  1. Saw that on a brief inspection yesterday. Didnt have any tools or parts with me so I'll probably mess with it in the next couple days. My Mustang seat backrest had an adjustment to it also, although this one has 2 screws plus a heighth adjustment. Thanks for the heads up though. Researching risers now. Looks like a lot of hits for the Barrons but man are they proud of them things. I'm leaning towards the ones the first poster has linked. Even if un-polished I got metal polish and time. (OK not missing any screws. It was the extra holes for heigth. I lowered it 1 hole and adjusted the set screw for fwd to rear and installed a lock nut so it would stay there)
  2. Mine has a utopia backrest on it. I need to adjust it somehow as it is way to far back for me to get any use out of it. I like the width of the RSV bars, it almost is like a "sport bike" feel over the wide bars the 900 had.
  3. Just brought my "new" 09 home yesterday and had some questions on the oil subject while reading the owners manyal last night briefly. My previous bike was a 900 Kawaski Vulcan. The recomended oil change intervals were 7500 miles if I remember correctly. So I'm looking last night and this bikes intervals are 4000 miles? how come so short. I ran Mobil 1 in the 900 partialy because they were what I would call "extended" intervals. On this one, heck if I have to change oil every 4000 it will be twice as much and at ruffly $50 a change for syn oil I think it may have to be Dino oil. Not wanting to get into the oil threads as usualy there are plenty. But being I live in central FL which weight oil would you recomend? For the most part I have been running the Mobil1 v-twin 20w50. Last couple oil changes I would put 2 20-50 and top off with the 10-40 M1.
  4. Well just "officialy" joined today. I got my free trial a long time back when I first started looking at these bikes. Yesterday I pulled the trigger. So I traded @ a dealer that was 2hr 45 from the house on my old bike, some reason the trip home was a bit less. hmmm Anyways I was wondering the same thing on the way home, my back and arms were telling my I needed to sit more upright. I'm not a big guy 5'6" 200# give or take a couple. My lower back was pretty sore but the time we got home. To me it felt like my 900 Vulcan did before I put a set of set back risers on it from scootworks. I'm glad to see I'm not the only one with this problem.
  5. Thanks fellas. I am trying to get my Legends Race Car sold. Have a couple of bites and I hope one of them comes thru. My next step would be call the gu ywith it and make sure its still available and then get the loan done. Heading up to BIketoberfest Sat. Weather looks good so far.
  6. Hmm a shot in the dark here. Whats you alls thought on maybe the coils going south? When warm they are good but cool them down and the resistance goes up and wont fire a hot enough spark. I know you can OHM out coils, but how you would do it to see if its different when cold I dunno. Maybe throw in refridge for a spell?
  7. Put the kids finger in on the oposite side of where its sprung and close the lid to "reset". I know I know, really it probably aint no big deal. But like Davecb said, kid need to learn to keep his paws off stuff that aint his.
  8. I would think if it had a head gasket problem by 9000 miles you would know it.
  9. ANybody know if a fellow could by extended warrenty, if you did it before the orginal runs out? Sometimes they are just way out of line for what they want for them though.
  10. Poor fellow is getting ride of due to impending back surgery or has had surgery I forget. But anyways he cant ride anymore. I had back surgery last year and I feel better riding my Kawasaki 900 Classic than I do driving in a car. So clutch deal seems to be the major issue. Should I have it worked on regardless of if it is squalling?
  11. I am looking at an 07 Venture with about 9K on it. They tell me this bike has a factory warrenty until next year I think. ANyways I was lloking thru the fourms here trying to see what kind of things that might need attenetion I have to look forward to. I read something about the clutch whining (should be a warrenty item). What are some of the other common item that just seem to go bad? Not that something with 9K on it should be bad. Heck its only like on its second oil change right?
