  1. Those little orings on the pilot screws are a tad difficult to get out. Some people use a small crotchet hook to get a hold of them.

  5. Here's the manual http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?3384-First-Gen-Service-Manuals
  6. I had no idea but I was on my way to see son and was already behind schedule due to the weather. I'll be heading back to SC this weekend once Hurricane Hermine finishes his trip. I will likely chase Big Red's front tire.
  7. That's cool! I suppose if I lived there I'd be using the local hwys a lot also.
  8. Wet float level is pretty easy to do. Here's a screenshot of page 5-9 in 86-93 manual. If you've done it on a VMX it's the same thing. I personally have not done it on a VMX but I've seen it in videos. I just use clear vinyl hose 1/4 id. I think I had to heat the 1/4 hose up a bit and force in a #2 Phillips to stretch it out a bit to get it to fit over the drain hose. I put 2 marks on the hose 16 mm apart. I also filed a line on the karber8er body and diaphragm cover. I also think it's best to set all of the levels on either the back side or the front side of the diaphragm cover. I think if the carb rack is not perfectly level front to back then the levels will be different based on whether the reading was measured on the forward side or the rearward side.
  9. You know...
  10. I have no Idea how you do it Don. Magic?
  11. I think you might be right on all accounts. I had already considered the hitch as a "Wheelie Bar"
  12. It would be nice if the pics in this one mysteriously returned Plugging yics ports http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?86100-Plugging-YICS-ports
  13. Did you talk about this problem on a previous thread? It seems like I remember something similar.
  14. ... or maybe colours!
  15. I found your web address on your profile page. If I decide to convert Big Red into a Hybrid I know where to obtain the alternate propulsion system. I have pop set up also and have a few email addresses. They are helpful in monitoring traffic. I do keep the number of addresses to a minimum. I think I have unlimited web space and some ridiculous amount of bandwidth, but I really only use a dab of what I have.
  16. Heading south there are signs that says "No Trucks with Trailers longer than 30 Ft" There was not a lot of traffic. Maybe I passed a dozen vehicles. Even though it was wet and rainy it was kind of lame.

  18. Anyoneelse ever ride the Tail of the Dragon in the Rain? Sunday August 21 I was riding Big Red from Knoxville to Ninety Six, SC and my options were to take I 40 through Asheville and down or to take 129 down to Deal's Gap and then over to Ashville. It was a very stormy, stormy weekend. I had rain.. real rain almost the entire trip from the Paducah, KY to Knoxville on Saturday. So when I got up on Sunday and checked the radar there was the current storm front that was almost past and there was another storm front that was coming in right behind it, maybe an hour and a half in between the two storms. So I kind of timed my arrival at the Dragon to be between the storms. It wasn't raining when I got on the Dragon but the road was wet and it started raining about 10 minutes in. It didn't rain very hard but it was RAINING. When it stopped raining a little I stopped and took a pic of Big Red. You can see the rain on the windshield. Big Red loves the rain. Here's a link to more pics of Big Red in the rain at Podunk Last year. Here's a couple on the Dragon
  19. No. The YICS is only on the Mk1 (Gen 1.1) 1200s 83,84,85. Low mpg can be caused by a number of issues but it does kinda sound like a vacuum leak. That's about the easiest thing to make sure is correct. You certainly do not want to start looking elsewhere until you are sure there is no vacuum leaks and the airbox and filter is properly installed an seated. First off just do a really good inspection of the carb, airbox, lines, etc. everything you can see and feel and try to move. Then you can start it up lightly spray some starting fluid around the carb boots, lines, etc. The rpms will go up if the starting fluid is sucked in a vacuum leak. Be Very Careful when spraying starting fluid around the engine! Just use little pst, pst, pst shots.
  20. It's probably his work truck. He probably a painter or something and heeds the ladder at work. I have a friend that I grew up with in Key West that lost his DL and so he towed his stucco tools behind his bicycle. It was something similar and kinda catchy but not a ladder. That is very clever. The white wheels are the best part. I don't know what else he'd use it for unless he was harvesting fishing poles.
  21. That's a beautiful bike. I do believe I'd never want to stop riding it! Nice!
  22. Jack it sounds like a scam to me, too. When my website was commandeered for spam My server/hosting service cleaned it out for me. I'm certain your hosting service wouldn't be contacting you to clean up their server. What is your website?
  23. I'm not sure if it's politically correct or not. I would however direct you to Rule #1
  24. Somehow I sensed that one coming. I just knew it! A premonition I guess. Hey, I must be psychotic! Er...eh...Psychic, that's it! Yeah, that's what I meant, psychic! I must be psychic!
