  1. I have working on this rotating arm to help with moving motors and bikes that do not run from the floor to my lift and to my work bench ...It is not done yet , but I have done a trial test run . I can pick up a 450 lb bike from the floor to the lift and rotate the load with one hand ..There a lot more to do to get it where I would call it ready for the job .

  2. But it's not easy when you only have yourself to deal with. There just seemed to be no opposition and nobody even offered an opinion. I even took a nap to see if the feelings would go away, grabbed a coffee, had a cookie, checked the news and the feelings was still there. Even paid some overdue bills and that didn't help one bit. Maybe if I wait a bit more, maybe 12 months or 52 weeks, maybe even 365 days then I won't have this feeling anymore, but I got a feeling that it will reoccur again. You see, it happens every year on this date lately and it's all due to FaceBook, so not really all my fault,, it's their fault. I just have to do this in order to get past this feeling, sooooooooooo HAPPY BIRTHDAY FREEBIRD!!

  3. Just see what happens. If you heat and dunk it you could make the metal too brittle if its high in carbon such as cast steel, if you dunk it too soon and too soft if you let it cool naturally. It all depends on the steel. If you where to heat it (and this is just an educated guess ) I would be inclined to let it cool naturally about 50% than dunk it in water or oil.

  4. Looks like the wear is in the frame eye. OPTION 1; It there is plenty of meat drill out both frame bracket and kick stand to accept a larger diameter bolt. OPTION 2; As long as there is enough meat and only the frame bracket is worn, slowly drill it out until you end up with a round hole or close to round hole and fit the hole with a steel bushing that has an inner hole same as bolt size. Try to get a snug fit but a sliding fit as long as there is no play is fine. Coat both hole and outside of bushing with Loctite's green sleeve and bearing set. Wait a few minutes, wipe away any excess and reassemble. BTW green Loctite will fill a void up to 0.020" securely.

  5. Well, let's be honest. Not everything is going smoothly........... Today in the paint booth we encountered some bad 'crackle' problems with the paint on a fender. Sanding, two thin coats of primer, three thin coats of paint (and 3,5 hours) later the fender was ready for the clear coat. Overall, it was a long and productive day with great results. Clear coat finishes it all!

  6. I intend to setup the rotating arm and my bike lift , so that the rotating arm can lift a bike off the deck of the lift and another bike can drive up ., just in case of a emergency repair needed of another bike ..I do have 3 older Yamaha bikes that need to be on the road . I plan on retiring when I hit 80 years which gives me 5 years to go.... I do get calls from other bikers in need of repair ....

  7. It would appear to me that the hole that the bolt is going thru is oblong now. I would take off the kickstand and give it a good exam and see what isnt right with the assemble and then that will let you know how to go about fixing it properly. Hope that helps. Rick F.

  8. Having the right tools and equipment is the key. It is like having another pair of strong hands to tackle the heavy stuff.

  9. Do it! Bring this motorcycle back to life and ride the wheels off! You will spend time and money, but if you want a solid, affordable, comfortable road bike that will eat the miles in sun, wind, rain? This is it! Rebuild the brakes/clutch master cylinders, new braided lines, rebuild and sync carbs, check fuel tank and replace filter and lines, new tires, rebuild forks, change all fluids, go through all electrical connections and look for corrosion. About a grand (2 plus if you hire the work out) and a few months later you will have a superb road bike that can roll with anything out there.

  10. A little up date on my condition. I did continue to take 20mg of rosuvastatin. The Dr prescribed 40mg. The vitamin K2 still seems to be working as I can be much more active without feeling angina. However, I just had my annual blood test performed. My cholesterol is 108. Supposedly the normal range starts at 120. So, I think 10mg daily may be best. Another interesting thing on my blood test is that my red blood cell count is too low along with hemoglobin. I checked last years results and it was at the low end of the scale. Never been low before. A little research revealed that the covid shots will reduce the red blood cell count. I took both of the first Pfizer shots a month or more before last years lab test and I had the booster last November. A little more research revealed that Vitamin B12 increases red blood cells so I started taking that today. No more booster shots for me. If you don't know a low red blood cell count will sap your energy and an old fart like me needs all the energy I can get! Ha!

  13. Sorry I haven’t posted lately. Got the regulator/rectify on and it’s charging great. I took about a 200 mile trip to Natchez this weekend. The bike runs fantastic. I might try and sell it. Here’s a few shots for you.
