Opinions needed about Bluetooth communication
djh3 replied to Pro procrastinator's topic in GPS, Audio, Electronics
I have SENA s10 I think they are. WE have had them for a few years now. I like I can share music, and occasionally use phone. I have used the phone feature a couple times, and my son says it works better than the one in the car. Hard part about wife being on is when she does see something she says " oh look at that" But no direction or side for me to look so its a bit of a guessing game. And when I tell her I try to give heads up but she sometimes has a hard time figuring it out. But it is better than the tap and yell deal. -
I would look at Lowes/ HD or your local hardware store and check out some parts. Even Tractor Supply has a isle of what nots you can find something.

Picked Up A Nail
djh3 replied to N3FOL's topic in Star Venture and Eluder Tech Talk ( '18 - Present)
I had a similar puncture on my RSV once. About 3 to 5k. Picked up a bolt and angle sucked. Lucky I was right by a maintenance shop for a sod company. I had the C02 inflator but it couldnt even get enough air in it to start to inflating. I had to put 2 plugs in it to get home. It was about a 3/4" hole, that tire went by by. -
Want to buy Led light bulbs for Signals.
djh3 replied to Sasquatch's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
To have LED not hyper flash they need a resistor. Some are built with resistor's wired into the bulb/harness. Those are usually more $ but will say no fast flash -

First few rides on the 130 will scare ya. It felt like it was going to flop over. LOL After the slow turning of the OEM size, man did that quickin it up. -
Picked Up A Nail

Recently, the tire industry has new guidelines on auto tire repairs. A patch is no longer the go to. Instead they say a "plug patch" is what needs to be done. Now whether that goes for motorcycle tires to IDK. The reasoning behind is to keep as mentioned "crap" out and not corrode the steel belts. But we are in a different construction with fabric belts. A plug is not acceptable in auto industry, but I like many have drove many a mile on plugged tires, same on a bike. But I prefer a patch for sure. -

I just did the lower of forks. Level links didnt appeal to me for a couple reasons. One was the brake bracket thing to relocate and the other was I was not sure about changing the rear suspension shock geometry -

I did the fork mod and then later added the taller front tire. Dont remember the right size but should be able to find it here, or I can go research my maintenance records. Its probably there. But made a bid difference. -
Funny how I thought the chrome looked good. But on a sunny day it sure threw some bad glare. So my Victory has a black cap. But I rode an Indian dresser (not sure which model) but it had a chrome cap and brought back memories. As ET said Brite light Brite light

Ground Locations? Turn Signal Fuse blowing?
djh3 replied to MagicAttack's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
A dim light would lean towards a failing ground or possibly low voltage. If a fuse is blowing its a direct short. Power to a ground directly without going to the load (light, electric motor etc) -
I had some carbon fiber decal stuff and covered mine. then it eventually came off as the stuff was made to go on flat surface. So my son had some Plasti dip spray paint matte black and I sprayed. Looked fine and if I didnt like it , it can be peeled off.

"Engine cranks, no ignition, no error codes"
djh3 replied to videoarizona's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
You probably have done this. But rotate the switch thru a few cycles and see if it starts. I think there is separate contacts in switch that connect ECM to power. If not let me know and I'll dig thru my wiring stuff and get you the info to rig up a switch by pass to test out. -
I took an old towel, tapped it to fairing and then I think a saw horse or something so it kind of acted like a catch for them small bits.
-
Yea it took awhile and I imagine where they are (lower) road chips probably didnt help none. But I take them apart, sand them a little and paint with a Krylon hammered style paint. Good to go.

WTB Running Light / Turn Signal Bar.

The HD touring OEM mufflers are decent sound wise. Even though I had them on mine, on long trips they could get old. 500-600 miles a day that noise gets old. -
That second one there is probably their best selling bike. It's the Indian version of my Victory IMOP.
-
So by chance was it a left turn into the gas station? I'm thinking the switch contacts are "stuck". If you take it apart be fore warned there is tiny parts in there that can jump out.

Any trip on the bike is way better than in a car. I sorely miss my yearly trips with my friend Lynn. RIP buddy

I used the Kury offset highway design. Shoot they have been on 3 different bikes. First was a Kawi 900 then the RSV and now the Victory. They are looking pretty raged now. The chrom actually went south about 2 years or so after I got them.

I am actually working as an assistant instructor in auto tech. You would think with things being what they are our class size would be strong. Actually the China virus messed things terribly with the whole no face to face thing and distancing. And this past semester it didnt pick up which was surprising. But we have one local dealership we partner with that will pay a starting guy over $10 an hour. Which is pretty sad. But the kids of today dont have the values we experienced folks do. If they can do it on a damn phone its to much work and effort.
