Just wondering if there are any members in the Fort Bragg/Fayetteville NC area.

Wow. They have been around for a long time. Great company.

I just learned Sierra is closing down. They have some pretty good close out pricing right now, I just ordered some extra headsets to have on hand.

Good morning riders! We attended my daughter's Christmas Chorus at school last night and it was a good turnout. It lasted for about an hour and 30 minutes of fun Xmas drama and singing. It rained last night and that is a good sign and hopefully most of the salt has washed away. Frigid and windy for the next 2 days. Also had the day off yesterday so that was a good feeling. I hope to get some XMas shopping done this weekend, but we'll see. Enjoy your day.

Good morning to all! Hopefully you are having a great Wednesday. I can't believe I have not done anything in terms of Christmas shopping for my family. I am hoping to do most of it this coming weekend as long as I don't get called in to work. 31°F and a small chance of winter weather precipitation. Nothing significant, but no riding over the next few days.

BlueSky started following Set of Carb Intake Boots
-
Those early Royal Stars have smaller carbs and less horsepower that the later models I'm pretty sure.
-
I bought this set of 4 intake boots off an eBay seller earlier this year (Chinese knock-offs). . They are supposed to fit 1999 - 2004 Yamaha XVZ1300 Royal Star. But they are a slightly smaller size than the boots on my 2001 RSV. Below are some pics. I am thinking these may fit the 1200 but do not know for sure. I put the dimensions below each pic. If you want the set, you pay the shipping, you can have them. PM me if you want them and include your address so I can figure out the shipping from 39110. I'll update here once they are taken. PM Studs center-to-center appx. 59mm Carb side OD appx 45mm Carb side ID appx 31mm

Good morning to all! Another brand new week ahead of us, but I am not looking forward to the frigid air that is coming our way. We've had some small snow events and each did not account for any snow blow or shoveling. PennDOT did apply salt on the road. No riding for now. Have a great week.

I do miss deer camp. There were 21 of us that spent 2-3 weeks at our 1866 farmhouse that we called 21 Club or the Luther Hilton. We all hunted our 1600 acre lease that consisted of swamp, farm fields and rolling hardwood forest. When I first joined the camp the deer were thick as flies on cow shit! You could count on there being a nice snow cover on the ground, being in the woods or swamp was beautiful. At least half the guys would have a buck hanging by dusk opening day. As the years went by the deer numbers fell and the oldtimers began passing, it was sad to lose so many that were like family. After 40 years leasing the property (we owned the house) the land owners put the property up for sale, it sold to 6 different owners that had much deeper pockets than we had. It was a sad day. I withdrew from the club when i was forced to hunt surrounding public land.

Up until my 30s we used to butcher them ourselves. I remember one year we had 12 of them hanging in a canopy my dad built for a motorhome. Motorhome was gone but the canopy came in handy. Dad would freeze much of the meat then take it to the machine shop at the mill and slice it with the bandsaw...lol....I'm pretty sure he took sanitary precautions.....Maybe not...lol

I remember hunting here in west Ky as a youngster when we were only allowed one buck tag and no does. If you saw a buck it was a successful season. Now we’re covered up in deer, we don’t mess with deer camp. I can step out the door most any day and get one or more. Last year fresh out of back surgery I shot two from the back patio, used the SXS to load em and took them to a processor. I usually process my own but another major surgery has me sidelined again so I doubt I even bother this year.

When I was a kid there wasn't a deer camp. You go up to the farmer and ask if you could shoot a deer. Most of the time he'd say don't shoot my cows but kill all the damn deer. Today you gotta pay to hunt anywhere around me. Any public hunting is 3 - 4 hours away and it's packed with nut jobs. Had a friend who would call me towards the end of the season here because he had a culling permit on his ranch. He would basically sell off the 'buck' permits for 1,000 each. He had 4500 acres. But I hunt for food not trophies. I'd be able to get 3 - 4 does and he wouldn't charge me for closing out his tags. I would give some meat to him and the ranch manager and put the rest in the freezer. I'd also clear out 8 - 10 hogs, gave most of that to some of the locals who needed the meat more. Dear here in SE Texas are small compared to what I got in Ohio. If you get a buck around here that dresses at 90 lbs that's good. I've given up on deer hunting here. #1 I can't afford the leases, #2 the desire to go seems gone and #3 I feel like if I wanted to go on public I'd have to camp most of the year so I could scout and then hunt. I don't have that kind of time.

I used to be an avid hunter. Always took vacation opening week. Haven’t hunted in 30 years. I miss the social aspect of being at the deer camp more than the actual hunting but do miss the venison too.

My 49th year of enjoying the tradition of Buck Season at the Headhunter Camp. I haven't hunted for 20 years or more but still enjoy hunting season at the cabin. The old timers that were regulars have been passing away and the numbers of hunters at our cabin is dwindling, but I figure the tradition survives until the last of us are gone. The unquestionable wisdom of the PA Game Commission has decimated the deer herd, at least in the area of our cabin. We're now as likely to see elk as deer. When I was young, there were deer EVERYWHERE. You didn't always make it to your stand before getting your deer. Not so much anymore. It's been a few years since anyone's gotten a buck on first day. As for me, I enjoy taking a walk into the woods on first day and check out my old spots. I did a little over 5 miles in the woods, walking slowly and never saw so much as a tail. I only heard 2 shots off in the distance. We used to have a 90% success rate first day....Wow, how things have changed. Anyhoo, we all still had a great time, but I fear I won't be the only one who won't be hunting there next year. Doesn't matter, the tradition still lives. If it was only about harvesting a buck we'd all hunt in Ohio. Heck, I have them running around my backyard all the time. I still look forward to buck season every year.

No not in the neighborhood, but I do have one at work, I am planning on taking my 2 year old Mini Aussie and the new Toy Aussie to work on Thursday, will see how that goes. My mini does have a red herding ball that he will chase around the yard until he just about drops.
-
That’s a cute pup, what I am wondering though, since he is a herding dog, if you have some Australians in the neighborhood that need to be herded?
-
what a little cutie! any idea on a name yet???

Rusty Gas Tank, but not THAT bad.
cimmer replied to Chaharly's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Looks good to me also. What I do is make sure I add Seafoam to the tank and then fill it up fully and then running it a bit before parking it for the winter. I dont seem to have any issue and it starts right up for me in the spring. Least with a full tank there is no room for rust to form. Rick F. -
We went and picked up our new 8 week old toy Australian Shepard today, she weighs all of 1.9 pounds.

Good morning Venture friends. It's a nice calm 34 degrees this morning in Hopkinsville KY. I see that our friends north of Indianapolis are having some serious weather situations. I pray everyone is safe during this winter season.

Good morning to all! Got called in again to work all weekend long. I was ok with it since I could not ride anyway due to weather conditions in our area. At any rate, temps has been too cold to deal with on two wheels but we just have to be patient and wait. Have a blessed day.
