OrlinEngh Posted 4 hours ago #1 Posted 4 hours ago 1999 Honda Valkyrie Interstate. I sat on one 26 years ago and would think on getting one. Now there is one sharing room with the Ventures. And I don't think they care for it much. A friend of mine had this one and it had gotten to be a topic of when he was going to get it back together again after taking it all apart to fix a few things and just give it a good going over. He has been slowly losing his zest for working on cycles and for riding also. as it seems has been happening to a lot of us. We were out for breakfast, and he was telling me that he had decided that I needed to bring a trailer and pickup my Valkyrie and get it out of his garage that he wanted some more room. I asked him how much and he said its yours to take and bring it back to its glory. So, after breakfast I went home got the trailer and tools and after around 4 hours was able to get it on the trailer. I had a few days off from work, so I got busy on it. Changed all of the fluids greased and cleaned and tuned and got to take it out for a ride. And it purrs like a kitten. We went to a get together in town for collectors and antique cycles and got a lot of looks and compliments on it. And he said that he was happy to see what all I had done with it and couldn't believe how it turned out. I tried to give the key to him and said its yours take it home with you. He said no that's why you got it. Have to say that it felt good that he was so happy to see it like that. But it hit me that one of my oldest ridding friends has decided that his time for ridding is done. I did tell him it won't ever be sold it will be handed down to the next one that has that gleam in his eye for a cool old cycle. And that it's going to be a while before that happens because it is way too much fun to ride. Not as comfortable as the Venture but I think I can get it close. Orlin
DonnyRudeDude Posted 3 hours ago #3 Posted 3 hours ago That’s a great story and what a great friend. I have a 1999 interstate as well and is my go to bike for longer trip, but as you pointed out, the Ventures are still more comfortable to ride and take some maintenance to keep them on the road. I also get a lot of compliments on this bike. I hope you enjoy it. Mark
