Seafoam recomends adding one ounce per qt of oil if you use it in the engine oil. My old 2002 F150 5.4L with 165,000 miles on it recently started making a little valve train noise on cold startup. I added 6 ounces of Seafoam to the oil about 30 miles before an oil change and drove it gently. Now there is no valve train noise on cold startup. So, I was pleased with the result. I usually don't believe in oil additives but it seems to have worked well.

A while back, FedEx decided to not renew their Amazon contract. I suspect Amazon is depending on the USPS more now and they are overwhelmed maybe. The USPS is unionized so I'm sure that has something to do with the service also. I didn't have another choice for delivery from the company I ordered which is Cosmic Scope.

I ordered one of those newly offered Monoculars that is supposed to allow you to see for 30 miles on March 23. Anybody have one? Anyway according to the tracking info it came from CA to Fayetteville NC leaving that location on April 7 but delivery has been delayed. And Fayetteville is only about 100 miles away. I caught the USPS package delivery truck at our mailbox yesterday delivering an Amazon package to my wife and talked to the driver. She said that the USPS package delivery service only cares about delivering Amazon packages and everything else gets delayed. What the heck?

When I had that problem with my Kawasaki, it was because the carbs were not seated properly in the carb holders or intake manifolds and there was a huge vacuum leak.

Comparable spark plug boots from OEM.
BlueSky replied to Ddiggerr's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
There used to be a NGK spark plug boots catalog on line but I can't find it now. It used to list boots NGK SD05F 8022 boots for the Gen I Venture because I bought a set (that I never installed). However these boots are all straight and two of the OE boots are not straight. NGK boots are 5k ohms while the stock boots are 9 to 10K ohms. I found this when I searched but they can't confirm they fit. https://www.amazon.com/ngk-spark-plug-boot/s?k=ngk+spark+plug+boot&af={"vehicle"%3A"1989-1210-20642-20-----14300------4-1"}&pid=euxvpRG&ref=sx_pf_dsk_cvftr -
Oh, I only got a bloody nose and a broken arm! Nah! My stepson is moving into a penthouse apt in a western city and gave up a lot of stuff. Besides those two handguns, he left all of his tools here too. He told us to sell the stuff if we didn't need or want them, altogether several thousand dollars worth of stuff. Oh by the way he has a silencer for that Sig P227 and we are looking at what we need to do to accept that. My wife is on the permit. I haven't read it yet.

I would suspect that water in the intake would be caused by blowby. Engines crankcases are typically vented through a check valve of some sort to the intake so that the blowby gases are routed through the combustion chamber as an emission control. This blowby is composed mostly of carbon dioxide and water, the main products of combustion. When the engine is shut off and cooled any combustion gases left in the intake could result in condensed water vapor, the same thing that happens in the exhaust pipes. Race engines may not be vented to the intake. Remember the old cars that had a tube connected to the crankcase behind the intake that was routed to the bottom of the car.

If you run gasoline with alcohol, water collection in the fuel tank shouldn't be an issue because water will mix with alcohol and move it through the combustion chamber instead of collecting on the bottom of the tank. But, when the fuel is burned, one of the products of combustion is water. That's why water drips out of the exhaust when a cold engine is first started.

Yamaha made a very nice Harley clone with the Gen 3. That seems to be the style most riders like so that is the market they went after instead of going after the Goldwing market. My opinion doesn't matter a twit because I'm too old to buy bikes. What I have is it...

Yeah, it could have been a BMW 1600 LT competitor with the water cooled VMax engine but they didn't sell that well either did they? I never see a used 1600 for sale on craigslist in my area any more. Update No BMW 1600s on craigs but lots on cycletrader

I need to listen. I've been riding around town with a plugged tire on the rear of my RSV. The new tire is in the garage........ And the front tire is the OE 07 with 23k miles on it....... Yeah, I know. I'm a BIG DUMMY!

Wow! Glad you are okay and the bike didn't get so much damage!

There is a read only manual on this site. That link I posted is a digital one for not much money. The file is too large to email.

Possible Purchase 2009 Venture S
BlueSky replied to KC61's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Buy the bike that you like would be my advice. Carbs are not that much of a problem if the bike is ridden but if it sits more than it is ridden, they can be a pita. The Venture has a curb weight of 869 lbs but in my opinion it isn't top heavy although the wing is the least top heavy of the touring bikes for sure. -

Welcome to the site! I'm sure you will enjoy taking trips on the bike. They are comfy. The price seems good for a well taken care of bike. They can last much much longer.

Any of you shooters into the Silencer/Suppressor world?
BlueSky replied to cowpuc's topic in Watering Hole
Buy what you want right now because the bill being proposed allows you to keep what you have but you can't buy certain firearms or larger magazines. I have everything I want and I don't plan to give them up. -
Possible Purchase 2009 Venture S
BlueSky replied to KC61's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
If the price is right, I'd jump all over it. But, it depends if you want a Venture. Goldwings are nice but they usually cost twice as much as a Venture. -

Reliable bikes. Most of them have a gear whine at a certain rpm known as the clutch basket whine. Mine has it. It's irritating to me but it isn't a reliability problem. I think the Venture is a better looking bike than the Goldwing. There is a thread on this site about typical issues with these bikes.
