First impression: rode it about 1/4 mile to my house and up the driveway and into my garage. Wowza! What a bike. Super stable low speed handling. Very responsive acceleration. Very low seat height. But really weird looking out over a frame mounted fairing. That will just take some getting used to I am sure. Folks this is a nice bike. Can’t wait to ride the venture later this month. Tomorrow is roughly 12 hours saddle time. More as it comes. Venturefar... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Congrats. $2800 for a excellent condition Gen 2 - good on ya! I am a light weight mechanic but I would recommend you take the time to check the fuel pump “points” for wear and buy the ignition key switch bypass “thingy”. Both as preventative. Enjoy your new scoot. It is gorgeous! Venturefar... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Yes, a few weekends ago we ( Editor and his wife and I) went for a 100 mile bike swap ride. There was a BMW "something", an Aprilla "something" and MotoGuzzi " Something". None were my style of ride but it was fun trying the different bikes in the twisties and the freeway. The only way I could upshift the Aprilla was with the inside edge of my boot sole as I couldn't angle it down enough to get it under the shifter. The most interesting part of the ride was splitting lanes on the way home. Our Venture's are really wide ( as we all know) and it was a fun being on a skinny bike that takes up half as much width. Anyway, will report after Saturday. VentureFar...

As I have happily mentioned earlier my new neighbor is the editor of an online motorcycle magazine. He is giving me the fob to a 2018 Eluder for me to take it for a 500 mile day ride. I am reading 200-350 mile day ride evaluations everywhere but I see a need for a “stretch”. Riders I meet go for short rides with the occasional couple of hundred mile trip. But then they get the motivation to go to Sturgis and they have to ride 500 miles ( or more) per day. Is the bike comfortable and loadable as an occasional road trip bike ??? I will let you know after Saturday. FYI I am planning a loop from Los Angeles to furnace creek in Death Valley. Hey @cowpuc here we go. Next month is the 2018 Venture. VentureFar... seat questions 99
VentureFar replied to B.E. Coyote's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I have done two saddle sore 1000’s on Rick butler mod. Never felt my butt. Rick digs out the tailbone area with precision and then covers with memory foam. Doing it this way the back of the seat actually acts as a mini back rest for me. I am a real fan. VentureFar... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

Hey friends all. I am told my editor Neighbor will have an eluder in a few weeks and Venture in February. My plan is to attempt a saddle sore 1000 on one of them. I hope to be the first to do an “Iron Butt” on gen 3. My route is basically from home in LA to Tucson az and back in a loop. I have done two saddle sore’s but that was exactly 3 years ago when I was exactly 3 years younger and on my amazing gen 2 with a Rick Butler seat mod. For 17-21 hours in the saddle, the saddle is everything! Thanks again Rick! Here’s to hoping Yamaha delivers on their promises... Venturefar... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

Long Beach bike show this weekend - anyone going Saturday?
VentureFar replied to VentureFar's topic in General Tech Talk
Sorry I am too slow to notice this request. I did stop by the Honda booth. Was real busy and not enough patience to wait for my turn. But I did see the wing on the pedestal. No clutch lever! Automatic?? Size looked the same as last year. To me. VentureFar... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
Fuel pump points
VentureFar replied to videoarizona's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Just buy good points and put them on your good fuel pump and then you are good to go. Powersportswarehouse.com 18-4615 k&l supply universal fuel pump points switch kit You might be able to find the same 18-4615 somewhere else cheaper but this is the one that works on Gen 2 that I bought. I have an 07 RSV. When I got it, it felt like I was driving a semi without power steering. Riding a long twisty road was tiring. I bought the leveling links and installed them. Took more time to jack up the rear end than to install them. Very simple to do. Took the bike for ride and the steering was 30-40 percent lighter. I needed a new front tire so I went with the next width narrower. That made the bike handle light and comfortably. Just perfect. Only difference is that in heavy cross winds the wider front tire is more stable and same for hands off riding. The bike tracks straight with no hands better with the wider front tire. But I like the handling ease with the two changes. With the two changes it is like night and day. Venturefar... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Seems some Harley Riders aren't happy either....
VentureFar replied to Kretz's topic in Watering Hole
o I asked last week and he told me he is "in line" for it. If it works out and he givea it to me for a day or whole weekend I plan to ride it like it is meant to be ridden. Far...Venture Far. Do an iron butt or close to it. I promise to keep everyone advised. VentureFar... -

RandyR this low rider is a Dyna wide glide with less front end rake. Classic HD look. Always been my personal favorite look for an HD but would only accept an HD as a gift or inheritance. VentureFar... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
Yamaha fires back on why they didn't use the vmax v4 engine
VentureFar replied to RandyR's topic in Watering Hole
My friend PUC, other parts might be in serious need of overhaul but your memory is still firing on all Gen 1 four cylinders. I am told the Gen 3 will be within reach the end of this month. I cant wait. VentureFar... -

I am not making any promises but a new neighbor moved in and I introduced myself. Turns out he is an editor for a motorcycle magazine ( I won't name unless it happens). He told me that he is getting a 2018 and thought who better to road test the 2018 than a happy owner of a Gen 2. He also talked about outfitting my 07 with a long term test set of tires and some textile clothes. Hey this new friend might have the toys but he'll never hold a candle to my @cowpuc !! I will let everyone know if I get my hands on the 2018 test bike. VentureFar...

Custom Route on Google Maps To Your Phone
VentureFar replied to joeke3el's topic in GPS, Audio, Electronics
When I was in Italy touring I would set my route on google maps at the hotel with wifi then turn off All data functions and I had tracking on the route the whole way. Only problem is going off track it won't reorient but if you are outside coverage then there aren't a lot of road choices to mistake either You can try it now in a coverage area to prove it. Set your route to the market in google maps and turn off all data. VentureFar... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
