  1. I use Gumout for high mileage engines with PEA. It's supposed to be a fuel injector cleaner but works great for carbs without harming anything. I use it in all of my engines and yard tools. If the carbs are really dirty, I use a whole bottle in one tank of gasoline.
  2. Really glad you didn't get hurt and congratulaitons on the wing. I'm sure you will love it.
  3. It will be interesting to find out what the highway mileage actually is on a long trip when the brakes aren't used that much.
  4. Does the new Goldwing have a DCT?
  5. Congratulations! I'm sure you will enjoy it!
  6. Congratulations on the purchase of the new Wing!
  7. The manual says 3.7 qts of oil is required if the filter isn't changed. 3.9 qts with oil filter change. 4.3 qts if the engine is dry. But the sight glass is the determining factor. With the bike upright, not on the sidestand, it should be mid-scale.
  8. Must have been your wild riding!
  9. Exercise, Exercise, Exericise! Exercise helps at any age. I don't want to exercise and it's hard to make myself exercise but I like the results. It doesn't take a lot to maintain or even gain strength. At 74, if I didn't exercise, I'd lose my strength quickly.
  10. I've noticed on my 89 venture and my Kawasaki ZN700 that when they are idling poorly at low rpm they make a knocking sound. I'm fairly sure it's caused by the timing chain.
  11. It looks pretty good in the photos, but the smoking even after warmup, and the fact that the two previous owners passed it on rather than repair it does make me wonder.
  12. Campers use colored lights at the camp site at night. Supposedly colored lights don't attract bugs.
  13. In 2003, a coworker who was a 40 yr. old bachelor engineer owned a small airplane. He said it cost him about $10k per year in O&M. But, he also said that its worth had gone up tremendously since he bought it. One of his girl friends wanted to get her pilot's license so he trained her (for free of course) and then she dumped him!
  14. Yeah, gravel and big heavy motorcycles don't mix well. I almost dropped my 07 when I ran out of gas and stopped at the entrance of a gravel driveway. Perhaps a member will have something for you. Ebay is the most likely place to visit I would presume. Or call Pinwall. They are constantly parting out bikes.
  15. Good Luck to your Son! My son moved to NYC when he was 22 to start his career in recording music. He was lucky in that one of his high school buddies who moved back to NYC had a room in his apt. in Queens. I was apprehensive too but it all worked out for him. He has since moved to Los Angeles but he says he likes NYC the best. He succeeded beyond his expectations and is now living his dream.
  16. There are some great motorcycles out there for sale for little money! Remember that Kawasaki you bought in FL! I wasn't sure I even wanted a RSV but I saw one on craigslist that was such a good deal, I couldn't pass it up. And every time I ride it, I like it a little more.
  17. Put a whole bottle of Gumout for high mileage engines with PEA in a tank of gas and run it through as well as syncing the carbs.
  18. Puc, is carrying a rocking chair on the back of Tweeksis an age related thing? When you stop to camp, you have your rocking chair to relax in before sleeping.
  19. Puc, I'm so happy that you were able to control Tweeksis after she went airborne! If it had been me I'd be in the hospital or morgue I'm sure. Your riding skills are the greatest! Keep us updated on the repair! And the grandbaby!
  20. I think you have to change out more than just the bags for springs. Spring kits are available. With the Mark which is rear drive, the Thunderbird rear parts would fit. Don't know about the Continental.
  21. Something to check is the spark plug wire where it screws into the cap. The copper core wire tends to corrode and usually snipping off 3/4" of wire and screwing it back in resolves the issue. My bad! I didn't read where you replaced the wires and caps! Have the valves been adjusted recently?
  22. This training video shows carb adjustment.
  23. I doubt the Crown Vic springs would work because the continental is FWD and he CV is RWD.
  24. Try leaning out the idle mixture screws a tad. An exhaust analyzer is needed to set them correctly. And some have added a thin washer to the diaghragm shafts to lean those out. Cowpuc added some to Tweeks a few years ago. You might find the thread if you do a search. The enrichment diaphragms could need replacing too maybe?
  25. There are several videos on line about how to eliminate the servo brake ABS system if that is what you want to do. I'm sure there are repair videos too.
