  1. There's another thread on this. This guy sells the stuff that you really need in his opinion to get your bike to ride like he likes. You know what they say about opinions.
  2. Those used car lots that will sell your car for you have also stiffed a lot of people because you have to sign a power of attorney to them so they can sell your vehicle. I've read where cars were sold and the business went bankrupt and the owner got stiffed.
  3. I think that one of the documents you sign when you trade is a "Power of Attorney" document where you agree to allow the dealer to represent your interests in the transaction. It works fine until you use a dealer that is in financial trouble or is very unethical. But, the bottom line is that you agree to let the scumbag sign for you in the sale of the tradein.
  4. You may want to contact a Yamaha Rep and let them know how unethical this dealer is. They may want to terminate their relationship with them.
  5. 24 Bags! I'm tired just reading about it! I mixed 4 or 5 bags to pour the ramp to my new utility shed using a hoe to mix it inside a wheel barrow and it was a lot of work. 24 bags!
  6. Hope your friend learned something. And maybe let him buy his own bike?
  7. I admit it. The Mark I's with their slimmer saddlebags look better than my 89 with it's fat bags.
  8. I like it the way it is now except I wish a new classified post would show up when I click on "new posts" so I can check it out. I tend to forget to check what is for sale because I usually just click on "new posts" and read those. Thanks for asking.
  9. I think you can lower the front by raising the fork legs in the clamps. Maybe you can install stiffer springs in the forks and reduce the spacer length for a little more lowering. I don't know if lowering links are available to lower the rear. Others will chime in who know much more than I do.
  10. 69hp and 81 ft lbs of torque at 4,000 rpm, 668 lbs curb
  11. I rode my Kawasaki from Wilmington and back and stayed dry. I did leave early trying to outrun the rain. It was great to see the guys I knew and meet some more members.
  12. Any way you look at it, it's a great deal if you can get it for $24k.
  13. Partzilla has all the parts needed for a rebuild. https://www.partzilla.com/catalog/yamaha/motorcycle/1983/xvz12tk/clutch
  14. Well, you kinda, sorta knew you needed another radiator. Change it out and keep on grinning!
  15. The end of this story is disappointing. The transmission did need a conductor plate but it also needed replacement. There was more sludge in the pan than I usually see and after the conductor plate was installed, it worked for a short distance and the filter plugged with the transmission whining and slipping. Opening up the old filter revealed that it was plugged even worse. Sooo, the car is in a transmission shop waiting on a remanufactured transmission to arrive. This is the first auto transmission failure I have had and the transmission is a Mercedes trans. I bought the car new and it now has 108k miles on it. I drive aggressively for an old guy but nothing like compared to a young pup. A large portion of the miles on this car was interstate miles with the cruise set when I was contracting away from home. The shop gets its remans from a company in Milwaukee, WI called ETE. Like they say, if it burns gasoline or has teets, it's going to cost you some serious green.
  16. You just need to find some other parking arrangements and keep your old friend.
  17. Cowpuc, I don't suppose you have a video of removing the driveshaft and lubing the front end of it? I suppose that should be done occsionally too, correct?
  18. This Yamaha video covers carb adjustment on the Gen1 and should be the same for the Gen2. In the video, it is stated that the idle mixture adjustment and the carbs sync should do done concurrently.
  19. I would ride it until I was sure the carbs are clean after sitting for a long time before syncing the carbs. Change the rear gear oil.
  20. How many turns out are the idle mix screws? You might try turning them in a little as you watch how the engine runs. They are harder to adjust on these engines than on the old carbed autos, but they should be turned in until the engine speed starts decreasing and then unscrew them slightly. The carbs will need to be synced after adjusting the mixture screws. These carbs also have enrichment circuits that may not be working correctly.
  21. I don't mean to upset anybody but the guy who does the "Living Off the Slab" videos stated that the fit and finish was not up to Harley or Indian standards. See attached video.
  22. I've never heard of a warranty depending on buying the manufacturers brand oil. Must have something to do with how hot the oil gets.
  23. If I remember correctly, the OE pump won't let fuel pass if it isn't running and some of the cheap pumps that can be used will. This could be a safety issue in an accident. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.
  24. deleted
  25. What year bike?
