  1. yeah, I lucked out being just young enough. few more years older and I would be out of luck.
  2. http://www.cycletrader.com/listing/1984-Yamaha-Venture-1200-112497099 I found this thing for $888 which is an awesome bike, but it was built in January of 1984. I am looking for a Venture built in February of 1984. If I had just been born 6 days earlier. if I were in the Michigan area, I might get that bike just because. Any leads would be greatly appreciated. I am looking for a good deal on a February 1984 Venture. I would like it to be somewhat close to Las Vegas NV, but for a good enough deal, I will work something out.
  3. Look what Bob brought for ya! I drove 30 miles round trip to chase down a sharpie so he could sign it. I am sure there were other's closer, but Exodus wanted to go play a little http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j169/coffeyR6/Venture%20West%202014/1DAE29DF-9009-4ED0-843B-E2E8DC057522.jpg
  4. I am doing a saddle sore 1000 tomorrow from The Dalles OR to Las Vegas NV. At 12:30 ish i will be stopping in Heyburn ID or I will be stopping at 2 ish in Ogden UT. Let me know if one of those places and times sound good.
  5. Dang, I am going to be riding through on I-84. That is a little far from you.
  6. Where in Idaho are you? I am driving through tomorrow early morning and might be interested.
  7. It was not just bought. It belongs to a respected member on here. He is on his way to the Venture west rally:mytruck1:
  8. Who's bike is this???😞 http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j169/coffeyR6/A82E24F6-29F8-4CE1-BF1A-4A06EB3C9E31.jpg
  9. I do not know about the other services, but the Air Force no longer requires the reflective vest. I just got another jacket for father's day, so now I will ride with it, jeans, full finger gloves, boots and my 3/4 helmet. I have a full face for colder weather. I wear a leather vest with some bright patches on it. I have a mil spec reflective vest, but it stays in the saddlebag more often than not.
  10. I bet all his pack does not out weigh the motor of the bike. so at worst he is going to be replacing rear shocks more often. It obviously works...for thousands of miles it has worked. I also have to point out that if it were not safe he would not have Tippy on the back. If you watch the video of him riding his parts bike with no clutch or brakes, there is no Tippy in sight. I think he might love her too much to be crazy with her on the bike.
  11. Dang I wish ya'll could have reached me. I live on Nellis Air Force Base. The ride out to tonopah is a fun one. I like how cool it get when you get in the mountains. I should have checked the site last night. I would have made a quick run to tonopah to visit for a few. Oh well, I'll see ya'll in 7 or 8 days.
  12. Getting closer to my neck of the woods...or actually my corner of the sandbox. If you decide you want to come up near Area 51 for some alien hunting, I meet ya'll for a meal. if your venturing does not bring you up this way, I will see ya'll at venture west.
  13. True, the bell should stay with the bike.
  14. there is going to be 3 of us camping at the venture west gathering.
  15. buying the bike with one on is good. You bought the bike. the PO left the bell on as a gift to you. You are supposed to leave the bell on the bike. Also you are supposed to put the bell as low as it will go. I had to prod the wife to buy me a bell this time. I have been through 8 bikes in 9 years, she has only had to buy 2 bells, my mom (back seater on her husband's Harly, she knows the drill) bought one for my second bike, and all the rest came with bells.
  16. Now ducks we can talk about. Their motives are usually very simple. They cross roads to get to bodies of water.
  17. Besides the obvious slip up in the last paragraph where I used the word there instead of their, where else did I demonstrate my Texas public school edjumication.
  18. If it were a tree house the song would go something like this: :whistling:And down would come baby, craddle, and house and all:whistling: unless of course it was a very poorly designed tree house where infact the breaking of the bough would cause just the craddle to fall from the house with the baby inside. If that is the case we still should be questioning the motives of those bad parrents and leaving the poor chickens alone; which we have not even proven that they did anything in the first place to deserve their motives being questioned.
  19. I was well on topic. I was questioning if something was actually done. You would have to have an action to even begin to discuss motives of said action. If there was no action, then motives would be completely irrelevant. plus why are we so focused on the chicken? Cows jump over moons, forks run away with spoons, and eggs sit precariously on walls, and nobody questions their motives. Speaking of motives what parent puts there baby in a craddle and then places the craddle in the tree...or did they put the craddle in the tree and then place the baby in it?
  20. How can we even be sure that anyone or anything has ever crossed a road or will cross a road? Since the earth is in constant motion, what if the road crosses us, or crosses under us as some might say. How do we really know that we know anything?
  21. i am jealous. That is a good find right there. Is it coming out to The Dales so we can see it in person?
  22. 7K out the door for an 08 with that mileage is amazing. I paid almost that much for my 01 earlier this year with 9K miles.
  23. the vstar 650 is a very tame bike. It was my second bike. you can pick them up real cheap too. My first was a Honda Rebel 250. I could have skipped that and been okay.
