  1. I have filled it with fresh gas and a good dose of Techron, and once the garage is clear of the fumes (overfilled it with attendant spill ) I'll run it a bit to get that mix into the carbs. I'm trying to avoid ripping the bleepin carbs off again. Considering the effort it took to get the carbs off- involving prying with a 1x4, I'm hoping there is no leak 'tween carbs and manifold. Spraying with ether can be done later if this doesn't work. Edit: it runs now but I doubt it'll pull enough to get rolling. I'm afraid to take it out myself lest I drop it again. I'll have this customer guy take it out if it improves some. Assuming he'll put some cash in my hand first lest he bend it.
  2. Yeah I've been wondering about fuel. It only has about a quarter tank in it. The fuel filter BTW is brand new. And I pulled the plugs and cleaned them. They were wet, but they too are new. Maybe 250 miles on them. I didn't really intend to store it as is. I'm in Arizona- riding weather 362 days a year. But I'm 60 yo and 5'7 and this bike is just too tall and heavy. I dropped it twice and couldn't pick it up again. So I parked it and listed it on Craigslist. Wrong time of year- so it sat. I'm gunshy about takin it out again.
  3. I've had my Venture for sale (a '91). Its been sitting in the garage for 3 months or so. I tried to run it last week and it was terrible (it was running fine b4 that). Wouldn't run without the choke or even hardly idle at all. Wouldn't accept any throttle either. And black smoke too. The diaphragms looked kinda poorly so I've now replaced with new. Well, that helped but its still not where it should be. I've been thru the carbs several times, synced em, all that- months ago. And I've been wrenching on Japanese fours for 40 years now. Not to say I know it all, but I've seen my share and then some. But I'm stumped here. I don't know what could be the problem. And I've got a guy wants to buy it if I can get it running good. Oh- its had techron in the gas. While its been sitting too.
  4. The part you are after is the SD-1 (4 of them) and your price is $79.99 USD for the parts and $13.75 for shipping, grand total of $93.74. You can send the funds via PayPal to paypal@siriusconinc.com and we’ll get those right out to you! In PayPal copy this text into the notes so we know what it’s for, thanks! My reply from Chris. Normal shipping- prices are rising.
  5. If I recall.........baking soda? Scrubbed in with a toothbrush? Can't hurt to try it...
  6. I had the same problem. Research THOROUGHLY! I found the answer- you will too. P.S. research HERE thoroughly.
  7. Big deal. Everybody and their brother is sueing. Get to the end of the line. By the time they get to your case............
  8. I discovered (as a teenager) that it makes a great machine gun to shoot down flies. My dad whooped my azz for that lol. The basement was a mess.
  9. A 6' Ranger? Ain't no way. I got one of those to use going dirt biking with my son. Ya gotta leave the gate down to fit a Yamaha enduro 175! A Venture? lmao! Not not mention busting ur nuts to get it up there!
  10. I'm not voting on this. A touring bike is many things to many people. It is in many cases determined by finances and practicality.
  11. Consider heat as a factor. With the delay before the onset of symptoms something could be getting hot enough to fail. A coil? Nah that would only be a partial die off... As for the parking lot- if I saw that I'd figure this guy must know what hes doing and probably carries more tools than I do.
  12. Is yours a California model? Cuz mine is and the vent line goes through the rollover valve then over to the left side to the emissions canister. Which canister has an open port in the bottom.
  13. Its a '91 VR. 32,600 miles. Just getting broken in lol.
  14. I've taken the filter off. Blowing into it- there is no resistance at all. In either direction. But it is 22 years old. I'm gonna go to the auto parts store to see about a replacement. But no resistance- is this my problem? I gotta wonder.
  15. Yes thanks. I've been doing some digging and found the thread with automotive replacements. I did put a few miles on and it ran well enough. I didn't really bang any gears though. I have looked in the tank a couple months ago and it was clean. So I'm not too worried about major crud buildup. Still checking the filter can't hurt. Its the off and on with the kill switch thats the wild card to me. That would cause the pump to cycle wouldn't it?
  16. Last week I went on a ride. And then dropped my bike in the driveway making slow speed manuevers. It sat there over an hour till I could get some help to pick it up. It then sat in the garage a few days before I went out and started it up- the expected amount of hassling before it fired. Then it sat for a week. Yesterday I went out and.....the fuel pump clicked a whole lot. It timed out- so I shut off the key, waited a few seconds and on again- and it clicked to timed out again! After waiting a few seconds I turned on and the clicking began again. I thought oh heck and hit the starter. It cranked a bit and fired- but not healthy. It took 6-8 seconds of sputtering before it caught and ran well. Warmed it a bit and rolled out. I went a couple blocks and it died. Still rolling I clicked the kill switch of and on- and it ran! I then went to the store and made a purchase. And when I tried starting her up again the same thing- the fuel pump timed out. At this time the fuel level was about 90%. I'm thinking the fuel pump is on its last legs. This post is to put it to you guys. What do y'all think? Or mabey the contacts I read about are dirty?
  17. You can get a piece of tubing from the hardware store- a clamp too. Run the tubing down to a container. Good way to control that fluid.
  18. I have TS 3. But I use it for online games. World of Tanks, etc. But I never tried to use it real time. I imagine it could be very useful for in ur face mechanical give and takes.
  19. Nice job! But dude........that ain't blonde! Its over-the-hill white!
  20. I bought my '91 as a fixer upper. I found one of my plug wires eaten through by mice. And the corpse of the culprit not far away under the suspension control module in the right side fairing! Musta been indigestion lol.
  21. The more ethanol the longer the supply of fuel can be stretched. Thus enriching those connected to big oil.
  22. My ex was at Stage 4 and given 2 months, then a month, then 2 weeks. Here it is 6 months later and she still giving everything (yes literally everything lol) hell! As far as my daughter knows she is 100% fine!!! Well.......physically anyways!
  23. Maybe u could put it down to me being old school but I prefer carburators. I can work on them. If their performance degrades it is almost always gradual. And gives me clues. Ya sure injection is that one or two percent better. But when it breaks ur screwed. Dead screwed. Wherever ur at- its time for a tow truck. Its either on or off. No fixing it or nursing it home. Your just ded on the side of the road.
