  1. Listen guys I just have to throw this in cause i keep hearing how heavy and unmanagable the venture is expecially in parking lots. You have just got to learn the correct techniques to ride this beast. Once you have learned you will find it is a very nimble preformer even in the tightest parking lots! Im not anykind of fantastic rider but I did get the ride like a pro video last year and took the msf advanced course and before that I would have agreed with every "hard to ride "coment ever stated here. I use the techniques learned and I will put my bike up against any bike at slow speeds( except maybe a trails bike and thats just because i dont know the technique to stand a venture on its back wheel while jumping over a car!) Just had to say this. A bike is a bike and it doesnt matter how heavy! Jack in los osos ca:rant:
  2. SilvrT: youre forgetting she is 6ft tall and can kick your butt! Jack in los osos ca
  3. Thats funny Jack cause I turn my bars to the right when lifting it up on anything but flat.. makes it a heck of a lot easier for me than the left. Anyway. My wife always gets on first while its on the stand to i have to pick up the whole banana. to each his own.. As far as the original question. My wife and I are each about 180 and but the time i get the trunk loaded and another 30 lbs in the roll bag on top of the 10lb limit rack I notice a bit of a difference. I just have to be a bit more careful to be upright when stoping. As soon as i have just the inkling of movement the bike becomes nimble. ( i actually prefer having her on the back) By the way, The ride like a pro video magically took off about 300 lbs from my venture. Don't ask me how. I use his techniques always now! the other jack in los osos ca
  4. The horn saga has come to a end i hope. I found that the pink wire is the one that comes from the horn button so i took off all the cowling and looked carefully at all the connectors that had pink wires in them.. Not sure whick connecter was the culprit but after putting them all back together the horn works fine with no feedback through the cb. I just love electionics! .. Jack in los osos ca
  5. Rod!! You're one of them there darn geniousessssssss huh? I know a lot of guys told me its a possible ground but I wasnt considering the button ground instead looking at all the other grounds.. Guess i forgot the button goes to ground. I was about ready to just forget the airhorn and scream at the cars that needed my attention. Anyway, I bypassed the button all together and "wala" zero static on the cb while blaring the horn.. I took off the horn button hoping it just grounded itself to the handlebars but it doesnt. It has two wires so one must go to ground somewhere. Anybody know where it goes??? Thanks again for figuring that out Rod Jack:cool10:
  6. thanks bongo. ill give that a try. not sure if ill keep it that way cause of looks but at least ill know. Jack in los osos ca
  7. I did the seperate ground Ron to no avail. I agree with you about not blaring the horn but if i have my intercom on headset this feed back is loud enough to blow my ears off not to mention blowing my wife off the back? jack
  8. ok. Here is the report on the stebel horn saga.. Took the bike out and ran it without the helmets pluged in and still have the feedback through the speakers. One thing i did discover is it is comming only through the cb and not the radio as previously thought ( I thought i turned off the cb but didnt!) Now that i know its the cb I took off the ant and guess what no feeback at all. The horn works perfect. So next step was to run a ground wire direct from the battery to the base of the cb. Didnt work! Then i just reached up and grabbed the little ball on the cb antenna and again the horn worked perfect without any feedback. So i now have a fix. I will just yell horn before i push the button and my wife can grab the little ball on the antenna!!! Simple! Btw if anyone can tell me how do do this while im alone or maybe has a different idea I'd sure like to hear from you?? Jack in los osos ca
  9. yea. i had feedback with the stock horn only on the cb. Now i have it on the speakers with my mp3 or radio on. Doug in clovis thinks it may be comming right through my mic and to the system. This will be easy enough to check .. ill go ride and unplug my headset.. report to follow. jack in los osos ca
  10. There is a huge archive of the stebel air horn but i did not see anyone having a problem i have encountered with feedback through my radio> when the radio is on (or the cb) and the button is pressed there is a loud feed back through the speakers. So much so im afraid of blowing the speakers not to mention my ears if i have HS slected. I installed it according to the instructions that came with larrys bracket. The only difference is i put in a seperate acc relay first which will also control my future heated grips and driving lights so everything goes off with the key. This first relay is fired by the acc pigtail located under the seat. Perhaps I should have fired it from a tail light wire or something? I have heard no one else with this problem? You guys always have suggestions. thanks Jack in los osos ca:confused24:
  11. This just may be do-able Rich. We may be in Livermore sat night anyway. Ill let you know before then. Jack in los osos ca
  12. You know i did it and took off to vegas(about 450 miles) last week. After about 200 miles i relaxed a bit figuring it must be right but i needed the reinforcement from you anyway.. thanks again.
  13. I recently changed my rear tire and when i took it into the shop to have it mounted they took out the two spacers inside the hub. They wernt sure which way the long spacer went back into the hub.( this is the one that slides into the roller bering). It has a milled or reduce end on one end about 1/2. Anyway after lots of debating ( the service manual doesnt show) on which way this goes back in to the hub i decide to put the milled down part frist into the hub.. Was that right cause not i have a lot of grease on the rim of my wheel, which may have been from me being too liberal one the grease when reinstalling. thanks . jack in los osos ca
  14. Bev and I are going to try to pencil it in!! The other Jack too in Los Osos cA
  15. Guess I could just shave my head and it would fit!
  16. Givbel: Hey great idea bro.... lets say its an xl.. but scorpions run a bit small. I wear a xl in hjc and this xl is a bit tight. I would have used it myself if wasnt tight. Jack:confused24:
  17. Bought my wife a scorpion open face Exo 200 helmets in blue.. Wife wore it for about an hour and decided she wanted closed face again. So we went out and got the scorpion closed. Anyway,, any venture rider who whats the open can have it for 70 bucks del in the usa. Cost me 100 plus there is a extra light smoke visor that was 24 extra.. all yours. The blue is really close to the 07 venture but not a perfect match. jack
  18. chollahan: Since the other plug is about useless now , i would do a test and soak it in a cup if gas just to see what happens? At least you would know. Jack in Los osos ca:080402gudl_prv:
  19. I just downloaded the latest version of garmin mapsource and just like magic i can not check the routes box to transfer. How bout that! thanks for the help. Jack in los osos ca:cool10:
  20. Yep, no problem opening up the transfer. Map source transfer box will only allow me to check the transfer maps box and not the transfer route box.
  21. I am just missing something here buddy. I can make the route on map souce but cant download the route. I can download the maps from mapsource to the gps though. Jack
  22. I cant figure out how to download a route from mapsource to my garmin 550. I can make the route on the computer and I can find the gps to download to but the download screen will only allow me to check maps and not routes so I am not able to get the route to my gps. Thanks Jack in Los Osos ca:think:
  23. randy; the zumo also comes with the mount and the 2200t doesnt.
  24. Randy; A fellow over in delphi venture forum and me were discussing the 2200t as a possible gps. He bought it said that he was not happy with it because of the fact it didnt show city names no matter what the zoom level. You have to enter the city you want and it will take you there but will not show you any cities you are passing. I didnt like this because i might see a side town on the map that i may want to detour to see. I went down and checked it out and it only shows roads but no city names. The zumo i so much better onthe map that i ordered one. Jack in los osos ca
  25. I just ordered one of them there gadgets also for about the same price. Originally i wanted the cheaper magellen 2200t but decided against it for lack of a motorcycle and not showing cities on the screen. Jack in los osos ca
