  1. Will the ATF Home Brew damage plastic?
  2. The bike faired far better than i did. Scuffed the fairing and bent the shifter. Road rash on my helmet.
  3. Thank you for not going there. I find it hard to believe that there is no one in the Memphis, TN area with a carb tune that can help me out. I don't mind paying for the help. heck i'll by ice cream if it will get the job done.
  4. So haven't posted anything for a while been recovering from a spill. As it turns out Pine needles are VERY slippery, First Gens are very heavy and roads are very hard. This concludes my PSA. On a side note bruised ribs hurt like the devil. Anyway now for the help section. I had to have more carb work done and will be installing new boots soon. Is there anyone in the Memphis area with a carb tune? Also does any one have a shifter that fits a 1993 Royale, mine got bent in the spill. Gonna try to straighten it but my luck says it will break. Thank you guys for all the great help and remember The are the fastest
  5. I have the same thing on my bike and was told that is one of the jets and it has come loose on the other side. You have to split the cabs to repair. Mine is in the shop now cause the guy that cleaned my carbs didn't tighten them correctly and 3 of them backed out. Great lose of power and poor gas mileage. Sorry
  6. Would this be the cause of the lost power and bogging? I had the carbs cleaned at a shop in Memphis in June. Should I contact them and have them repair or is this something that just happens over time? Never mind things don't just come loose and fall out. I will be contacting them on monday to arrange for them to correct this issue. Thanks for the help you guys are great. Kevin:cool10:
  7. Rode the bike to work today, still bogging. On the way home it started trying to run right. It would surge the go back. I took the air box off to look for leaks and while i had it off I unpluged the TCI and think i found part of the problem. The smaller connector was green not copper. The larger looked alittle better. Cleaned them with contact cleaner and plugged back up. I have attached some pics of my carbs. If you look at photo 1 and also the carb in the uper right of pic 5 the slider looks different. The brass sleeve the slider shaft goes through is pulled away from the wall. Is this a problem? Another of the carbs was like that and i just pushed it back into place. Are they suposed to move like that? THANKS Kevin
  8. I have not checked for vac leaks yet. It is on my list. Kinda scared to spray around a hot motor.
  9. Ok so i checked the boost sensor again and this time there was a change in the rpms. So i thought maybe it was a fuel problem. I had some sea foam intake cleaner so i started the bike and co-minced to soaking the carbs. The amount of smoke and the smell was unbelievable. I don't think we will need a bug truck spraying for awhile. So while cleaning the bike started running bad. I thought it must be the sea foam. Well it died and when i tried to restart the fuel pump started pumping like crazy and the bike would not start. I looked at the fuel filter and it was empty. The bike had gas in the tank. Went to the fuel shut off and moved it to reserve and the filter filled back up and the bike started. After all that I sprayed some more cleaner in the carbs and went inside. Get on the bike to come to work this morning and it is running alittle better. I get to the stop sign at the end of the street and the bike is idling at 3000 rpm. Drive to the gas station(13 miles) and it is still idling high. Shut off, fill with gas and restart it is idling fine. Ride to work (46 miles) bike still not right. I think the problem is fuel delivery now. Going to get a new filter this afternoon and try that. Could the carbs have come out of sync and cause this?
  10. Thanks Frank I will test again when i get home at a higher rpm.
  11. Yes the hose was unhooked when i blew through. I forgot to mention that on all test rides if the rpms got to 4500-5000 the bike would regain power as long as the rpms stayed up. Doesn't that also point to boost sensor?
  12. New info on the loss of power. Today I checked the fuel filter and fuel pump, both are good. With the bike cold it still has no power. I found what i think is the boost sensor hose (see 1st pic, hose with white connector) and applied vacume (sp) and no change in idle at all. Took a short ride with the hose lose and no change in condition. I looked at the hose and it appears to be in good shape. I could blow though it. Could the boost sensor be bad and if so how do you get it out and where do you get a replacement? Also what is the canister in the second pic and do i need it? Thanks for all the help. Kevin
  13. When I checked the plug wires I had spark at all 4 wires. The motor was hot so I didn't pull the plugs. Whatever it is it happened overnight while sleeping.
  14. Ok checked gas cap and it popped right off. Took the air box top off and the slides are dancing when you hit the gas. They don't all return to the same spot though. But the real question is do you need the flat washers in the wires and what does a black resistor mean? BTW the plugs are only a couple old but the wires I have no idea, they came with the bike. 76000 miles:puzzled:
  15. I will try the gas cap and report back.
  16. It idles ok and seems to rev fine. I think it has something to do with wires but not sure.
  17. On the way to work this morning the 93 lost pulling power. Idles ok but when you try to take off for a stop it is like you are in second gear. I took the plug wires off each cylinder one at a time and have spark. I took them apart and cleaned them as described here. The front right resistor was black and there was no spring. Is that bad. I didn't have a meter so couldn't test. Also noticed there are no flat washers in any of them. Are they important and could any of this be my power problem? Thanks Kevin PS would like some phone support if anyone is willing. Thanks again:confused:
  18. DO NOT BUY AND RUN FROM THIS SITE!!! As a public service in the interest of safety for all concerned the good people of the forum are trying to remove all 1st gens from the general public. What we ask is that you let us know if you see a 1st gen for sale we send a member in that area to purchase so nobody gets hurt. These bikes are scary fast, esp. the blue ones. The amount of time spent riding and cleaning and adding stuff is bad for marriages. Finally it appears that 1 bike is not enough so then money becomes an issue again bad for marriages. If you need me i'll be in confession for awhile and i ain't catholic. If you find a good one buy it you won't be disappointed and join this site it is the BEST:rotf:
  19. Seems to be on the right side maybe behind speedo
  20. Thanks guys. I will clean the switch and see what happens. Just hard to see why it works with the switch on (Brake lights light up and back to running lights) but with the bike engine running the first time you pull the lever to engage the brake the light you can hear something clicking in the faring but the light never goes back to running lights. I hope that makes sense.
  21. The switch works fine as long as the bike is not running(key turned to on). Only when the bike is running does the light stay on. As soon as you cycle the switch the light goes back to working.
  22. So I noticed my brake light was on when i started the bike this morning. No problem mess with the front brake lever and off it goes. Get home this evening and the light is stuck again and wont turn off (bike running). Shut off bike mess with lever light goes out. Work lever several times and seem to work fine (gonna clean this weekend anyway). Start the bike up and hit the brake light stuck again and wont go out until you cut the bike off. What in the world would cause that?
  23. You can't trust them in my part of the woods. The maps name the roads one thing and the signs at the road are something else. We tried to follow one to a water park and wound up at a chicken farm. You could see the slides off in the distance so we got there. LOL:rotf:
  24. I live just south of memphis. I have never done anything like this so would need ALOT of help but would be willing. BTW Elvis is dead. I seen the grave and the toe tag.
