I was telling my wife i needed to get a venture that was as old as all of my kids (same month and year), but that is not possible now with a 2014 baby. And your are math is correct, I have 4 little blessings now.

Thanks EasyRider, this is daughter #2 so the shotgun is already at the house. Plus she has 2 older brothers who have taken Tae Kwon Do and currently play football. I almost feel sorry for any boy that mis-treats my baby girls...or even thinks about it.

I have luckily only had one brain injury that I know of. I was in a motorcycle wreck where I departed my bike and hung my ankles on my handle bars so that my body could smack down on the guys trunk. My helmet out a big dent in that car, then I flipped into the air and managed to land helmet first on the road. I was out cold. Since then, I have had anger issues and head aches pretty frequently. Some days when I wake up, I can tell my wife, that I am upset and do not know why. I will stay bitter most of the day. Usually the day before I get a bad head ache I feel completely out of it. I just do not care about anything and can't think straight. Hope all is relatively well with you.

I was just telling my wife that I am one of the few on this site that is still having kids instead of grand kids. I guess 30 makes me kind of young for a venture.

I have heard that some times Dogs and owners look alike. But this might be taking it a little far with you and tweeks. Both of you look like you have covered a few miles, both have a big personality that everybody can see, you both have the love of a very special Woman. You both don't have to be leaking important fluids. Tell your mechanic he needs to get you leak free by next riding season. hate that you have all this happening, but glad you found the leak before the motor blew...I'll be praying for a speedy recovery and that they patch you up better than you patched tweeks' exhaust.

I left that clan because nobody came to join me. I will gladly go back if any one else wants to join in there. it is open to 1st and 2nd gens. as far as fitting in, we all have some common interest here. Every clan i go too is always full of stupid chatter by young kids about nothing.

One of my many addictions. Someone from this site started a clan "Royal Ventures" a while back for those of us that ride our beloved bikes. Just putting this out there in case any of you also share in this addiction and want to find a clan you fit into.

Sorry to hear about your wreck. I hope you heal fast. As far as Venturewest goes, I'm gonna go out on a limb and speak for everyone when I say you are definately welcome, even if you are not riding a Yamaha. If you need help getting your trailer to the campsite, I can always swing by your place on my way to where ever.

Just make sure there are no Amish in the picture. Some groups still hold to the belief that photos are bad.

There are so many low mileage 1st gens out there just begging to be rescued and loved. Why try and fix what isn't broke. It as though Yamaha was thinking of you two when they made the first Venture.

I have been thinking a lot about you and Tippy on a 2nd gen. Because of its riding position and handling characteristics, you would be only allowed to travel on hard paved roads and very light travels on some hard packed trails. Sand and double tracking would be a thing of the past.

the closest I can get to that here in Las Vegas is a Taco Bell.

Now if we can just figure out how to get 2 ventures up there. Has to be first gens. 2nd gens don't do the adventure sport thing.

flights are getting expensive right now, but in January when you start going stir crazy, the flights will be much cheaper as long as you can get to a major airport on your end. The end of Feb/early March is beautiful riding weather. you could take Exodus or Genesis and go over the mountains to visit your daughter. I don't think they would allow you to attach a rack off the back of the airplane for all your gear though. I need to get your blueprint for that rack, Genesis is going to be jealous the first time she meets Tweeks.

When I got my 01, it had been sitting for 3 years, and would not run without the choke pulled all the way out. It did not matter how warm it was. I pulled the tank, pulled the air box, and put 1/2 of a large can of spray carb cleaner to work. they went from black and nasty to shiny and clean. the left side was so bad, you could not see the idle jets. so I suggest carb cleaner and air compressor. my 01 runs like a fat kid towards a buffet.

How do you take the seat off of a 1st gen?

I have the pillow top seat on my 01, but I have not sent it to Rick Butler yet. Once I do that things might be different. I have an aftermarket seat on my 84.

You have peaked my interest, so I will check it out for you. I am almost 100% sure it will not work. I don't think y'all would like a second gen. After being on my 1st gen, the second gen seems small and the seats are small and pretty instead of the big comfortable couch that my 1gen has. Just remember Tweeks is a sport touring bike where as a 2nd gen is just a touring bike.

I feel like I am missing something. I have never ridden either of my 2 ventures to a DQ. I have actually never gone out for ice cream on my ventures. I feel like such an outsider. I need to fix this issue soon.
