  2. Hey guys, just got a 2018 SVTC and wanted to see if there were any map/software updates. Seems like a lot of the manuals and guides point to old info. I did find the guide to check for updates with the Yamaha Toolbox software and so I followed the process of fingerprinting and took it back to my computer and it said there was an update and it downloaded about 350MB of stuff to my USB drive. Went back to my bike and it then enabled Map Upgrade and Software Update buttons. When i pressed on Software Update, it doesn't do anything. I then selected Map Upgrade and it did go through saying it was installing a Map Upgrade (slowly went from 0-100%) but every time I go back in to that screen, both of those options are still available. I did the Map Upgrade like 2-3 times thinking maybe it needed to do them in sequence, but it still keeps those options and apparently will let me install the Map Upgrade over and over, but the Software update does nothing. The funny thing is it didn't change my Map ID or anything else I can see. I have Software version R12.2.0. Does anyone know if this is the latest?

  4. I just got a 2018 SVTC and the extremely quick shift and governor is really annoying. Looking forward to getting the Ivan tune. I assume there is no issue with that and a K&N filter. I suppose he does a standard tune and doesn't customize anything for mods you may have on bike? I haven't looked into drilling the pipes. Does that change the performance or just increase sound?
  5. Well I'm definitely late to the party but I just got a Grey 2018 SVTC JA000032. I have the lowest number on this board I think LOL.

  7. Looks like the weatherman is cooperating with us pretty well. We’ll have to dodge some areas with last week’s storm damage. Wife n I went out yesterday and spent half a day clearing a road of storm debris so we can ride it.
  8. Another year I will miss, Grandchildren not out of school until June 7th. Thought I had it set up but plans fell apart. You All have Fun, Later-

  10. I just got a 2018 Star Venture TC and wondering where I can find a service manual.
  11. Thanks! As I said, we're not quite at that stage yet; but once the Road Star is sold, we'll be moving the bikes into the shop and getting a better picture of the situation.
  12. We would need to what kind of kit it is first of all, but seeing as all 86 to 91 frames are the same, it should fit with the same ,if any, modifications.
  13. OHHH darn,, I thought you were supposed to pick them up, Ohoh now I could be in trouble!

  15. Gee Carl don,t tell me you went walking by yourself again? Ever think of dropping cookie crumbs whenever you leave the house?
  16. ABS plumbing pipe dissolved in acetone makes a very good “putty” to form and glue fairing pieces.
  17. The fairing is made of ABS plastic, you may want to try some ABS glue.
  18. 04 venture, i broke the windshield and one "screw tower" on the front half of the fairing. The "screw tower" holds the right side of the windshield chrome trim piece. I think 2 part epoxy will do the trick unless there is a better fix?
  19. Our weather has been a little unsettled for a few days, but today is a nice day in the upper 60s. At least today I hope to get to ride to and from work. Be safe out there.
  20. My RSV rear brake quit working and the problem was the diaphragm in the master cylinder had fallen to the bottom and was blocking fluid flow!!!!!
  21. Hello, all. Within the next month or two, hopefully, my dad and I will be putting together for me an 88 1300 he has amongst his Ventures. He also has an 83 or 84 that has a trike attachment on it. Does anyone know offhand if that attachment will work on an 88 frame, or if it would require modifications, or just not work at all? Thanks, Ethan
  22. Agreed but the speed bleeders work on what ever system you install them, you can even use them on hydraulic clutches, they work very well and all with out the help of another person.
