Good point. However try logging out and then accessing the list, while not logged in. You will find that instead of getting the list you get a notification that you must be logged in as a valid member in order to see the list. On the other hand, call me a pessimist if you like, but I don,t believe anything is sacred anymore. If you have a cell phone, a computer, use the cloud on line banking or e-file your taxes. You are out there in the open and touchable. welcome to technology. , Do You Love It.

With regards to a GPS, and whether or not you carry a cheap spare. Most of us today carry cell phones, which have GPS on them. You can also load a fully functional GPS app on both i-phones and android phones from Tom Tom. The app runs about $65.00 and has free life time maps. It also does not use up Data. I Imagine Garmin must have something similar. Now whether you feel the need to carry a spare GPS or not I still recommend carrying an old fashioned compass and paper maps in a water tight case. Electronics require Battery's which run out and a compass does not. As far as mattresses go, an air mattress will pack up smaller than the thermo-rest types and today their are some supper light weight ones that pack up very tiny. Supper small one or two man tents are great and pack up small but if you have to sit out a couple days of bad weather you may want to consider something a bit larger that you can sit upright and comfortable in. If you feel the need to have some sort of chair along for sitting in look at the more compact backpacking styles like the Helinox folding chair. this one packs up int a little bag about the size of a thermos bottle and is quite comfortable to sit in. http://www.mec.ca/product/5031-086/helinox-chair-one/. Even the small pocket folding stool from stores like wall-mart for about $7.00 can add a touch of comfort without packing bulk. http://www.walmart.com/ip/As-Seen-on-TV-Amazing-Pocket-Chair-Stool-2-Pack/16609875

And that would be a very silly question at that ....as anyone could see I was simply star gazing :starz: Hey there goes a shooting star. 1st star I see tonight I wish I may I wish I might explain to Hugger's Wife tonight so I don't have to live in fright That Carl lied and I really did want to come for a visit:backinmyday: That Saturday He Himself chose to change direction. He is the one who should be afraid - Very afraid

For you new comers, I would like to point out that the list has come in handy on more than one occasion, for more than the occasional member over the years. Plus your getting help from people who know their way around the venture. For those reasons I myself am glad we have the list and would like to see it kept up.

Do you fall asleep watching golf on TV I do.
saddlebum replied to Dragonslayer's topic in Watering Hole
Tried watching but fell asleep as soon as it started ------How does it end?-----which team won? Never mind ....tell me later:draming: -

When it comes to spring The ground hog, may error once in a very blue moon and sometimes the Robins, may arrive a tad early. But come on. The Toronto Maple Leafs were on the golf course (a guaranteed sign of spring) and yet this morning my motorcycle was covered in snow. How is this possible:think:

Now what gives you the notion that we would consider being called Cunucks, an insult. We are proud to be Cunucks. Now its a good thing that despite being fiesty we are also extremely tolerant. If we really got ticked off we would invade your soil like locusts eating all the ICE CREAM in our path. Should that ever happen you would be in real trouble because you would now have to face BIG TOM and explain as to why you kicked the sleeping dog, and caused an ice cream drought. GOOD LUCK WITH THAT.

Hey not all of us are retired. Some of us still work 10 hour shifts and don't have all day to sit and read VR.org. Plus it took me what little available time I had to read through Carls long long story. It was so long you would almost think he was standing up at the front of a meet and eat and telling it.

Hold on just one minute there. I was looking forward to going to Ground Hugger's for a visit. It was Carl who changed the destination saying that due to the delay and the time it was getting to be that it was probably too late to get Ice Cream at Hugger's now and if there was no ice cream it was not worth going, so he switched to ice cream plan B I would have still been happy to just visit. Ice cream or not

Happy Birthday Robbin.

Well although this was not my first ride of 2014 it was the first Non-Solo ride for Carl and me yesterday, going out for about a 3-4 hour ride. Since we were on Carl's turf, I let Him lead. Welllll, True to Form Carl managed to squeeze in, an out of the way coffee and food stop, a mechanical failure, mis-direction, change of destination (thrice), the all famous U-turn (ok not so famous since it did not include a barnyard tour) and last but not least an Ice Cream stop. So yes I can honestly say Carl is in prime shape to do another tour, as ride captain for yet another season of group rides. Ohh I forgot He did leave out a dirt road But 5 0ut 0f 6 ain't bad

Happy Birthday Annie. May whatever you wished for when you blew out those few candles on your cake come true.

You are absolutely right, I just thought I would throw it in as an added point of interest. Believe it or not although we have the equipment at work, I do have techs working with me that do not realize that a battery load tester is useful for more than just load testing battery's. Sad but true.

Hey Goose could this be applied to setting float levels on 1st gen MKII carbs as well? The manual only shows how to set them wet on the bike which is a pain because of accessability to the drain plugs with the carbs mounted. The other alternative seems to maybe check them wet with the carbs sitting level on the bench while gravity feeding gas to the carbs from a container perched high above the carbs.

Flyinfool's test procedure above is a very good one. One thing you could add (but not a necessity) if you want to know amp output of your stator and you have a carbon pile style load tester handy, is the test below. connect positive and negative clamps to the battery and the inductive amp clamp on the ground wire coming from the battery (these clamps can be directional so you may have to clamp it in one direction for the first reading and reverse direction for the second reading). With the key on and but engine not running note the amps on the amp scale. Reverse direction of the clamp (if needed) and start the engine With the engine running at 2000 rpm turn the knob on the carbon pile to load the battery until you pull it down to 12 volts and note the amp reading. Add the amp readings from lines 2 and 4 together. this will give you the amp output of your stator @ 12 Volts @ 2000 RPM. This test and can also be performed using a separate inline amp meter of sufficient capacity connected between the ground cable and battery post and separate voltmeter and carbon pile connected across the battery terminals.

the whine is there to let people know your coming so they are not frightened when you come up from behind ad blow by them. Its the closest thing to a siren that Yamaha could install without breaking any laws.
-
Venture riders yes but more so because of the farm land detour .......I'll bet that first one leading was named Carl.

Just Picked up a set of Dunlop EIII's from Zedno's in Kitchener last month and installed them on my 89. Rode the bike on Sat. and so far I like them. They cost me $350.00 for the pair.

Anyone ever use it in their final drives and if so what is your opinion?

Thank God this thread started so close to spring and that spring is around the corner. Otherwise there would be no end to this thread. A whole winters worth of trying to get the last thread in. :backinmyday:Its getting like a married couple situation with everyone trying to get in the last word. Sure glad I'm not like that. :backinmyday:I know when to stop. Makes no sense to drag things on. Otherwise it would just go on forever. I learned a long time ago when enough was enough. :backinmyday:Yep so that's why I never go on about stuff. I just know when to call it quits. :backinmyday:Just know when there is nothing more to be said. Just plain know when to stop before things get out of hand..................

Don't hold your breath waiting. Like the Eveready I hope to keep going and going and going.

Yeh Thanks a lot Camos. In the end all you accomplished was setting me up for another POKE by Marcarl all because I failed to see the initial date. On the other hand the info I posted in response still holds true RE: were and how much I paid for the decka battery last year (2013 to clarify). Worth looking into if anyone here in southern Ontario is in the market for a battery.
