I just replaced mine last week. I have the proper crimper and have thought about making up a few sets. I'm out of town. At the moment I'm out of town. I'm in Wingo, KY and weather permitting I should be on the Tail of the Dragon this afternoon, SC tonite and back home around Tuesday or Wednesday. I was planning to order the cable and terminals next week and make about a half dozen sets. If you would like I'll measure my old ones for you. Heather -

I have a couple of suggestions 1. Look through the entire First Gen Read Only. All of the info in that section is important to know and many of the solutions you seek you will find within. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/forumdisplay.php?13-First-Gen-Tech-Library-READ-ONLY But, definitely take the time to pretty thoroughly review this section. 2. Order these two videos from Damon Ferriaullo. They are "Vmax Engine Reassembly" and Complete Carburetor Rebuild" http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?84030-DVD-of-1st-gen-motor-amp-carb-rebuild-process-purchase-info 3. The popping is probably caused by a lean air/fuel mixture created by: Pilot screw adjustment Check for vacuum leaks around the carb boots(manifolds), YICS lines, Boost Sensor vacuum line, Air box to carb Next I'd revisit the Air Cutoff Valves. Their purpose is to prevent that popping. That's the little diaphragms inside the round-ish plate that you described here. You mentioned that the shop didn't install one of them properly. Maybe...maybe exhaust leak. -

Watts is in Los Angeles, CA. The riots were in 65 or 66. It didn't have a lot to do with Johnson. It was rooted in the same reasons as recent and current uprisings.

Mine did not require an appraisal and no money down. At 6yrs into a fixed 30yr @ 6.5% to fixed 15yr @ 3.875%. The payment stayed in the same range but cut 9 years off. I am self-employed which always makes it harder. The program was designed to help people with really high interest mortgages such as variable interest rate loans but it also includes loans that were not really high at all. When I bought the house in 2007 the 6.5 fixed was pretty good for being self-employed. There are some requirements but HARP is about as easy and inexpensive as it gets. Quicken Loans handled it really well and we were quite satisfied.

Here is HARP Home Affordable Refinance Program. I went with this program and went through Quicken Loans. Our mortgage terms were improved so much that we cut NINE YEARS off of our mortgage. We kept our payment about the same, reduced our interest rate by almost 3% resulting in reducing our loan by nine years. It's probably worth looking into. I have no idea if it was ever off before. This was on my 86 parts bike. What led to PB Blaster is that I fought with the one on Big Red and could not get it to budge. For over an hour I used cheaters and whacked the puller shaft/bolt with a 2 1/2 lb hammer and it wouldn't budge. I had to leave for a couple of hours so I took the puller off, sprayed PB Blaster and put the puller back on. I returned about four hours later added tension on the puller, whacked it once and it came loose...hmmm? I was amazed at how easily it then came off. So when I went after the one on the parts bike I sprayed the PB Blaster on it and it came right off... in like 30 seconds, maybe 30 seconds... hmmm? It actually took longer to install the puller. I have no idea if either one has ever been off and I can't swear that the PB Blaster is the magic bullet but I am certain that I will never attempt removal of the flywheel without it. I've read a lot of threads that talk about how hard they are to remove, but I've not seen anything about them being easier the second time around. I may have simply gotten lucky. Sometimes it's better to be lucky than good! YG -
Honest to God... it came right off.. smooth as silk. After I removed the the rotor bolt, the one with the squirrely little wire in it, I sprayed PB Blaster on the shaft/rotor juncture and proceeded to install the puller. I secured the crankshaft from turning by putting a 1/2" extension through the puller bolts and added a lengthy cheater so as to jamb the crank from turning when I get with it on the puller center bolt. The PB Blaster must have traveled down the keyway. There was not a great amount of resistance turning the puller bolt with just a 1/2" breaker bar with NO cheater. It just slid right off. Was I ever pleasantly surprised! PB Blaster... your're the man! (Well, maybe not... Mick Jagger is the man... 72 and a baby on the way! Way to go Mick!)

The spec is on page on page 7-16 of the 83-85 manual. It gives the procedure for using the Yam Electro tester. The spec is .24 minimum gap. I'm guessing that he procedure would be the same using a spark gap tester from your favorite auto parts store YG

Those fit 5mm allen key hole. The listing states that they are for a 6mm bolt which uses a 5 mm allen key.
