  1. Sorry that I went away for so long. I stopped riding and sold one of my bikes. I still have my Feb 1984 bike. Venturefar, sorry I did not return you call for several years. You called me right after I just got in a car crash and I kept forgetting to call you back. Just found your message when I was going through voicemails. Puc, how has it been brother. I hope all is well and that your health concerns are out of the way for a while. Anyone else I met at the Dales OR. Several years ago, sorry I ghosted for so long. I am going to get my 84 back on the road soon. If you are in the Vegas area, hit me up to ride.
  2. after I patch up all my plastics and decide on a color, I will be using Plasti dip for all the plastics. It is easy to use and I can change colors every few years.
  3. Dang, I spent too much time away from the forum, I live in Las Vegas and always jump at the chance to meet up with fellow Venture riders.
  4. If you have an MK1, you should ride that over there. I will be riding my 84 to test ride the 18 whenever one gets semi close to me. show everyone where the bike came from.
  5. I syncd the carbs (they were way off), I also adjusted everything to fit me better (handle bars, foot pegs and controls. I also flipped my shifter over so now I am 1 up and 4 down; Moto GP style. I removed the leg guards as well.
  6. Where in Texas did you work? The only reason I ask is because my dad worked at TU Electric in Glen Rose TX when I was very young.
  7. Can you take a picture and tell us what all you replaced and where the air is coming from? I am a visual thinker
  8. I have driven both the M1078 and the M1083 on several occasions. I have also driven a Toyota Hilux, a Dawoo, and a funny looking Hyundai minivan. http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j169/coffeyR6/MISC/634735_6002_160_0001.jpg http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j169/coffeyR6/MISC/m1078_lmtv.jpg
  9. Oh I definitely dropped the bike. That is where the $5 donation came from. I am 5'7" 180lbs; when a 900lb bikes starts to go over, I let it fall.
  10. Yeah, I got the notification about needing to pay dues last week. I was being lazy about logging on and doing it. So today I was riding my 84 and decided to stand up and see just how comfortable it is (puc's favorite riding position according to his video). It was quite comfortable, but I have a back rest on my bike that fell forward. So I no longer had a seat. I tried a few things to get the seat rest up before finally thinking that I could stop in front of my house and just straddle it and lean left a little more than normal. So half way through that idea I find myself stepping off my bike completely. Luckily no neighbors saw me. Of if they did, they haven't said anything yet. On the upside hoping on to pay the $5 was a perfect time to pay my dues. So you all are stuck with me for 1 more year.
  11. I can store it with my bike and trailer. I happen. To live in Las Vegas.
  12. Let me know when you get anywhere near NV. I have no family for 2 weeks, so I can take off on Genesis whenever. 405-208-1370
  13. Glad you made it back and were still able to have a good trip despite all the set backs.
  14. Just incase this was for me, here are some pics to hold the hounds off until I get back from Texas and get some good pictures and a video or two. http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j169/coffeyR6/84%20Venture/PHOTO_20170624_214527.jpg http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j169/coffeyR6/84%20Venture/PHOTO_20170624_214545.jpg http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j169/coffeyR6/84%20Venture/PHOTO_20170624_214614.jpg Her trailer and hitch are in front of her. I will be installing the hitch when I get home after doing some slight modifications to it.
  15. Well, I leave in two days and have all but decided to take my car. I want to take the bike, but my left arm has been hurting for a few weeks now. I think I may have a pinched nerve in my shoulder. Pulling the clutch in is kind of painful in traffic. Taking the car also allows me to help the wife out by taking the bad kid with me. That will at least give my wife a peaceful ride to Texas in the Van. I am coming back 2 weeks before them, so the ride back will still be tough. When I get back, I will do a pretty long ride out to an old abandoned town where Puc and Tippy took refuge 2 or 3 years ago so I can look for their artwork. After all, Genesis has been asking to stretch her legs for a week now.
  16. I haven't left yet. I am leaving Monday. It will still be hot which still makes me nuts. I am riding to and from work everyday day this week to make sure the bike is good to go. "Genesis" is one smooth lady. I might head north before I make my return trip. It will depend on how tired I am.
  17. Got my 84 completely put back together again. I realized while putting it together that I can flip the shifter and make it GP shifting (1 up 5 down). That is how I like to run my sport bikes. I need to get the handle bars and pegs adjusted perfectly for me. Since she has been down for 2 years, I figured I would welcome her back to the road with a trip from Las Vegas NV to Ft Worth TX. I leave in 7 days. Even with the 112 degree temperature today, I had a blast riding. I will be riding to and from work all week just to try and catch as many bugs as possible before I get hundreds of miles from home.
  18. My next bike will be one of 4 possibilities. In order of what I want is Super Tenere, FJR, 2nd Gen RSV, R6. As you can tell, I love Yamaha.
  19. http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j169/coffeyR6/84%20Venture/PHOTO_20170617_181508.jpg http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j169/coffeyR6/84%20Venture/PHOTO_20170617_181520.jpg http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j169/coffeyR6/84%20Venture/PHOTO_20170617_181533.jpg http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j169/coffeyR6/84%20Venture/PHOTO_20170617_181541.jpg I apparently like leaning left more too. I will get rid of the rear strips once I put the bike back together. I pretty much just got her a few years ago and rode her from South Dakota to Nevada and only took her on a couple rides before her battery died. I then left her dead for about 6 months and then got deployed for a year. I have been back and working on her for about 6 months now. So she has been down for 2 years. I will treat her right and scrape some engine and bag guards soon. I'll post pictures after my Texas trip in 2 weeks.
  20. On my sport bikes I always got rid of my rear chicken strips. The chicken strips on your front tire are the hardest to get rid of. I only ever did that on my 2006 R6 with track style riding in the Twisties.
  21. I had an MK1 and a 2nd gen. My wife suggested I thin the herd until after I retire from the military and I sold my 2001. I will never get rid of my MK1. Yamaha messed up big time on that bike. They meant to make a touring bike, but that was before the Star line. All they knew was sport bikes, so they slapped some bags and a trunk on a vicious little (almost 900lbs) street demon. In 5 years when I retire from the Air Force, I will let you know what I think about MK2s and possibly the 3rd gen. I will probably buy another 2nd gen, and definitely buy a few more MK1s.
  22. You are not too far from where I got stranded 2 years ago. If you had just waited a few weeks I would hop on the bike and come help out however I could. I will be in the Fort Worth area on my 1984. Let us know when you get free. I think there are a few people in the Amarillo area.
  23. The shipping on it was free, but as you can see from the map below, I have never ridden in Michigan, so I might just come up for the company, some good riding, and hot dogs. Right now I am getting her ready for a trip to Texas, so Michigan will have to wait a little while.
  24. Nice new toy. I have always loved Yamaha sport bikes. I owned 2 R6s myself and will probably own another one in the future. http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j169/coffeyR6/R6137a.jpg http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j169/coffeyR6/IMG_4950.jpg
  25. Big favor to ask. If anyone has a picture of that style bumper/hitch installed, can you post it here. The wife is trying to figure out how it will look. All I can find is the bigger bumper.
