  1. Now, that was just so cool. I wasn't born until 1958, but do remember that group and their songs very well. I only wish I could ever sing like that (and so does my wife). Thanks for the post. And I agree. Those were happy, meaningful songs during those days.
  2. Price is probably ok for the condition you relate that it is in. There are a lot of VMaxes out there for sale these days. If you haven't had a VMax, be careful over 115 mph (and you can get there darn quickly). They run like silk up to 100, but much over that and they can get into a death wobble sometimes. Some owners say to address or add these: Steering head bearing adjustment, the "Furbur Fix", replacing the original weak fork brace with a Superbrace, installing frame stiffeners, installing solid motor mounts, wider handlebars, lowering the front end by moving forks up into the triple clamps, etc. all of these offer promise. Haven't added any fixes to mine yet, but probably will do something. Until then, I just won't go up into the triple digits. Love my '98 Max!
  3. Thanks. I remember you posted that photo for me before. My fuel cell looks just like yours (but maybe only 4 gallon) and was in the right saddlebag of the GL1500 that my sidecar was previously attached to when the former owner had it. I don't think it will fit in my right saddlebag.
  4. I had to slip in the axle, then tighten the housing bolts (just like ECK) because my rear end had a creaking noise. The procedure fixed that. If your bike is leaning left, just swap that heavy nitrous bottle from the left saddlebag over to the right saddlebag.
  5. Wrong time for me this time. My father-in-law lives in Robbinsville. Would have been nice to take a trip to visit him and ride a bit with you too. But, he'll be coming here next week end, so my visit up that way will have to wait for a another month or so. Hope you have an eventful and safe ride.
  6. I'll be adding one to mine when I get the sidecar installed. Probably gonna mount it between the bike and the car. Other than that application, don't know what would be the best way to install one just on a bike. Good luck.
  7. Thanks. I haven't had time to work on my bike's rear yet. Just went through the right front caliper and cleaned up the brake pads and have fork seals in hand to install. Been spending a lot of time building a bed for our new 4 year old son we are adopting in the next couple of months. He will be joining our other 4 year old son we adopted three years ago. Gonna be busy around here soon. Gotta get all of my VR's service needs out of the way and get the two person sidecar hooked up to it too.
  8. But it just looks so naked without a cassette player!
  9. Moto-x, of course! Long live Hodaka!
  10. Thanks for the info. Just ordered a Progressive one from Amazon for $35 and change with free shipping. I like the zero loss feature. I used to have a low pressure pump (zero to about ten psi) that came with my 1996 Suzuki Quadrunner four wheeler. Of course, it was not as functional, nor made as well, as these Progressive ones. And I can't find that old pump in my shop anymore.
  11. Sounds good. I know that one. The no loss air connector is really a plus for these low pressure applications. I can use it on the RSV and the VMax. Sadly, I seem to remember this same one offered a few years back for around $37. I thought it was too expensive at the time. Kicking myself for missing the boat on that deal. Thanks.
  12. Teach her to ride and lead her to believe this will be her bike...
  13. Something like that has happened to me a couple times with my VMax. All that caused my problem was the start button stuck when I pushed it in. Engine started. warning lights came on, and the whirring was there from the stuck starter turning. Bopped on the button and it released. All was well after that.
  14. Which pump did you get and how much was it? I need one for myself.
  15. Got the same symptoms you describe after pulling and lubing my MM's driveshaft. Must have damaged the seal putting it back together. You can hope, but I doubt the leak will seal itself. Mine hasn't stopped leaking. Been carefully wiping lube off and thoroughly cleaning my tire for months. Ordering a seal this week.
  16. or...she could take you to your funeral in the sidecar. At least you'd have one last ride.
  17. Thanks y'all. I'm going to see what I may or may not need. Working on the front left caliper tomorrow, so may take a few days to get to the diff.
  18. Sad to hear that about your riding days. But you sure have a cool car there! Oughta get a lot of enjoyment outa that thing.
  19. Wondering why the need for two shims. I see you have a '90 VR, so that should be the same equipment as my '88. What year VMax diff did you use? I don't think there are any rear end (housing) differences over the production run for the 1st gen VMax, but not exactly sure.
  20. A while back, I installed an RSV diff in my 1998 VMax to lower my rpms on the highway. Only had to machine the shock boss on that diff and install the VMax shock stud. All still working out good there. Now, for kicks:whistling:, thinking about putting my VMax diff in my 1988 VR. Just wondering if a driveshaft housing-to-diff shim is required for a swap between these two diffs. I read something previously, but didn't know to which years the shim was necessary and why it is necessary. Now I can't find those posts/threads. Thanks for any assistance.
  21. The title says it's a Harley. But it's actually a VMax (as viewed in another youtube video of the same bike) Way to go V4! Just kick in the VBoost for the high notes. Uh, that would be the drummer screaming for his life then. Ha!
  22. Even funnier had it been an old car with Three-on-the-tree.
  23. Sorry for any confusion. I was just comparing the effort needed to use the center stands on each of my Ventures. My '88 has the original stand, not a Rivco. It's just a little easier to lift that bike onto it's stand than the MM with the Rivco. Taller guys may not have any issue using the Rivco.
  24. I agree. Love mine too. It takes a little more effort to lift the bike while deploying it, and also a little more forceful rock forward to drop back down from than the stock stands do that come on the first gens. But it does what I expected of it. If you have been on the fence considering one, go for it. I don't think you would have any regrets. Rusty
  25. Great that you got it on the road again! Just can't keep a good MM down. $12 for all the info/access/assurance/fellowship/assistance, etc., etc. we share on here is a bargain.
