Cool! I once did 1140 hours on my MM in 19 hours and 45 minutes. Don't do too much long distances anymore. But,I'm about to bust to get to the mountains of NC for a weekend ride now.

Those look cool! I kinda wonder about the exhaust fumes getting into them though.

Maybe now, the (real) Harley guys will have a new model to call "a girls bike" and lay off my Sportster.

I'll be coming up with Joe. Rusty

Yeah. The red one in the background of the first pic is definitely the "horse of a different color".

2nd Gen Cruise Control
Beau-Kat replied to HalLootsinator's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Mine was doing that a few years ago. The connecting bolt in the center of the cruise control diaphragm thing (behind lower left front fairing) was just loose. -
This is insanity !! But I have signed up a slot for a 2nd Gen owner..

I did that on my MM...but, sadly, lost my cargo trailer doing the second backflip. -

Not yet. Sometimes the key won't release from the ignition. It did have the key switch recall a couple of years ago. In the last several months, I've sometimes had to restart the car and cycle from park to drive a time or two to get it to release the key when I switch off the van. I do all of my own car/bike/home maintenance, but don't yet know how to fix this on the cheap. Have had to put up with it cause we have had a lot of other expenses come up this year and haven't had the time or funds to take it in to get it checked. Otherwise, only had to change the rear brake pads and swap out the passenger front door latch. We love the vehicle. -
Weird front flat tire
Beau-Kat replied to Beau-Kat's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Thanks guys. I installed the tire myself and really cleaned the rim and bead area well. That was several months ago. I do not have the balance beads in it. No bubbles during testing. I'm gonna unscrew the valve core and reinstall it. Then I'll put some soapy water at the stem base and try to rotate the entire stem to see if I get bubbles. A couple years ago my Maxim valve core went bad and I changed it ouot. I change a lot of motorcycle tires and keep a variety of valve cores around here. Might just swap that out. -
Went to ride my MM yesterday morning. Dropped it down off the center-stand and it was hard to push back out of its spot in the garage. Discovered a flat front tire. That tire only has about 1k miles on it and I check the pressure often. Never had a problem. Inspected the tire, rim, valve stem and valve core (spit bubble test), and found no issues. Aired it up to 42 psi and it is still holding dead-on today. The bike had not been sitting for extended periods and just leaked over time like one might expect. I ride and tinker around with all my bikes weekly. This was just too weird. Anyone else ever experienced anything like this?

Hadn't really wanted another bike in a long while. But that one makes me want it! Too steenkin cool.

RSV 2006 squeaky rear .....
Beau-Kat replied to Mad Dog's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Yup. My MM's shock only squeaks (grunts/barks) in cold weather. Ride it for less than five minutes and the sound goes away for the day. No leaks yet. -

If anyone has the latest generation of Chrysler minivan, you may well know of the chance that their powered liftgate chains fail. A web search for solutions will only reveal that the chain can't be purchased separately from the power unit. The entire new power unit runs from $190-$400, depending on where you find one. No sense looking for a used one, as that chain will already be weakened just from normal use. I'm cheap and mechanically "obsessed", so I did some research. I only saw the number '25' on the side of the chain links. Not having a lot of chain wisdom, I googled "#25 chain". Turns out, that is a kid's electric scooter chain. Found a place online, ElectricSccoterParts.com , bought 12" of chain, a couple of master links, a 1/2 link, and a 1 & 1/2 link (just in case). Shipped quickly. Pulled out the dremel and cut the pin ends off some links. Removed the bad section of chain (several links had been broken). Installed the new section of chain using the master links and I think I also used the 1/2 link. All this cost less than $19! Now the lifgate works perfectly and my wife likes life again! Dealer repair would have been a few hundred bucks, I guess. My only regret is that the new chain section was beefier than the original Chrysler chain. So, I probably shoulda replaced the entire chain instead of splicing old with new. -
Hey y'all. Joe's gotta come right by my house to get to Georgetown. Let me check my calendar and maybe I can make a day trip when y'all go up. Rusty

What a beauty! That 2007 model was my dream bike for my own retirement gift. Had my eye on one. But, after the kitchen had to be upgraded, I could only afford the '88 Royale. Had to be satisfied with that...amd I guess I am so far. But man-o-man, I wanted that FJR! ENJOY!!!

My wife had wrist surgery yesterday. Everything seems to be going ok for now. I'll be trying to help all I can. For the next week or so, the only things I'll be riding will be the broom and mop around here. On another note, she also has osteoporosis and has given up riding:(. Her VStar 650 will be for sale on here soon:(:(.
