  1. When I looked at it I was wondering what a Ventura was, like is it different. a?
  2. Just get longer bolts and make your own spacers, Yamaha sells some chrome washers really thick. buy two inches worth, thats how they work, ask for an inch when they mean two.
  3. Well we need to STOP buying until they give me a FULL refund no restocking fee taken out for the part they lied and said FITS. AND until they make a REAL kit for our Ventures they CAN do it, They just ignore us, and KILLER is I just sent 3 HD friends to their site and each spent over $400. That won't be happening anymore.
  4. Well all beware, Their KIT they SAY fits VENTURE comes with too many parts, and not enough. And other members have told them this and they did not fix the issue. It says. Fits: All V Star 1100 & 650, all Road Star (ex. Warrior) and all '99-'08 Royal Star Models; Does not fit Raider ANd just like some have found we have two flashers and we do not need the resistors for the turn signals. BUT you will need a load equalizer and it gets hot! And dont even think of using your flashers in an emergency for more than a minute. They were great on the phone while they were selling me lights but when I went to return the kit unopened sent US mail $11, they called me back and said there is a $25 restocking fee. FOR A KIT THEY SAID WOULD FIT? Its under protest now and they are using my money until further notice. They have the lights AND my money. The real problem is, THEY CAN make a plug and play kit, they just wont listen to us and keep sending the generic metric kit like its custom for a Venture. Its not.
  5. Anyone else doing this, BEWARE until they fix it. If you go to their site and click on Yamaha then Venture it takes you to a KIT and there it says. Fits: All V Star 1100 & 650, all Road Star (ex. Warrior) and all '99-'08 Royal Star Models; Does not fit Raider...... So to me that meant plug and play, However when I called they informed me it was an extra $65 for the plug in LED Flasher, But I went for the wire in one thinking I could use wire taps and not cut the Factory harness. Then HUBBFD told me its not that simple, you need a load equalizer and toss the diode or resister kit for the turn signals as we don't need em. AND since it requires a load equalizer, they suggest you don't turn on your flashers for any length of time (What other time do you turn them on? So I wasnt willing to go for all that and I decided to return them and do something else. I returned them Unopened, Never even opened em up based on what I learned about the install, Today they called and said I either have to order more lights or pay $25.00 restocking fee on top of the $11 Postage I paid to send em back. Ok I GUESS if you order something and it dont work out, but it says on their site it FITS 2008 leading you to believe its PLUG and play and its not even close! It has stuff in there we do not need and does not have stuff we do. I was on a time limit, I can't be jacking with it. I asked for 100% of my money back based on the fact that they list it as a kit and its not, you need to buy extra stuff, thats bait and switch. AND they KNOW about it, because other members have TOLD me they TOLD them and STILL they ship the kit with the wrong stuff. They said wait until Monday, and we will see if you get your money back or not. Fits: All V Star 1100 & 650, all Road Star (ex. Warrior) and all '99-'08 Royal Star Models; Does not fit Raider..... Its their mistake for listing it wrong, not including the right stuff and including things you don't need confusing you even more. Its a generic kit and they only thing it has in common with our bikes is the end that plugs into the turn signal socket, thats it. \ I think you will have $300.00 into it in just parts to get it to work. Stay tuned see if they fix it. Ill post it if they do and if they steal my money Ill be sure I post on every site known to man on my Paid layovers in hotels for 26 hours at a time. Yep! Im pissed! ANd by the way, if you put a license plate bulb in line, it will do same thing as the HOT equalizer and not as much heat. But im trying to keep it neat and easy to maintain and what good is the reliability of LEW with light bulbs in line and equalizers anyways?
  6. Ah YES! The info I was looking for! Dig up old info, Hummmm I saw freebird and he didnt even mention the color of the horn wire. Same on 2nd Gen? Pink? And did you have to bring it up into the fairing or did you hit it in there. Im about to do this, I didnt want the horn seen chrome or not. And was wondering about the sound. I want to do this one, I have the horn! Whooohoooo! or looooo EDIT: Here: http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=500 you idiot and quit digging up old threads and replaying to them and answering your own questions. Do a SEARCH FIRST! LOL
  7. Call or look on Custom dynamics web site. Me gots a Road* too!
  8. My dealer said Silica FREE only. It trashes the water pump if its in there. He said it way SAY it on the container that it contains no silicone. AND it must be safe for aluminum engines. When I checked it out, it was Prestone that met these requirements. I also remember an article maybe in Motorcycle consumer News about the silicone trashing water pumps soon after installation of silicone antifreeze. Phosphate free is also good and prestone is also that. Mix with only distilled water. The pre mix is like paying $5 a gallon for water. Mix your own. Empty the tank and drain the cylinders and radiator not to worry about the water pump, not much in there. Google what I am saying or call your dealer. Im right on this. And it goes for all Jap bikes, Freebird, you gotta look up you own Harley info LOL http://www.goldwingfacts.com/forums/2-goldwing-technical-forum/265965-silicate-free-antifreeze.html
  9. http://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d139/usmcxterra/20130807_154305_zpsaaeca047.jpg Ok this is what your brand new leather gloves will look like after a by the directions exactly application. You can rub most of the white of but I'm not sure that it don't compromise the water resistance. Certainly waterproof though. Best on light colors.
  10. http://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d139/usmcxterra/20130807_180103_zpsea6448e4.jpg It came right on time and the truck driver was home! The red tag says remove before flight. ... anyone want the HD one? It says Remove before putting around.
  11. You get what you pay for comes to mind. Remember this was the choice of the gold wingers that went around the world and through 35 countries and at the end they raved about how good they worked. They are extremely flexible. If you don't like the kit price try build your own, call and talk to them to make the right choices. I bought one, I'll be ordering a second. And some 12 dollar helmet kits to set up other helmets as it transfers easily.
  12. Well if the English unit is non adjustable, its out of play and gauges are looking good, read on the net the can be most accurate. Info still bouncing around in my head. I probably should get carb done and wait until after maint. day to decide after I see the magic.
  13. Im looking for what one to buy also. I saw one that said it had all these adapter but ni mention of yamaha. So does the carb tune come with all you would need? Whats the one very similar to the carb tune soms in us? Carb somwthung looks almost the same is on amazon for like 75 bucks.
  14. Im a big fan of full face especially right about the time I'm sliding down the highway doing 60 and my bike is folloqing mw doing 72. Any other timw my carbon fiber half lid is of choice. But in winter its the dull face shoei. Yea anyone steal the idea make it work. But if you need one hit me up.
  15. A set? Meaning TWO? First you need to order A set of EDSETS, This is an adaptor for that. I thought I would GIVE one to first responder who needed one! And had an EDSET or has one on order. So YOUR it? PM me your address. And I'll send it out as soon as a truck driver can, within a week, I have already thought of an improvement, I am going to put an index so that the flat part of the mic slides into the adaptor only one way so it cannot spin. I have to cut out a pattern and then its going to just be getting it mailed. OH and be advised that the EDSETS fit most half helmets, in fact it fit mine, This option just does away with the unit attached to the helmet and the mic and speaker cords hanging down IF as in my case, my helmet has no ROOM inside to store or hide the wires when not using that Mic and speakers. Because EDSETS have the ability to be used with your own ear buds in place of the speakers.
  16. Yea who wears a half helmet now a days anyways. Its still a plus that you can extend that mic like that. Its way too cool. He also said use ear buds when using the speakers, and the mic cord can also tap into a camera so you can narrate a movie or whatever. Pretty flexible system .
  17. EDSETS Solution. So I ordered my EDSETS because one, they owner was in the Military, and two, Quote from their site: "Our 3G headsets were along for the ride on the world's first Worldwide Circumnavigation on a Goldwing, which covered virtually every country on Earth. EdSets were there, and were praised by their owners during and after the trip. Take the Hi-Fi Highway, only with EdSets!" Ok PULL the TRIGGER! BANG I bought the 3G! They arrived quick! Problem, They do not fit my half shell Carbon fiber helmet! MY Fav! So I call Edset Support, after his first cup of coffee. He informed me no one else has this problem. Oh Challenge a Marine to solve something! Presto! The problem was, when mounted I had to deal with the wires for the Mic and speakers when on this helmet I would not be using either. He said you can safely cut them off. (They do not unplug for integrity reasons.) So we talked a bit and I asked if I can extend the RCA mic cord and leave the unit in a tank bag and run the Earbuds up to my ears. YES! But Ill be the first to do this. WHOOOT! Venturerider.org makes HISTORY again! Member solves a problem! First I took an RCA extender as pictured, Radio Shack, they normally come as two but they come out of that holder. http://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d139/usmcxterra/IMG_0455_zps4ad62201.jpg And here on the Property is PAKN Firearms, We make Kydex Holsters, so I took a scrap of Kydex and cut a length off as pictured. Baked it and formed it to the RCA Extender. VERY SECURE, I was thinking our special glue but no way it needs it. But Ill put some on for stability when plugging it in. http://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d139/usmcxterra/IMG_0456_zps82d46723.jpg This was easier than I thought I just pushed the Kydex up under the foam on the helmet and it was VERY Secure. So that was it! http://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d139/usmcxterra/IMG_0459_zpsf9d58789.jpg Now I just use this, put unit in lap or hold to the tank with a Magnet on the rubber part. (Harbor freight 55 LB key ring magnet.) and run the SONY Ear buds up and MAGICALLY I have CB and listening capabilities! BONUS! You can rig this up in seconds for ANY passenger to use a headset with their helmet! ANY helmet! The unit can also be attached on the exterior of the helmet with 3m tape. OR clipped to a chin strap. ( can also make this holder to fit onto a chin strap!) http://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d139/usmcxterra/IMG_0458_zps8f1580cf.jpg BONUS! I'm a MODEL! Anyone needing this adaptor I think I can make em for about $15 Shipped to your Door in USA. I'm going to buy some adaptors soon and make some up and have on hand. Now I can have the wired speakers and mic in my Shoei Full face, And use this option for all my other helmets and passengers. Mike
  18. EDITED my post. I think we are onto something ESPECIALLY if your gear is white anyways! I think I put too heavy a first step on. Try again Edit. Ok this is not something to spray on anything dark. Like stuff bikers wear. It tried it again and same results. So save it for old gear or rain gear. You can make some old gloves wayerproof but don't treat new ones. When they say frost colored thwy mean it. And it feels kinda rubbery. But it does work. I put some on some light colored stuff and you can hardly tell.
  19. Well I agree on the Squirely Bridgestone, I have one of those too and about to take it off and put a Metziler on. I have Run and Loved Avon, But at about 35% of tread worn off, 85% to go they started to crack around the rim like a dry rot, I bought another set and ate it. They did the same thing. So I started calling and e mailing Avon who just gave me the run around until I had to take them off and buy something else. So, No more Avon for me. I saw the Rep at the Motorcycle show and he also ignored my questions on why they cracked so fast and why no new tires sent out. I went to the Darkside. THATS a good tire!
  20. I pulled the trigger on some today and just installed it. I choose some gloves, a Balaclava, Headband, and some other stuff, Its two step process, 1st step is like spray glue, You want to go two light coats not one heavy. This coat compromises breathability and one heavy coat would be no breathability of whatever you spray it on. In some cases who cares. It dries in 30 minutes, two coats 1 hour until 2nd step. Second step is a clear non sticky stuff, sort of like clear lacquer. Soon as it hits the first coat, it turns to a frosty color. Kinda scary I mean they WERE leather gloves, They WERE black. When I went in the house they were frost colored, I am in hope it will dry more clear. UPDATE awoke this morning and anxiously went out to check out my new totaly frosted motorcycle gear! Whoaaaaaaaaaa! I think its waterproof! So I dunked the gloves in the sink, not as good as you see in the video but way better than they were. by rubbing the frosted part (Looks like someone spilled baby powder on them.) you can get it to go back to black. But remember they say it is comprimised MOSTLY by abrasion, So I think that is going against it being waterproof. I basically washed my hands with the gloves on, no water got inside. I did get em to go back to pretty much black. I THINK I may have done too heavy of a coat of step number one. says light coats so Back to another Application and try to get it right. I sent Don a Picture of the finished product He can comment LOL But it looks like it will work as advertised. It says it can be removed by abrasives or a hard blast of water like a power washer. It also says scuffing and abrasion is what wears it off. It Stinks to high heaven, do even think of spraying it around Dons wife. Fume smell big time. FAQ in the box say do not use on electronics. (Funny I saw a submerged phone in the video) Also says do not use it on Venture Wind Screens as you will think you are riding in the snow all the time. Frosty. $20 Home Depot.
  21. I notice that this bike is sort of set up so that one would be inclined to take it to the dealer. Lots of booby traps. Like the Chrome strip on the Fairing, (Breaking Tabs) The hinge on the trunk, (Says break me all over it, the way it ratchets) The idle adjust is pretty well hidden. They tried to hide the Allen bolts on the front of the tank, Nice trick hiding the drain plugs for the cylinders, They really hid the radiator cap! OH! Hows about that little hole plug at the bottom of the lowers! How many people busted their lowers getting them off with that thing? And its not easy to get the center to pull out although I did find the trick. OH Oh OH! Here s a big one, HOW about that fuel filter!~ How the SM should read: 1.Remove Seat, 2.Remove side cover and cut finger on sharp zip tie. 3.Wipe blood on shop rag. 4.Remove center cover, 5.Wipe more blood on shop rag. 6.Remove Radiator recovery tank and , 6a.Wipe blood on shop rag. 7.Look at it funny, try to get it and surrender, think a while as you ..... 7a. Wipe blood on shop rag! (its ok at this point to look at the bike and say "Are you serious? REALLY?" ) 8. Ok the Battery needs to come out! 8a. Remove battery, 8b.Wipe blood on shop rag. 9. Remove battery enclosure. 9a.Wipe blood on shop rag. 10. Remove screw holding hose clamp next to fuel filter, watch for trick nut to fall and get lost. (Why did that nut not get welded on?) 11. Remove fuel pump, 11a. Wipe blood on shop rag..... stick hands into the bowels of the bike in a gynecological sort of way and coax fuel filter up and out. 12. PRY fuel filter out of rubber mount using the sharp end of a test light, Stab yourself and 12a. Wipe MORE blood on shop rag! 13. Install new $16 Yamaha fuel filter making sure Arrow points towards fuel pump as the filter is directional, another Yamaha Booby trap! 13a Wipe blood on shop rag. Reverse procedure to finish up. Im sure I missed a lot, but Just sayin.
  22. Yamaha of Warren is a flagship dealer and carries a gigantic stock, if you call them, and they have them I can run them down to you in mansfield. I live right down the road from Yamaha of Warren, 330 847 7644 Wayne or Paul, both are good Paul is excellent. He knows more off the top of his head than 1000 other parts people can look up. But he;ll look it up anyways. And the store is only about 80 miles from mansfield.
  23. On a bone stock 2008 with E3.36 Spark plugs and real Gas (Realgas.com) Im getting similar to what CW1263 is. The pipes look great and when I pulled the stock plugs they also looked great. I'm glad its getting this mileage as my Roadstar 1700 is a PIG. Im turning it into a spare, cruising bike. More on topic, I either have the V max gearing, or I better stay where I am it it seems to be fine. And I am sure the former is not true, they guy who had the bike never even changed the coolant. So a new rear would have been out of the question. Compared to the 1700 it is missing low end torque, but thats the beast. The PIG is missing neck snapping acceleration. I suppose pulling a trailer the V max set up would be nice.
  24. The Ads are triggered by cookies on your computer,, Ahem, Where YOU been? All I get is Riding gear ads.
  25. Yea how many battery's have been toasted by one of the HF chargers? Guilty here! I went out and bought a new one, Mine was 4 years old when I did this. Just for Sheets and giggles i put it on regular charger, came back a day later and it was full, I used it for a testing battery until my lawnmower battery died two years ago, I used a 2x4 as a shim and installed it in the Cub Cadet, Just mowed the lawn. The battery is STILL good. So dont toss it. Charge it, I now use a cheap Wal Mart float charger, $20 works like a charm. I have some automatic high tech charger and just like he said, sometimes it will fault out and not charge things. The factory battery is best one I ever found.
