Mesh works to keep you cool. But no so good as protection. The idea behind mesh is to be cool and have something to hold CE rated armor. Ideally. Last July was the warmest I have ever ridden in at length. Three weeks of southern touring. That's me on the Tail of the dragon in July in a tuxedo - actually its leather trousers and a white tux shirt both with mesh BonArmor under them. I was actually very comfortable. The white long sleeve shirt reflected the sun and the mesh bonarmor really cooled me. Although its no it CE rated. Then I moved into draggin jeans with kevlar over the bon armor and a textile jacket. That also worked. I have a kydex holster factory at my house. I formed some up to slip in the pockets of the bon armor and its better than CE rated if you ask me. Anyone can do this just order some kydex in large enough sheets. I get 4x8 for $75 cut to size toast it and form it right to your body using a towel and foil. Videos about working with kydex on YouTube. Is really easy. You can find many motorcycle uses for it. And you can re use it . But in short nothing beats bon armor s mesh suits for good protection in hot weather. At night is down right chilly. Any air that moves over it makes it fell like AC. And it fits under anything. Jeans suits rain gear whatever its the best money I have ever spent on gear. Plus it washes up in a sink and hung to dry its ready in the am for another ride.

There is a specific method to pick up a dropped bike. Even a woman weighing 98 lbs soaking wet can do it when the method is followed. Shoukd be taught in MSF course. Ride like a pro video demonstrates it and you can search you tube on how to pick up a motorcycle. Never touch the front brake under 10mph is a good tip. And if you find yourself going off balance like that again apply rear. Brake and feather the clutch out with a little throttle and that will get it to stand back up long enough to get you footing. Two types of riders.....those that have been down and those that will go down. Happens to the best. No broken bones is a plus!

I just installed the 100 led custom dynamics crisp and bright. Was plug and play 3 min install. -
I have the Customdynamics LED Light kit which includes both sets of turn signals. Front and rear. Its a direct fit LED boards that plug into stock sockets. Here is where the problem comes in. No 1. You have to hard wire in the LED flasher. Seems simple enough two wires, Maybe add a clip to the end and replace the stock one after finding the steady hot and the Flashing hot. Soon as I find the flasher. LOL I can look it up but feel free to point. And here is the hard part because I hate cutting a factory wire. They have some resistors that they say must go in line to the Turn signal indicator wire. That would be the wire that makes the light flash on the dash. I am guessing this is a split the fairing JOB? Or can I hit it under the tank somewhere? I have not seen anyone post they have installed THIS kit but if so. Clue me in, Or I'll be first.

For the CB?

Yes this is an old thread BUT there is new news, I ordered a set of G3 Edsets last night and first time I looked at them a few days ago there was no option, but now they have an Option for an upgraded speaker, I think they call it the Thunderclap option, About $12 extra, So who would pass that up? So if they were good as everyone says in this thread, they are BETTER now. NEWS you can USE.

Well I just put em in last night e 3 36 $25 for four. The stock plugs looked new, so thats good news. Will have to find a new socket for the tool kit as it is a 5/8 as mentioned, different than stock. Just to see I always try the stock tool ket to do something, HA it was about worthless, I almost emptied the drawers of my tool box just changing the plugs. That worries me. LOL Might as well toss that kit.

I have the E 3 in the Roadstar as they are prone to carbon build up on the rear cyl. And SVS (Sticky Valve Syndrome) They seemed to help out on that and been reliable, so I was thinking about putting some on my 08 Venture. Its E3.36 as listed on their web site. Im about to pull the trigger on some myself when I do some wiring and have the tank off anyways. I think a Ran Splitfire once and there was hardly a difference when I went to the e3. I just stuck with e 3 because I never had a problem and never heard anything bad about them. Anyone currently running them chime in?

customdynamics.com Lots of stuff.

The alignment could be off. If its way off at speed in a turn it will make one turn easier than the other. Too many ways to align to explain plenty info on a goolge. Happened to me once. On a trip, many stops and adjustments to get it right on the way to the Tail. It was scary in a right curve and zipped right around a left no problem. And that would also cup the front tire, as its fighting to plant. It could be one thing AND a combination so try one thing at a time. Starting with cheapest and easiest first of course. OR, Just go by a Road Glide!

Man it's starting to look like a Venture! Grab Bars and all!

Hey Freebird, I bought a trailer off a HD guy who upgraded, He left that cable that goes from the trailer hub to the odometer on the bike while you tow it. I'll let it go cheap. He paid extra for the quick disconnects.

I know several people who have late model HDs and they all changed the seat to an HD upgrade after the first long trip. Dialing in a new bike. Factory seats should be outlawed.

Guess this answers my question if you were sticking with a venture or not.

For those that run things from the CIG power outlet. You can buy a 2A (amp) two outlet cig power adapter. It plugs into the CIG socket and makes it two USB. This makes it easier to handle, you can power a GPS or charge a cell phone off it. Plus you can buy a ten foot mini USB at big box store. I use one outlet to charge my phone and the other with the ten foot cord to power my go pro camera. Also the USB type cords can snake into a saddle bag easier allowing you to charge up while running in the rain. If you need to seal anything use Rescue Tape. You can Google that. Be sure to get a two amp CIG to USB as this is what is needed to per today's smartphone and tablets. I see them at truck stops a lot. About $15.[ame=http://compare.ebay.com/like/300624325160?var=lv<yp=AllFixedPriceItemTypes&var=sbar]ATT SAMSUNG GALAXY S-2 SKYROCKET GRIFFIN POWERJOLT DUAL USB CAR CHARGER ADAPTER on eBay![/ame]

Motorcyclist Struck by lighting near Grandfather Mountain
IronMike replied to etcswjoe's topic in Safety and Education
My RSV came with the lightning rods from the factory, no idea why the out both on the trunk.. Shouldn't one be near the front to better protect the operator (Me). Must be pretty common because the one on the left has some kind of black rod mending patch on it about the middle. And it has wires that go into the grounding block under the trunk. -
Thanks. The guys at roadstarclinic.com have a similar site and plenty of info and used parts. Is a solid bike.

Anyone have "little known secrets" about 2nd Gen
IronMike replied to VentureFar's topic in Watering Hole
Well, good to know I did not already trash my ODO on my 2nd Gen. But dont try re setting the clock at speed, the tires don't do well in soft ground. -
I feel pretty good I found everything in two days, Freebird helped me so I guess I cheated. The plug under the seat, I think I might hook a relay to it and use it as a trip for some real power for something, Maybe a Blender so I can mix drinks while I listen to old cassettes.

http://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d139/usmcxterra/75407849.jpg This is my RoadStar Midnight Silverado, AKA UltraStar, StarGlide, Starley, Etc. LOL 07 Lots of MODs, LED Lights all over, Hardley tour pack Custom Sound system 6.5 in the rear 6x9s in Reckless fairing, JVC head unit, Progressive adjustable Rear, And up front. Total lock up clutch, Darkside Austone Taxi Tire, Metz Rear on front. Ultimate seats, The list of parts and Labor so long I am going to have to put it back to stock to sell it and part out the rest, shame. But the 08 RSV seems to be a more nimble touring bike, but this Roadstar handles like a dream. If I can't sell it for what I want, its going to be easy to keep it. It is more a one up bike. No matter how much you put into the suspension. You'll ;ove the Roadstar and The Roadstar Clinic.com is to Roadstars what the Venture Rider is to Ventures. Go get em!

Something wierd with my engine..
IronMike replied to Winddancer's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
yeah in the reserve position true. and put fresh gas in with the sea foamnot meaning to run straight seafoam. Go to realgas.com or org whatever and see if you can buy non ethanol gas. Or a local marina. If it is the gas the fuel filter is blocked from full flow. And new spark plugs can't hurt. I'm taking on same problem this way on an 08 rsv that was incorrectly stored last year by po. -

IronMike replied to Winddancer's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
No one said dump a whole can of seafoam in it and ride it like you stole it! ??? I agree. Drain the tank at the petcock. Put a can of seafom in . change the fuel filter and run that out. Then I'd no cure take a look into the next cheapest cure. Some irridium plugs. -
Oddly enough that crime ridden area has had virtually no crime since the shooting. Huh! Only in America can a Brown man shoot a Black man and the white man gets blamed.
