  1. Dano is the best!! This is the one I was thinking about: http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=68374 It's listed for the 1st Gen but I would think it would work equally well for the 2nd Gens.
  2. Jack- Isn't there an aftermarket rectifier out there? Dave
  3. Welcome to the best site!! The V-4 in these love the RPMs. The sweet spot for these are about 4000 rpm. That will sound wound up, especially if you've come from a v-Twin. I don't use 5th unless I'm 75 plus most of the time. Enjoy the ride!! Dave
  4. I don't know if it will fit or connect but....JW Speaker says that it's a High Beam configuration only. That could be an issue. Dave
  5. I'll get you some pics in the morning. I'm not sure what the costs should be. Make me a fair offer and cover postage, and it's yours. Do you have an email to send the pictures to? Dave
  6. I have the bottom halves of both the right and left bags from a two tone brown '86. Just let me know if that's what you're looking for. Dave
  7. Looks to me like you got to know some Mormon Crickets up close and personal.
  8. With the splitter as part of the 1st Gen system, I couldn't get a good SWR match on my '86. I did the Marshall Mod (two antenna system) and put 4' Firestik antennas with adjustable tip and have had good radio and CB since. Worth the change over. Dave
  9. I would suggest cleaning out both clutch and brake cylinders with an eye dropper, or the likes, so you can refill it completely with clean fluid and then bleed them. The rear master cylinder is harder to do. I would verify the manufacture date on the tires. They may look good but tires deteriorate whether ridden on or not. With only 2 tires on the road, you will want to make sure they are the best. Make sure the tire pressure is up. Change the oil, nothing better for the bike then fresh oil and filter. Check the air filter maybe even change the fuel filter. Drain the fuel tank and refill with new fuel and a heavy dose of Seafoam, takke it for a short ride and to get the Seafoam throughout the carb and let sit for a day or two....then take for a nice long ride. When you get back, change the plugs out and sync the carbs. Enjoy your bike!! What a great buy. Dave
  10. There are some beautiful canyons to ride in Utah. From Evanston Wy you can ride Hwy 150 over the top (Mirror Lake Hwy) to the Park City area and on in to Salt Lake....please stop in a say "hi" There is East Canyon, Hwy 131 from Fairview to Huntington, Joe's Valley, Hwy 12, etc. There are also National and State Parks. Many can be enjoyed from your seat on the bike. Arches National Park near Moab (fun to ride and many of the arches can be viewed from the vehicle or a very short walk), Canyonlands Natl Park (some great twisties and great views from the road), Dead Horse Point (some short walks to enjoy). Zions Natl Park over near I15 (St. George). During the summer months you can't drive through the entire park but they have a bus service to take you to the different sites and many of the drivers are knowledgeble about the park. If time allows, we might be able to go along on some of it as personal guides. You might have to plan another trip so you can enjoy Colorado.. Dave
  11. You must have air trapped in the lines still. You need to bleed the rear caliper, then the left front and last the bleeder by the steering head. Good luck! Dave
  12. I didn't have my photographer with me today. I'll try to do better on Monday's ride. I've been properly chastised.
  13. Come visit and I show you some great roads! Dave
  14. In the words of ZZ Top. Every girl crazy 'bout a sharped dressed man. Good on ya puc!!
  15. Jan and I are at the Temple Riders rally in Logan, Utah. Today was my first long ride on the '99. Logan to Soda Spring, Id was the first leg (75miles). It was cold and raining, but she kept me warm and dry. Next we rode over to Afton, WY (76 miles) and had a great lunch at Agave Mexican restaurant. This section was some spectacular scenery. Finally south through Garden City and back to Logan (132 miles). Great Day on the bike and the first 282 miles on canyon roads. Big smiles here!!
  16. There is only one tank on the bike. The difference between the "regular" and "reserve" tank is that the reserve setting can access the bottom part of the tank. Each warning light is a little different. After you get the warning light and fill the tank shortly thereafter, you'll know pretty well how "your" bike does. My '86 typically hit the warning light when the bike had used 4.3 gallons of fuel. That leaves a gallon to go. I usually get 32-35 mpg on the bike and so I knew if better fuel up within 20 or so miles of when the light came on. Go ride and learn how your bike works. Dave
  17. Utah is a little on the warm side today (92* and almost 20* above normal) but it's a great place to hang out! Stop by and say hello when you get to Salt Lake City. Dave
  18. That's a great trip you have planned. Love to meet up with you, should you be coming through Salt Lake. Even have a empty bed if you need it. Dave
  19. Annie so sorry to hear about the fall. Hope you heal up quickly!! Time to make that uneven spot a ramp instead of a step....or install a softer floor:whistling: I don't bounce either any more....tried (I repeat tried) to play softball the other night. Sad thing is I'm thinking about doing again. Some lessons are just harder to learn. HUGS to ALL Dave
  20. Let us know when you'll be in the Salt Lake City area!!
  21. I haven't looked at the trunk for years and didn't pull it from the bike originally. It has some issues but may be better than yours. The latch mounts are the tough issue. http://i470.photobucket.com/albums/rr70/utadventure/101_0758_zps9cb4067d.jpg http://i470.photobucket.com/albums/rr70/utadventure/101_0759_zps8281b3c8.jpg http://i470.photobucket.com/albums/rr70/utadventure/101_0760_zps535953e7.jpg
  22. I have a full two tone brown from an '86. Tell me what it's worth. Dave
  23. I don't have any pics of the first bike we bought, but we married in 1979 and soon thereafter bought a new, off the showroom KZ250 in red. We both rode it and had a great time. One Saturday we rode it 2 up to a family reunion 45 miles north. Even being skinnier 35 years ago, the seat was not very good. After a couple of years, we sold it when we started having a family. 25 years later, we started over again with a Yamaha 750 and a Suzuki 650. http://i470.photobucket.com/albums/rr70/utadventure/1980-kawasaki-z250c-red_zps982016ff.jpg
