  1. My veins are clogging just reading this thread. Quick aspirin!
  2. http://www.revzilla.com/tour-master-boots Have 60k miles riding on these side zip Tourmaster solution motorcycle specific boots recommended by iron Butt rider's totally waterproof always and you can walk all day in them, ankle and toe protection and a shift pad. For a motorcycle specific option.
  3. Yea "You can be dead right". And in this case they look like that's what happened.
  4. Well if you click on clasifieds then Vendors, and Carbon one, a user here, he has several things for sale. I picked the Jack Stand, A Venture will be damaged by a Motorcycle jack without the adaptor or some risky shimming with Wood blocking. For $155 delivered, I am not going to chance it. So I got the Adaptor and glad I did. On the J&S jack, I wanted one for a long time but bought a Sears and a HF jack, so I wasted money on them because I ended up with the J&S jack anyways, last Jack I will ever own, Should have bought it first time. I did manage to wait until the local Motorcycle show and he was there with my Jack and loaded it up so i did not have to pay the shipping. Real nice guy. Real nice tool that Jack is, and it matches the Carbon one in fit and finish, same Coating exactly. If you really are new to working on your bike. At Shop rates for repairs, you can pay for the jack in just a few repairs you do on your won with the jack and information you gain here on this site. IMHO no one should ppay or rely on a shop to do their work on a bike unless its last resort, They cannot do the same quality job or take time to do extra things like polish or replace things "While you are in there." They are in it for money, and they will suck you right out of owning a bike. If you work on it, you will now it and you will be a much safer rider for it. The tools to work on it, are free once the savings of labor is realized. And the time spent at a Shop, not riding and waiting. You get the idea. Dive in!
  5. Well I think you will need Carbon one's Adaptor for one. Sold here as a Vendor, and then my first choice would be, http://jsjacks.com/products-page/product-motorcycle-lifts/motorcycle-lift/ Because, and watch at least until 1.30 seconds, [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7uZASYnXOvM]J&S Jacks Big Wheel Motorcycle Lift - YouTube[/ame] it REALLY does work like that! I bought two MC lifts, none would hold the bike under ALL working situations, one tire off, both off, either off, and Spin and roll across the shop. It IS amazing! And I have the T handle and the oil drain pan too, all works perfectly! Lifetime warrany, Who else does that! That thing is insane!
  6. Sold me on that one Larry, now fabricate a adapter for my 2008 RS and send it out! BTW really impressed with the one I have, Think Im going to do pins in the legs in place of bolts, but really nice finish and fit. Could no do without it. Don't trust boards.
  7. No idea they had one. Got a New Dl today and it has a Military service icon on there, not as good as an EGA but it'll do. Ooorahh!
  8. Well, I had just seen two pretty violent accidents, and when I saw yours, I was like "ok time to hang this bike up! It's stupid day!" I could kinda tell what happened just rolling up on the aftermath. The feeling is sick to your stomach and gut wrenching, You don't know what to do, people are already helping out and you feel like you might piss someone off or get into the way, so its a slow escape from the scene feeling sorry for the riders and figuring you will ALWAYS wonder what happened. In this case, amazingly I know. Trust me when I say, I though you both bought the farm! ATGATT certainly played into you making your own luck. I was in ALL my gear to as hot as it was that day. I am not so familiar with the first gen bike, and maybe I did not look at the bike so close, other than it was up side down, I seriously thought it was a GW and I came home and posted what I just saw on FB. Then read about it here 2 days later. Like WOW! I am So glad you two are alright and look Fwd to Meeting you someday. Get a new bike and I am in line to buy you a Bell. Everything happens for a reason. Everything.
  9. The final results are in! Do not waste your money! About the only use I can see for these are making an old set of cheapo Frogg Toggs waterproof again and thats about it! Anything I used it on, it wore off quickly. Everything had the White looking frosty look. It will work fine if you want to waterproof something then not use it or touch it. But touching it wears it off and your back to where you started, For instance, you do gloves and then hold the grips, within hours where it touched the grips it has no water repellent. So that's a $20 bill down the drain and 3 hours of my life I can't get back.
  10. My neighbor has one, said come on over and use it anytime. So I figured I will buy THIS one http://www.harborfreight.com/high-position-motorcycle-lift-99887.html Sine he said I can use THAT one. About twice a month he comes over to use mine, I have yet to go use his, Seems every trick we do requires a wheel to spin. And its great for putting out in the driveway and jacking up the bike and washing it. Amazing the stability of the thing. And, its cheaper. My second Jack is the J&S jacks.com Also an amazing Jack, you can move and spin your bike on it jacked up, with just one finger. But I did notice the dealer has they drive up jack.
  11. Half of my family is from AL. So I'm going to try to be there. Do an Iron Butt down and drift back up.
  12. Well I just installed my woo loo and I used the reg relay a sealed it up with that new style super glue, then I wrapped it in the RESCUE TAPE Google that it DOES do everything it says it does I been using it for years made a fan belt out of it once. But in this case I sealed off the wire end of the relay with it then top coated it with electric tape. Shot some WD 40 in there and relay is under side cover, should outlast me. RESCUE TAPE also sold in as seen on TV area sometimes but what is there is not as good but same stuff just maybe thinner and lessor quantity than real rescue tape, It should be in your side bag all the time. Great for sealing off wire connections and fixing leaks.
  13. I got caught up in the garbage truck wreck first one not hit. Same news feed on wkbn, then I worked around it trying to go to cooks forest pa and another wreck 82 and 7. So I worked my way back down 11 to go to star supply in Youngstown and I saw your accident about 20 minutes after. I thought it was a gold wing. But I'm sure it was same accident. Pretty confusing area at the time and your bike was like almost up side down. I pulled over and someone was waiting to talk to trooper and told me car forced you off the road and stopped. I was surprised he stopped. Wow small world. Don I thought you was at the hotel still yet. It was just the next exit down . That whole are is dangerous. Dangerous in a hurry cagers all over.
  14. I heard that they have little or no grease on them right out of the factory. Mine was in for it @5K and thats what it was, no grease. Dealer said it was pretty common.
  15. The Jest of it is, if you get into a high speed weave, lay down on the tank. Excellent post. The probability of a flat-er rear tire when matched with a new front may explain some of the scary stuff that happens when some light weights go to the darkside and do not change the front tire to a rear.
  16. That's great for a three day weekend. Should be out of your system for a while. Next weekend do it on a Venture and let us know what was better.
  17. Your welcome. Each picture I avoid typing 1000 words Chinese day. A member told me what a pita it is to mount a rack. Not when you do it with this tool. Easy.
  18. I think the man is right, Jason MOD taken to the proper level, you would need that much flow between the cylinders to make it effective. Someone probably realized that, had the insight to make it happen. Humm, yea, How would you sync?
  19. on a second gen, its easy to change the oil any time.
  20. Installing things that require holes! In this period of instruction you will learn how to professionally install a rack or any other part such as a fender ornament, Etc. You will know how to do this when done reading and this article will come to mind when you need it. (Use these instructions to supplement the instructions that came with your accessory.) On THIS install you will omit the part where you only drill two holes, you will drill all four at once. Thats what the tools are for! I do not give times in my How to's because every person has to look for tools and works at a different pace. I hate it! When someone says they did it in 10 minutes and it takes me an hour! I feel like an idiot! So who cares about the time, Take YOUR time and do it right. Ok So You have ordered your new trunk rack The hardest thing to do is to get it on centered and by drilling only the holes you need and only the right size holes. In particular the Yamaha rack is very forgiving but this install will prevail even in situations that are crucial. Make the surface you are working on LEVEL! In this case I used a Carbon One Jack adapter and jacked mine up. The side stand thing will drive you crazy as you align it. So Level it! http://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d139/usmcxterra/Venture%202008/IMG_0497_zps3de1cf2b.jpg THIS is the secret! Its a spoiler install tool Pretty much you can make one. Just get a large zip tie and a rivet that will fit into the mounting hole of the article you are trying to install. The reason is has to be a rivet is so it will stay in the hole you will drill in the zip tie with the head of it, and that it has a HOLE going through the center so you can use it as a pilot hole. So, pick your rivet, a large enough zip tie, drill a hole in zip tie, put rivet through hole and hold it in with masking tape. You are ready. http://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d139/usmcxterra/Venture%202008/IMG_0498_zps82dbd691.jpg Find the center of your install platform, in this case the trunk. Once found mark it and Put a Cross hair on it. I use MM as a method of measuring as I find it easier and more accurate. I used a FREE tape measure from Ikea! FREE FREE FREE! http://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d139/usmcxterra/Venture%202008/IMG_0493_zps9af98b7c.jpg What you do is stick your tool (The one you made) into the mounting hole on all of the mounting holes, (As pictured) Yes you need a tool for each hole, in this case Four. Put Masking Tape (I like the green painters type) on the trunk where the rack is going to meet the paint so you can easily mark and not scratch your paint up as you move the tools on the paint getting your rack in the right place. http://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d139/usmcxterra/IMG_0503_zpsdf4b4556.jpg Here it is, centered and marked and tools taped down securely. At this point the rack is put on the trunk with the tools in the mounting holes and moved around 100 times until you get it perfectly in line and measured as many times as it takes. Measure, look at it, Measure front to back, left to right, from one corner to the side, you get the idea. You are going to get it perfect and the little tools will hold it in place as you do. (Otherwise it will try to slide off and drive you crazy, so the tools serve dual purpose. (This install calls for it to be 1.5 inches from the rear of the Backrest padding) At FIRST have all four tools under the rack but only have two taped down. You can put pressure on the tape enough to slide it a little for adjustments. When you are satisfied with the positioning........ http://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d139/usmcxterra/Venture%202008/IMG_0509_zpsa246e4e8.jpg Tape all four tools down very securely and remove the rack straight up. NOT MOVING ANY TAPED DOWN TOOLS! Pictured above is what you will have left ....four tools securely fastened to the trunk in the exact spot that needs drilled. http://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d139/usmcxterra/Venture%202008/IMG_0510_zpsba1a87dd.jpg Proceed to use a drill that will fit into the hole on your tool. It will be a small pilot hole, Go ahead and drill all four holes for you are absolutely sure they are in the right place. THEN remove the tools from the surface of the trunk and using a Piloted drill bit drill all FOUR holes to the proper size. This Yamaha Rack calls for 11/32 drill bit. http://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d139/usmcxterra/Venture%202008/IMG_0512_zpsc021cc8a.jpg The small pilot hole that you just drilled is followed by a piloted 11/32 drill bit. Piloted drill bits makes for an easy drilling of the second hole and gets it right on center perfectly. http://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d139/usmcxterra/Venture%202008/IMG_0513_zps0b8c36b1.jpg Next you follow the instructions on how to use your hardware, Do Not! use Loctite on the hardware, remember this is ABS plastic and it will harm it. I use RV Glue in each hole, then inserted the hardware in proper sequence and put the rack on by myself. I admit another hand would be of use here. And I did have to go back and make one hole slightly larger to accommodate small variance of the rack mounting holes. SLIGHTLY! The RV glue got on the threads, and the flat Brackets in a good kind of way sealing and preventing the bolts from backing out. (RV glue dries but remains flexible and removable. made by GOOP found at RV stores and some hardware and dept stores, similar product may be used, or, none at all. I want my rack to be sealed and stay on!) Use alcohol to clean up any excess glue. Presto! There you have it! An absolute foolproof way to install a trunk rack! Sticky it! MODS move as needed. 21. Yea I'm a truck driver, and I passed it a million times too, There is a state lake near there that is a big attraction to Muskie fishermen about that same area, So I thought it was something pertaining to that. LOL Since I have been back by there Exit 25 off I77 Go west, I think its SR78 anyways, TENS of times, When I go to the Dragon, I go that way, pass Muskie Bucket, stop, ride down to whatever town, cross the river take 555 back to Marietta where there is the most fantastic Chinese Buffet in all the world on the North side of the road going into town. Even some experienced riders are ify about 555, I talked to one the other day who was, and this guy is major Sport bike rider works at the Yami shop, he said he don't like it because its missing the signage that would tell you what curve is next. Heck, I just look up at the trees to tell what way the road is going to turn next. Anyways, Yea, if around there don't pass that one up. If you plan on going, hit me up for a guided tour, if work has me pissed at the time I might just call off!
  22. I JUSt let my brother take mine for a spin and I warned him about the weight before the kick stand went up, He almost lost it twice anyways. But He liked it. That was close.
  23. Don, you laughed out loud at me when I said bring long Johns. Ok, I got the last LOL And maybe you read my PM too late. LOL When I say its a Four season ride, I mean it! But I think thats what it's all about Welcome to the club! Its something you will never forget, The more you do, different stuff happens, And you get the Mile Eater award. Funny stuff! LOL
  24. If it runs and sounds ok, I would just use chepo gear oil a few times. I would toss a 10Z% dose of Lucas Oil Stabilizer in there each time and when it comes out clean, fill it for the long haul. Yea the water is from sitting, You didn't run it long enough to do any damage. If it aint broke don't fix it.
  25. Well if you have an 08 your OK, just stay off the crap freeways. See you at the ohio state game, its always our game.
