  1. I have the 777s on my 1st gen, it did well in the rainy north, Colorado mountains, Utah/arizona desert, and dry flat land when it stopped raining in Nebraska. that was just my first two days with my new tires. I will be getting a set for my 2nd gen next year when I get back home.
  2. I found out yesterday that I am deploying to Qatar for a year. I have to be in country by 7 Sept 2015. Talk about short notice.
  3. Looks like I am going to 10k ft soon. My bike is going to pop like crazy. It sounded like a firing range at 6.8k ft.
  4. On my 1984, from South Dakota to Nevada, I averaged about 85 mph. I think I was tripple digit in the Colorado mountains, but I could not look down at the speedo; I was way too busy looking for the next curve and grinning from ear to ear. Like others have said, these girls like to rev high and ride fast. Adjust it so you are comfortable on it, and get some good tires, then go play and see what your particular bike likes to do best. Both of mine love mountains and fresh air.
  5. It's all dry in there. You should remember driving through the desert; there is no residual water anywhere. The bulb I installed yesterday is still working. That is a day longer than the last one. Time will tell, but I think I got something on the other bulb. This current one was handled with latex gloves.
  6. I do have my bike wired for a trailer too, if that makes any difference.

Everything looks good. I have not put a new bulb in since I replaced the backup fuse. I am buying a much cheaper headlight tomorrow to see if that fuse fixed the problem.
  8. Where are y'all tonight. The top says nobody is chatting. Friday or Saturday would be a good time to break the record
  9. Running 14.2 when revved up. I think the regulator is fine.
  10. My low beam headlights blew. So I replaced the bulb and now the new bulb blew. My radio was dead after the battery issue in Texas, but I replaced the backup fuse and now the radio works. I am looking for suggestions on where to go next. Obviously I need to go buy a new headlight, but you gotta keep blowing headlights a $25 a pop.
  11. I am at 13K on e3's. Not bad. They looked good when I left Texas. The desert killed my rear tire.
  12. Made it home to a comfortable 108 degrees. The mountain passes in Arizona were fun, but I now need a new rear tire. Heat + trailer + curves = trashed tire. They survived though.
  13. Well now I am pinned down by a storm. I just want to find a hotel and go to sleep.
  14. Sorry Puc, phone does not take pics anymore. Got a little wet one of the times I was stuck in a down pour.
  15. I am sitting next to a Suzuki RE5. I did not even know they made Rotary engine bikes. Now I need one.
  16. Dead battery is the verdict. Charging system is good. 4+ years is good out of on battery. As cheap as they are, they are on a 24month rotation from now on.
  17. Cowpuc, you have to stop by Sharps Motorsports the next time you are in Amarillo. They have a museum of bikes in here. Old Indians, BSA, 1961 Sportster.
  18. I'll be at Sharps Motorsports from 0900 until my bike is fixed if anyone wants to stop by and say hi.
  19. I got the bike across the street from Sharp's Motorsports. That hotel did not have any room, so I am about 1/2 mile away. Shop opens @ 0900 tomorrow. I'll replace the starter solenoid and batter, or what ever else they tell me.
  20. The sound is from the little black relay box that the positive battery cable goes to. It has two 30 amp fuses on the side. About to dig in more and see if the fuses are okay.
  21. On closer inspection the fast clicking sounds like it is coming from behind the battery. Any ideas?
  22. Starter sounds like a mini gun, bike does not even try to fire. Phillips 66 exit 23 on I-40 if anyone is near by. Text 405-208-1370.
  23. I have a lunatic case which is great when you first buy them, but they need to be replaced from time to time to keep them waterproof. The rubber around the headphone jack is loose and it let water in. My next phone is going to be the Samsung S5. it is waterproof, but I will put it in a water proof lunatic case anyway. I will replace the case every 6 months. I like the heavy metal casing on it.
  24. Sorry Puc, no pics. I had to pick it up right away and get it in a parking spot. Plus i found out the hard way that riding a motorcycle through torrential down pour with a phone in your back pocket is not wise. Phone works for the most part, but the camera is dead. I get a new phone in 9 days. Then I can take pictures of my return trip to Las Vegas.
