Trust me...I'll now check the relay cables, which I hadn't thought of....but makes sense since that's where the "click" is coming from.....but, pessimist that I am.....if it DOES turn out to be the switch, is there any way these things can be "tuned up"? Like given a good bath in contact cleaner and/or lubricated with something and makes them "glide like new".....but doesn't SHORT everything out? I think I've seen lots of reports from guys who've REPLACED them....but was that because "money was no object" and it was the easier route to go? Or because it was the ONLY thing that would work because the old ones become JUNK?
-
TWO EXCELLENT IDEAS I'd not likely have thought of.....especially that SECOND KEY thingy.....which I DO believe I have had sitting in a "key box" by the front door for about 20 years!! LOL I'll try both of these, thanks, bud.

I had a bad battery in my Kawasaki that checked full voltage but would not supply a load. I finally removed it and took it to an Autozone for load testing and it failed miserably. A new battery fixed er up. On my 07 Venture, I was having problems getting the key to turn and I switched to the other key that looked like it had never been used and it worked just fine??????

Check battery cables and cables on the start relay. But probably the switch.

Very nice. You will love the Wing.

Congratulations on the new ride. No shame in going to a trike. It added years to my riding i would not have had. I had my Venture converted with Hannigan. R Dawson is enjoying it now.

Yes, it's still kinda early in the riding season (not really, I know, but I have a garden, too! LOL) so it's only now that I'm running into this issue after about 5 rides in: My ignition switch (on the '03 Midnight) has been a little feisty for a couple of years now...meaning when I just try to turn it to on from off, it tends to "run into a roadblock" so I've been depressing it slightly while turning...and, Bob's your uncle. No problem starting, ever. Yesterday, however, after turning the bike off to speak to someone in a parking lot, when I went to restart, the "dash" lights came on, just like normal, but when I hit the start button, I heard a single, distinct CLICK that sounded as though it came from under the seat/(battery shelf location). The guy I was talking to was actually a friendly parking security guy and he immediately turned to his vehicle and popped out one of those portable jumper devices. He said he'd heard the click, too, and proudly announced, "Your battery's dead!" I said, "I don't think so; maybe loose, but not dead; it's been starting and running like a champ for a couple of weeks." Nonetheless, between his attaching his wonder-device, and my "fooling with" both the ignition switch AND the kill switch.....after a couple of different combinations and flicking back and forth of BOTH of these items, it finally did start. I drove home and parked outside my closed garage. When I went to start it and bring it inside for the night......NO JOY. Couldn't even get lights on. This morning....went out...turned the key, lights on, hit the start button.......CLICK. DEAD. No amount of turning or fiddling could get .......oh, wait a minute...yes, after I go to the trouble of digging out the multi-meter and the charger....(battery shows 12.3, so it's not her).......suddenly, after coaxing through the Acc position to On, I finally see lights.....hit the Start button and.........CLICK. All dead again. So, IS there a fast, inexpensive solution for that ignition switch? (Which I'm 90% thinking is the cause....unless you guys have "less expensive" opinions, which I'm ALWAYS willing to try! Thanks, as always.

Hello Venture friends. I have finally gotten to the point that I am not comfortable on the Venture any longer. The last few times I have ridden it, I had trouble getting my feet down quickly, so I started putting them down 20 to 30 feet before I got to my stopping point. This worked but made me very uncomfortable. I got to looking at other options and decided a Wing Trike was the way to go. I found a beautiful 2013 with a Champion conversion that I fell in love with. It's low miles and in excellent shape. The owner on had 3 of the same color so it wasn't hard to talk him into parting with it. I only have a couple of pics so far. I plan on cleaning the Venture up good and putting it up for sale. I absolutely loved riding a Venture, having ridden in every one of the lower 48, but it's time to say goodbye. I will still be around checking on everyone. Steve

Good morning to all! I’ve been riding to and from work since last week and over the weekend. Will cut grass this afternoon before all the rain comes in by tomorrow. Have a great day.

Sounds like fun. Weather permitting I hope to be at NSA Joe’s memorial ride.

One of my oldest friends and I will be riding up to the cabin in North Central PA on Thursday the 18th. We'll be doing some short rides around the area, hanging out at the cabin around the campfire , maybe enjoying an adult beverage and even a cigar....shooting the breeze for a couple of days. Should be relaxing and low key. Will be heading back to Youngstown OH Saturday or, more likely, Sunday. I was thinking that this may be an opportunity to invite some VR friends to stop by, maybe do a ride, even stay the night if they wish. There's a total of 12 bunks, one couch and two recliners. Cabin has a kitchen and a bath with a shower, serious business is done in an outhouse designed and built to be odor free. I know a HVAC guy (me) who built it. When I retire (beginning of next year) I'm hoping I'll have time and Lisa and I would like to arrange some low key get togethers at the cabin. This could be a good trial run for that, but I'm thinking for the time being, guys only.. You know....He man woman haters' club. lol... If anyone wants to swing by lemme know.

Found parts; ordered used replacement. Still have to order o-rings and crush washers. Have heard that it is possible to remove without removing carbs; I hate to mess with the carb boots as I'm afraid they might be brittle and/or crack (106,000 miles) and lead to bigger more gnarly things. Also wondering if I placed new seals on water pump shaft properly... Replacing radiator, fan, possibly thermostat next week to prep for long trip Juneteenth; would like to check pump and Twinkie at the same time (I think pump will be easier with radiator out). I have to stop this oil in coolant thing before it causes anything more. Any advice is greatly appreciated; anyone in the Tampa area who might have knowledge and be willing to help would also be appreciated.
