellaLuca for some good Italian food. The lobster carbonara was excellent. Waiters and cooks, etc. were all in costume for Halloween . And then a nice stroll back to the motel. We slept good. Did I mention ice cream earlier in the day? On Sunday, it was breakfast at Sunset Grill. A lot of good home cooked food and very reasonably priced. Church and then check out of the motel for the drive back after we stopped for pastries at the Passion Pie shop. It was now in the 70's and it was a smooth ride back to Santa Fe. We stopped in Albuquerque for a late lunch/dinner at Mimi's Restaurant. It is a nice French restaurant. Got back to Santa Fe just as the sun was going down. Unloaded and disconnected the trailer just as darkness settled. All in all it was a wonderful get away trip. All of this for around $350.00, gas, food and lodging. Wow! What a good anniversary! We took a few pictures. Check em out. Rest Area Good Food, Good Prices Nice Hot Soak $10 hr. Guys Hangin' Out Motel Parking 50's Style Motel The Rig & My Wife Good Design! 6. Headin' for Truth or Consequences, New Mexico Friday with the wife on the back and towin' a trailer. It's our anniversary. We are headin' south to play in the hot springs. This is New Mexico's best kept secret. There is some scattered rain expected tomorrow night and Friday. Beyond that, it will be cleared out by Saturday. We will head back to Santa Fe on Sunday. We have our rain gear ready just in case. Will try to send photos. Right now, it is overcast and 40 degrees this evening (10:39 pm). Hittin' the hay real soon to dream on it. Chaplain Dusty
  7. Got a wiring harness off of Ebay with an isolator attached, which wired into the bike wiring and directly to the positive and negative on the battery. Four wires tied into the bike wiring under the seat and the five wire out of the isolator were snaked through to the hitch area behind. It took some time because the Time Out trailer color coding was crazy , but I was able to test the wires with some jumpers to figure it out. The biggest problem finding was the brake light wire on the bike under the seat, which turned out to be a yellow wire. The harness wire was red that I tied in to the yellow. The trailer brake light wire was blue. Success, finally!! The wiring harness was a Part # 16-125 Universal Trailer Wiring Harness from Big Bike Parts. Chaplain Dusty
  8. Bill, I was able to get on it today. The oven cleaner did work. :wow:It took some time and patience and rubbing, but it worked. :happy65:The calligraphy paint came right off. There was no damage to the original paint. So, thanks my brother for the tip! Chaplain Dusty
  9. I do not know about Texas, but in New Mexico, both bikers would have been ticketed for reckless driving (passing in a no passing zone, left of center). This is a hefty fine along with possible loss of license and even jail time. The driver of the car also clearly went left of center (intentionally), thus reckless driving and aggravated assault with a motor vehicle. This also would constitute a hefty fine, loss of license and jail time. There was a lot of stupidity here. I do not believe that the driver intended to hit the bike, but clearly wanted to make a statement ( a definite control freak). It did not turn out well, except that no one was killed (praise God for that). People are sitting in prison for similar mistakes. I believe there is a lesson to be learned here. Hopefully, Texas will prosecute all involved to the full extent of their laws. If not, these people will most likely continue in their behavior patterns. Chaplain Dusty "Safe riding is happy riding."
  10. SIMPLY LOOVELY!!! And yes, gorgeous!
  11. Thanks Alan for the info. Sounds like a need to hop on it. Where did you find the slave replacement?
  12. It means that you are at the top of your game my brother!!!
  13. Puc, those first pictures were great, but that last picture of those two varmints is just scary........... :yikes:It looks like they've been up all night! Is that a police car just outside the garage in the dark? Chaplain Dusty
  14. Losing fluid slowly in the clutch reservoir up top on my 88' Venture Royale. No signs of leaks anywhere. It takes about seven days of usage and then I have to refill the reservoir. I've read the 83" thread on clutch fluid leakage. What do you think? Chaplain Dusty
  15. Puc, I cannot wait for you and your better half to come visit us in Santa Fe. Prayers up! Chaplain Dusty
  16. I'll see if I can test it before I try it on the bike. Thanks for the tip! How does that old sayin' go? All donations appreciated. Chaplain Dusty
  17. Brother Puc!! You are not old, just experienced. And that is a good thing! Where would we be with no experience at our age? Hope all is well with you and yours my brother. I keep you in my prayers. How are the medical things going? Chaplain Dusty
  18. I just got this 88'. From what I can tell, it seems to be an 88' seat that has been recovered and beefed up a bit. It is very comfortable. My wife agrees. I believe the previous owner had this done. He took very good care of this bike. He even has his family name painted on in a very nice job of calligraphy, which I need to figure a way to take off without damaging the original finish. Chaplain Dusty
  19. This northern New Mexico ride is great during the fall. Members of our church (all couples) did this ride last weekend. Took the high road up to Taos, New Mexico. From there we travelled to Questa and Red River. Had dinner at Texas Red's in Red River (the elk burgers were very good) and then traveled through Eagle's Nest to Angel Fire, New Mexico where we rented a 4 bedroom house for the night. We drove back around to Taos the next day and back down to Santa Fe after visiting the Rio Grande Gorge Bridge. We had a Suzuki Boulevard, 2 Harley's and my 88' Venture Royale towing a Time Out trailer. The weather was fantastic. The fellowship was sweet. :cool10:And this was my wife's longest ride yet (in the yellow helmet). :happy65:She loved it! And that is always a good thing. The aspens were beginning to change (streaks of yellow). No I'm not in the pictures, I'm behind the camera. Yours aye! Chaplain Dusty
  20. Happy Birthday Bob and welcome to the sixty club! God bless you and Rockin' Robin. Chaplain Dusty
  21. Hey Puc, Happy Birthday to Tippy!! My oldest son had his birthday on Oct 1st. Chaplain Dusty :biker::biker: 5 Bikes doin' the Enchanted Circle in Northern New Mexico tomorrow and Sunday. Watch those fall colors!! Will send photos.
  22. I just need to tie in a 5 pin flat plug into the bike wiring to be able to plug the trailer into. I did not know if Yamaha has a particular wiring kit, etc. in order for this to happen. I am not good at wiring and I definitely do not want to put a load on the system. Chaplain Dusty
  23. It's the Mohawk motorcycle helmets that make me giggle. Chaplain Dusty
  24. Once again Stan is the man! :wow:Thanks my brother for pointing out the truth on Approval. I would not have considered any part of traveling that far without my VR brothers input. Yes, they had me on the $300.00. I told them that they would get a lot of publicity out of this. They still stuck to their conniving ways. And they are getting publicity out of this, just not the kind that they would enjoy, but that is how they have chosen to deal with people. At any rate, the good Lord did protect me in a tight situation and by His grace, He gave me a sweet motorcycle and kept me safe over a lot of miles. :sign outstanding:Sorry that I missed you Stan. Had you gone down the street to the station, you probably would have caught me filling the tank. I'm under the understanding that I had just left when you showed up. Maybe next time. The icing on the cake was me being able to pray for my brother Puc in N. Muskegon and heading over to see my granddaughter in Pittsburg, Pa. which I had not seen since she had been born. :sign isnt that specBut, thanks again for your time and effort in checking out the situation and even tracking down the previous owner. Bless you my brother! Chaplain Dusty
  25. Just purchased a 1800 XL On Time tow behind trailer with a flat 5 pin plug hook-up. Is there anyone out there who can give me an idea on the wiring on a 1988 Venture Royale in order to tow this trailer? Chaplain Dusty
