HID Head Light - Help!

:soapbox:From a thread here I purchased the HID head light kit from a manufacturer in Canada. This was a plug and play easy install. Before I putit all back together I tried and it worked as promised. Then testing again and all was fine. When secured all wiring I tested again and nothing. I hear the igniter but no light. I checked all wiring and all tested fine. Tested again a nothing. No ignitor buzz or light. So I took it all off.

Any clues, suggestion other than returning it.

Thanks:confused24:

Same has happened to me. It worked for a month or so, but sometimes doesn't. It seems to go off when I hit the starter button. Now, it won't work at all.

I am trading emails with Scott at the Canadian place. Will let you know what happens.

As of this point, the only suggestion is to change the fuse from 10A to 30A. However, the 10A fuse is OK and I am getting 12V passing thru the relay to the ballast/igniter. A fuse is a current limiting device, not a current regulating device. Tried the 30A fuse anyway and it still didn't work. Waiting for a reply.

Does the stock bulb still work on the bike?

Did you unplug and replug all connections to be sure they are tight?

Are you sure that you have a good ground for the controller?

Did you keep the bulb clean and free of fingerprints and/or oil, dirt?

That is what I can think of off the top of my head.

Yes. I just plug it back into the original harness.

Sure did.

Ground goes directly back to the battery.

Did you keep the bulb clean and free of fingerprints and/or oil, dirt?

Yup, just like any headlight

I'm kind of stumped.

Use a volt meter check to see if you have power after the ballast if not I would suggest that may be your problem. Mine did the same thing, Scot sent me a new one and it has worked ever since.

Shuts off once in a while but turn key off and back on and it works fine.

The Hi/Low Switch in the left Handle Bar is causing a Voltage Drop. That's common Scenario and the Ballast doesn't get enough Voltage to start the Bulb. Check and clean the Switch Contacts, or better just use the stock wiring for operating the Hi/Low Portion of the Bulb and rewire the Balast direct to the Battery.
