Then moved up to an XL500 which I rode mostly on the street, then a CB750 supersport for the street, and a Yammy TT500 for the dirt. The list goes on. I joined the navy in 1975 and dad sold it. Got stationed in Hawaii in 1979 and bought a KZ400 to get around until the car arrived. Sold it in 1981. longrider805 Posted February 18, 2012 Share #66 Posted February 18, 2012 Cushman Eagle at 14 (1969), didn't want it but I broke the frame jumping a berm that was in the middle of a pasture for no apparent reason. Just so happens that the Cushman belonged to my brother and he made me pay him for it. I think the engine wound up on a homemade generator or something. Spent as much time off as on the road though.. 75 Suzuki TS400 two-stroke single cylinder. Built a Briggs and Stratton powered mini-bike when I was 15. Killed it when I was 16. First new bike was a CB750 when I was 22 and in the Army. I was just a tad short on the cash and my dad loaned me $800. At that time I was making $425 a month as a lowly corporal. I promptly paid him off in 2 months living on $25 each month thanks to the barracks and chow hall. After that I took 33 days worth of leave, threw all the camping gear the bike would hold, and my 12 yr old brother on the back, (mom about had a coronary over that one) and rode 6600 miles around the country! One of the roomies got a Honda super 90 for Christmas,that bike was cool rode it then went to South America for a while and rode a friends DKW a German 200cc 2 stroke.Very nice comfortable bike.
