  1. I would very much appreciate it everybody who owns and 84 venture would check their VIN sticker by the brake pedal and let me know if you have a 2/84. I have been searching for one for a while. I have found multiple 1/84 and a few 3/84. I just want to know that Yamaha did in fact make the Venture in February. I don't want to spend the next few years looking for a unicorn. Don't worry I will not hound you to sell it to me if you post on here. I will offer you fair market price if you ever want to sell it. Thanks in advance to all who look.
  2. Hey Puc, my package arrived!!! Thanks for signing the sticker and getting it back to me and more importantly thanks for the picture and kind words. Is this how it started with Tweeks? http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j169/coffeyR6/Venture%20West%202014/94C699DE-1653-4560-A292-53F03D006974.jpg http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j169/coffeyR6/Venture%20West%202014/F17276C6-3325-42A9-9554-1CA9D9E1850A.jpg
  3. So now that 7 years has passed, what seat did you go with and how have you liked it?
  4. I did i not know until just now that there was a chat room.
  5. Even if you do not recognize the rider and his lovely passenger, most everyone should recognize the bike and the unique packing style. And yes that was in a State Park where they actually paid to camp:shock3: http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j169/coffeyR6/Venture%20West%202014/13F9766E-3215-44C0-BF85-B5D149D83447.jpg
  6. Looks good, honored that I got a spot on the windshield.
  7. Most that I find are 11/83, 1/84, and 3/84. Thanks for looking.
  8. Sorry to thread jack, but can you tell me what month big red was made in. It is on the VIN sticker by the brake pedal. I am looking for a 2/84 and I want to find at least one to let me know that Yamaha made bikes that month. Right now a 2/84 is a unicorn for me.
  9. Is there bonus points for knowing when and where this picture was taken?
  10. I have been searching like crazy for my next venture. Let me know the mileage, price, and year you are looking for. I will keep an eye out.

    Brake lock up

I did most of my quality learning time on sportbikes, so I am pretty heavy on the front brakes which lightens up the rear. I slide my back tire all the time. I have only slid the front once. (completely stock set up with brakes/ E3s for tires front and rear) I slid the front before I got new tires.
  12. I was wrong (don't tell the wife that I admitted that) left is on. When you rock it left it returns to middle, does yours stay right when you turn it off? Just checking to see if the switch works. If the switch works go drive 50mph some where, turn the switch on and rock the hand controls down, up, down. At first my cruise seems like it is not working; i slow down quite a bit, but then it speeds back up.
  13. http://minneapolis.craigslist.org/hnp/mcy/4559723087.html Look at the luggage rack on that thing. I can't decide if I like it or not.
  14. I have a bike already, so I can stand to have the bike apart for a little while to rebuild the transmission. it'll also give me the time and the motivation to powdercoat the engine the way I want to.
  15. I could be wrong, I will check in 15 mins when go out to my bike to ride home, but I think you are supposed to push the switch to the right for on and left for off. Please someone correct me if I am wrong.
  16. I have para cord "get back" whip on my clutch lever that whips all over the place while I am riding and it does not affect my cruise control at all. it is strange how some things mess with some peoples bike and it does not affect others.
  17. Sorry to ask the dumb questions, but how fast are you going when you try to engage cruise control? are you talking about the Blue light that says the system is on? are you talking about the rocker switch under the tape player or the one on the right handle bar?
  18. http://wausau.craigslist.org/mcy/4559752439.html Puc, you might get your wish. this one is 6 hours and some change from your place. :mytruck1:Road trip!!
  19. http://cincinnati.craigslist.org/mcy/4544720295.html hoping this one works out. Then I can make some money back by selling that two wheeled contraption on the back.

  21. Once I find my 1st gen, we will have to ride again and see if I can pick up anymore speed.
  22. Some people have all the luck. I was scowering the roadside all the way home from Venture west for some road kill with antlers or horns. Exodus is a little jealous of Tweeks' mirror decor.
  23. Since Puc forgot to mention it, you have to sign the patch before you send it.
  24. On the 1st gen, besides the sticker in front of the brake pedal, how do you determine when a bike was built? Is there a site to cross reference the VIN?
