  1. Hey folks, I'm the Safety Manager here where I work. We are a foundry, and I buy Kevlar coats and chaps for the guys to prevent burns. The supplier sent us some chaps that were too long so I had to cut a foot off of them to make them fit. I was thinking that this material would work great for someone to make a pair of draggin' jeans if they were skilled with a sewing machine. The material is Carbon/Kevlar and is 12"x26". Should be enough to cover the seat and knees of a pair of jeans. If you want it, I'll be happy to send it to you free of charge. Figured it beats throwing it away. 2. Can someone tell me what size the speakers are? I came across a pair of 61/2 Kenwoods. Thanks Bikerjohn
  3. Awesome display of riding talent, [ame=http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=99KKx7cB-Ok]http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=99KKx7cB-Ok, [/ame] after watching that one check out the pair riding side by side [ame=http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=Csf3OmGD8UE&feature=related]YouTube - Police Motorcycle Competiton Partner Run[/ame]
  4. Hey guys sorry I havent been here in a while summer has been very busy. Anyway I have started working for a company that does CNC routing and laser etching along with vinyl cutter for vehicle graphics and signs. We stated doing some wind deflectors (since I needed a new pair as one was cracked) and the owner has a Gold Wing. They are 3/16ths acrylic which is nice since they are a little heavier than the stock ones. I included some pics of the orange set I put on mine and also a few different colors red, blue, yellow and also we have black, dark red, light blue along with clear (which you can have back painted to match your bike exactly). They are 6 by 7 and 3/4 which is the size of my originals and bent exactly like the original set. The holes are not drilled so you can drill them to fit your own hardware. They will be $25 a pair plus shipping. I am putting this in the classifieds as well but I wanted you guys to check them out cause I thought everyone would get a chance to see them here. We can also customize them like I did with mine for an addidtional fee. But check them out and let me know what you think. Paul

    Cucciolo ?

Hi, Here is a history question for you. Has anyone ever seen or owned one of these ? Cucciolo a small engine, developed by Ducati during and shortly after WWII, that could be mounted on a bicycle [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jN4BA4JPSkc]YouTube - Cucciolo Vilar[/ame]. Apparently there were two versions, the earlier T50 with exposed valve gear and M55 with the valves enclosed with little caps. I suspect my interest is with the earlier version but am interested to know about either. My dad, now 86, waxes poetic about his post war days traveling around the english country side with my late mum aboard a pair of Cuciolo powered bicycles. They had to sell them in order to afford to immigrate in the early fifties. Whenever I talk about motorcycles, I hear about these bikes and these happy days of his. I'd like to know, how rare / common are they these days ? Thanks, Brian H. Uxbridge Ont.
  6. I have googled, ebayed, and advertised everywhere I can think of and am almost ready to give up and buy some after market bags. What I am after is a set of the black leather soft bags that came on the 1998,1999,2000 Tour Classic (sloped flap opening). I want to install on my Road Star. Anyone with any Ideas or with a pair sitting in the garage please PM or email me or simply post your guidance. Yes I checked Yamaha OEM. Thanks
  7. I'm wondering if anyone could help. New member as of last week and not really computer savy. I need to buy a pair of clear glasses for riding home later than we should. We always seem to ride too late and my eyesight isn't the best, when it's dusk. I would like a pair that the wind can't get through the sides. Appreciate any input, otherwise I'm going to have to start riding with the hubby and I'd just as soon keep driving my own bike. Thanks!
  8. will today i start, will end in kitchener,my route is ????,looks like 90 degs most of the way, voyager is packed, gold bond,is on standby, wife credit card is punched, yard is mowed,cb on 29,new pair of riding pants, will check, back in about an hour, make sure i didn't forget anything
  9. My wife gave me a pair of battery powered heated gloves for Christmas. I had my eye on a pair of Gerbing battery powered gloves for $199 but thought they were a bit expensive so I didn't put them on my list. So I was surprised to open up a pair from Hammacher Schlemmer. I was really skeptical when I heard they were only $25. I went for about a 15 mile ride this evening after dark with temperatures in the mid to upper 30's and I must report that my hands and fingers were quite toasty. They have a battery pack on the back of each one that holds 4 AA batteries and they are supposed to work for 6 hours on high or 8 hours on low. For insulation they use 40g Thinsulate. Even with the power off they are quite warm. I don't know how long they'll last but I think they were worth $25. Here's the link.. http://www.hammacher.com/publish/73123.asp DT
  10. Bought mirrors from Drag Specialties that are sold for H.D. fairings called Pork Chop # 0640-0191. They will mount using the screw above the speakers and drilling another hole using a bolt and nut. A pair list for $90.
  11. Now that I have my Joe Rocket Phoenix 4.0 jacket, I need to get a pair of hot weather pants. Any body have any suggestions? By the way--Why do they call them a "PAIR" of pants and you only get one???
  12. Its not often that a complete stranger will walk up and ask about a mans eyewear. I was in O'Rileys Auto Parts buying a filter wrench for the thimble-sized oil filter that these Ventures use. I had just gotten off the bike, and walked in wearing these PanOptx prescription sunglass/goggles that I bought last year in Sturgis. At the counter, this fella said, hey, what kinda shades are those? I told him they are PanOptx, and he said, oh...did you get those in Lubbock? (large town 45 miles away) I chuckled and said no, I got them in Sturgis, South Dakota, and I got a few snorts from the employees and a few customers....guess it seemed kinda exotic to these homies. Anyway, he said they looked really cool, and I told him PanOptx was on the internet. I have worn prescription glasses for a very long time, and those of us who do, sometimes have problems finding something suitable for wearing on a motorcycle during daylight hours. Now, most everyone on this website is riding a bike with a windshield, so this may or may not be relevant. But my prescription has always been difficult for the opticians to fit in a nice frame, something that looks good, but also works well. I was referred to the Eye Lenses booth at Thunderdome last year, by a good freind, and on a lark, I walked up and looked at what they had. Sure, all the cool looking riding glasses that I can never wear. But this fella walked up and asked if he could help...I said nah, nothing here will work with my prescription...I already know that. He looked at my glasses and said, I bet WE can fix you up. I told him, stubbornly, nope...been there, done that. He said, if we can do it, will you buy a pair? I said, yeah, but KNOWING I wont be dragging out the credit card today. Well he asked for my glasses, put them in the cradle of a fancy machine...took a few readings, punched a few buttons, and said..matter of factly, yep...we can make a pair for ya...but it needs to be one of about 4 frames that will work...here ya go...hows this one look to ya? Well, he was showing me a nice pair of black PanOptx sunglasses, that had a nice little plastic/foam insert to make them work as goggles for bikes. I said no way...I can NEVER wear something this nice...my lenses will never fit...he said..oh yeah. he can do it. Right. 40 years of knowledge about my lenses doubted...but ok...he showed my the lens blanks, and asked me a few questions about tinting and such, then asked if I wanted to try the frames on. Sure. Damn...they looked good. Well he quoted me a very reasonable price, and said to be back in two hours. Time went pretty slowly that afternoon...but when I made it back to the booth, there they were...MY NEW SHADES! No big deal if you dont wear prescriptions lenses like mine, but wow...this was cool! I still didnt beleive it. But I put them on, and HOLY ****!!! I can see!! All of my other prescription sunglasses have always been...well...ugly...Im either stuck with a big fat ugly plastic frame, or flimsy metal frames that are OK for driving the car, but terrible on the bike. This guy was like the Guru of Sunglasses! He DID it!! He made me pair that looked good AND worked good! And I have been wearing them on my bikes ever since. I just take them for granted now, but when I got that compliment, it reminded me of how this came about. If anyone finds themselves wanting a nice pair of sunglasses that work with difficult lense prescriptions, try these guys: http://www.eyelenses4u.com The brand and frame I got were the PanOptx Sirocco frames. PanOptx, I found out, has changed the name...but I'm sure the quality is just as good. http://www.panoptx.com/ If you stayed with me and read this far, you probably have the same problem I've had. Dont give up...good stuff IS out there for us '4 eyes'!
  13. Sunday the wife went to the new ranch supply store and we signed up for the door prise and they pulled my name I won a new pair of Whites Boots $349.00 now I got the job of breaking the things in. I needed some boots
  14. Well, having ordered a set of 491s from Cycle Gear and waiting 3 weeks with no show, I decided it was time to try something else. Shoping the tire stores around here, most only carried the Metzlers in the sizes I need. Most of the dealers really push the Metz and praise them to the max. Just about fell for the sales deal, but went back and reviewed all the comments about the 880s and thought better of it. Checked around for the Michelins with no luck until I called my buddy at Southvalley Motorsports, and sure enough old Jay came through again. A brand new pair of Commanders with my name on'em. The reviews are great on the Commanders, but I haven't read about anybody running them on a 1st Gen. Anyone ride them? What do you think? I'll be trying to wear some out soon. Thanks DJ :mo money:
