  1. I am doing another iron butt on my way home from pork in the pines on my soon to be new to me bike. It will still have a temp plate and I will have just bought it 5 days prior. Gotta let the new bike know what it's life is going to be like. Meets and long trips:)
  2. I did indeed go to the wrong intersection. That just means that I still have another adventure for later. I will get out there eventually.
  3. I just got the email from the IBA saying that my ride was certified from Venture West to home. My member # is 58582.

I just wanted to see it. It was voted Americas creepiest motel.
  5. Well I did not find the building, but I cannot call today a failure. As I was getting ready to leave, I saw another RSV at the gas station I was going to fill up at, so I had to go say hi. He is not a member of this forum, but he will be soon. He is from Wisconsin and was heading to see his brother in Idaho. He had a job in TX and then AZ and normally would have flown, but he figured the weather was good so why not ride... my kind of guy. When he finished in AZ he decided since he was on this side of the states that he would go see his brother. There were 3 routes to get to Idaho, he picked the one that went by Death Valley because he wanted to ride through it. That route is hundreds of miles out of the way. This morning his brother decided to ride out and meet him and ride the last day in with him. They were planning to meet around Tonopah. I let him know I was going there and he asked if he could ride with me. So we set out to go find his brother and an old building. We passed his brother and it took a little bit of time to catch back up with him, but we did. Then we all finished the ride to Tonopah. they pealed off and got some food and supplies for camping and I went looking for the building. I did not have as much daylight as I had planned. I drove all around 95 and 6 but could not find that place anywhere. I did not explore side streets due to lack of sunlight. I refueled and took a 100 mile ride in the moon lit desert with nothing but a few cars and tons of stars to keep me company. It was a great night, and of course I got Tyler to sign my bike. I did not get his brother to after we met him. I should have. He had a 2014 Tenere GS. It was very nice. I want one now. All in all, I could not have picked a better way to spend a day.
  6. Heading out right now to go find that building. Wish me luck.
  7. if you take a razor blade to the oregon state park sticker flap, the rest of the sticker will stick around a little longer.
  8. http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j169/coffeyR6/Venture%20West%202014/44A1ADD7-25AA-429C-A863-95CDA0200975.jpg there is my backrest. I do like it, when my bike is not fully loaded. I need to get a thinner backpack.
  9. I don't know the brand of my back rest, but it is the one that matches the pillow top seat. if I have a bag on the passenger seat, it pushes me way to far forward. Also riding in hot weather it presses my jacket up against my back and makes it hotter. It catches my vest and pushes it up my back. on long trips it is good for another seating position; I stand up and sit against it to rest my back side.
  10. I only hung out the trouble maker for a couple of days and he got me hooked on one of his addictions. I was on my way out to a remote site that we maintain and I saw this store on the way. I have been there before, but I had to stop. http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j169/coffeyR6/MISC/69DE066C-0E41-45AA-B663-44334D9EF2BD.jpg I had to pick up something for Exodus. I adorned her with her new decoration before I tucked her into bed. http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j169/coffeyR6/MISC/66359725-A1BA-4162-B49D-4BF369F6634A.jpg http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j169/coffeyR6/MISC/540E9F86-0952-4F9C-99F8-321B020B3ECD.jpg http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j169/coffeyR6/MISC/8647B4AF-90BB-49F9-B595-9866BAC0E2A1.jpg And yes I have a sharpie in my bike and I do plan on having the 3 other people, that are here with me, sign it. My name is CMCoffey and I am a sticker addict.
  11. two girls, and an adopted son trying to move you our west. we ride all year round out here. apparently I need to meet your daughters so we can team up to get you and Tippy out here. I am sure Venturefar would not mind the company either.
  12. I am laying in a hotel room 93 miles away from the intersection of 95 & 6 with Exodus (my RSV) sitting outside. Wednesday I will have good weather and some free time. I am going to go find that building. I'll post the pics when I get there.
  13. PM me your address and these are yours. http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j169/coffeyR6/MISC/4D7FB1B4-DE8A-4860-B7D4-D101BCC494B4.jpg http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j169/coffeyR6/MISC/278E573B-2896-41D2-9DA5-86F666017F6E.jpg

  17. no luck on finding dual sport tires that will fit the Venture. I will continue searching later. For now, I am going to order a set of Shinko 777s. those will last a little while.
  18. Have you seen the movie that cowpuc posted a while back with him riding through the sand on a trail.
  19. that is correct. 120/90-18 (65H) front 140/90-16 (71H) rear the rear tire is the hard one to find. Apparently Ventures are not meant for off-roading.
  20. I remember reading tire load specs on the front and rear tires for the 84 Venture, but I cannot remember where I found them. I am trying to find a dual sport tire set that will handle the load of the first Gen Venture.
  21. No thanks. Don't get me wrong, that thing is beautiful, but for that kind of money it better at least have a cassette deck.
  22. Heck with it. I will visit Canada later. Dang red tape.
  23. I have a passport (book and card). I will have insurance and can probably get a Canadian card before I head up there. Is South Dakota a state where the bike keeps the plate, or does the person keep the plate?
  24. nevermind, apparently you can "fix" it. You will always have little scratches in it though. I just live with mine.
