    HID

Yea it can be done in a few hours. Depending on if you want to put a switch on it or the time delay relay deal. The switch option takes longer as you have to have other parts for the switch and LED warning light etc. Now I see the relays are pretty redaly available I think thats probably the best option. This is same unit I have. There are some US sellers for kits and about $10 more and no relay harness.
  2. Borrow your buddies bike for a couple hours. A tape measure and a square should let you measure up some mounts etc and give you a pretty dang good idea if it will work. I had a 900 Vulcan that at the time nobody made a bat wing for. I found the reckless fellows and called and told them what I was trying to do. Headligh size was a big factor on that particular bike. I had a Memphis shades Phat windshield on it at the time. I bought the reckeless faring and between th etwo sets of brackets fabricated up my own. 3 months later Memphis shades comes out with thier bat wing faring. Go figure. I used cardboard and some thin plywood as mock up bracket stuff. Then used that as a template to make the final brackets.
  3. I think I picked up a 4gb from wally orld for under $15 a year ago. These bikes are amazing. What did we ever do with AM radio?

    Be careful!

Jammer, did you contact the guy and tell him it wasnt satisfactory work? Give him a chance to fix problem in a timely manner.
  5. So which one of the 10w30? If running the cage oil couldnt you run the 10w40 or the 15w50 stuff to? http://contentinfo.autozone.com/znetcs/product-info/en/US/mob/102992/image/2/http://contentinfo.autozone.com/znetcs/product-info/en/US/mob/112917/image/2/ http://contentinfo.autozone.com/znetcs/product-info/en/US/mob/103535/image/2/http://contentinfo.autozone.com/znetcs/product-info/en/US/mob/102990/image/2/ Got a coupon for 5 qt for $30 @ autozone. If I can use the cager 15w50 I may go pick some up @ $6 qt
  6. The Rotella in either the Dino oil or T6 syn will work fine up there and down here. I like you prefer something a little thicker in summer here in Fla. Just looked on owners manual and it says the 20w50 is good down to 10c (50f) Are you looking at extended periods below that? Maybe opt for the 10w40, other wise run what you normally do. If you figure your going to change up there, ride some and come back youll probably be ready for an oil change not long after you get back anyways. sure hope I get some of that cool weather in Aug when I head up that way.
  7. Had a simular issue with the wifes car last winter. Car would start, then you could go out later same day or may be tomorrow and click click. So I check stuff everything looks ok. Clean terminals varoom. So I think I'm good. A day or so later same thing. Long story short had battery tested and said was OK, a little low on cca but not terribe. Backtracking troubleshooting second time had battery checked was 200 something cca on a 700+ battery. Best guess was the plates were bad but happened to make good connection first check. So your new battery did you go with an AGM?
  8. Amish, how in the heck did you manage to order up 50 deg weather in May to ride in??? Bad part is looks like your going to have a bunch of rain for your trip next couple days too. Be careful.
  9. Those guys were some kind of pilots. We had a friend that was in the formation that did the deed n Japan. He neveer did say where or if his had the actual bomb. But still those had to be some hardy fellas. Got to rub elbows with some at different airshows I attended with my waircraft when I was active duty. Them chopper pilots from Nam wernt quite rite either. Different dudes but sure am glad they were there. Thanks to all my military brethern.
  10. I paid $10.99 a qt today. funny thing, I got a coupon in the mail as part of the rewards member thing. It had a coupon for 5qt of Mobil1 for $29.99 So I go in and get my 5 qt of V-twin mobil 1 20w50. Fellow rings it up and it dont give me my discount. Seems the coupon is only for auto oil. So I got just 2qt. Then went down the block to Wally world and got a gallon of Rottela. Came home and put 2qt of 20w50 in and topped off with T6. summer I usually run a couple qt of 20w50 due to heat down here. I have read so many threads on weather or not you can run the car oil and which ones it makes my head hurt. None of the Mobil1 oil I saw had green caps anymore. And I think even the 15w50 oil I saw says energy conserving so thats out.
  11. Higher exhaust temps is definatly part of how it works. Also a chemical reaction to the catalyst, but thats way over my head. If it works for you dude rock on. If they would have swung me a deal I'd be riding a ABS model now. But I also belive in the "all things happen for a reason" thing, and its beyond me to figure it out. Ride safe and be happy.
  12. I have seen it around now and then. I havent used any since back in the 2 stroke days of oil and gas mix. They allways made a good fork oil. but engine oil I didnt even kow they made. I think I have 75w90 in my diff. Engine oil I just changed today. Summer time I usually run 2qt 20w50 and the rest Rotella T6. Down where I'm at and the temps I ride in all summer I dont think the 20w50 is going to hurt it for sure.
  13. Bring up some of those vids and watch some evening. It almost looks like it will be easier to replace pipes all the way from the head back. Long arbor hole saw may be your friend otherwise.
  14. Ugh these ignition switch things sure seem to be poping up here lately. Got me scared. I was told many years ago dont hang lots of keys on your bike ignition key as it is bad on switch. Therfore I haven had more than one key on it for many years. Does that seem to be a factor? Or is it just dumb luck?
  15. Yea the guy that did the video I guess didnt realize how hot the pipes had been getting. He was throwing out explicatives left and right once the heat shield came off. I dunno maybe on them it kill performance but I think the manufactures have pretty much figured out how to make engines work decent now with FI and cats and crap timing.
  16. If tail/running lights are affected also I think maybe its elsewhere. You may be able to look up thru the back of the faring by the adjuster on the left side. See if you can see the connector going to headlight bulb. Follow wires with your hand if you can and see if there is another relay like thing plugged in.
  17. Harley guys too. There is a video on you tube of a guy gutting a cat on like 2010-2011 street glide. EPA or HD one of them figured out putting the cat in the muffler wasnt working as guys almost allways change out the mufflers. Then bike has no cat. So now the cat on the HD's is in pipes forward of mufflers. This guy jams a rod and pounds with a hammer to knock it all loose. But it had like just a couple hundred miles on it and the pipes were blue as all get out. Must be getting hot
  18. Look sort of like ths rock gaurds for MX bikes. If its winter time stuff some guys in Oklahoma had these years ago. Hippo Hands I dont want anything wider as it would probably kill the already megar gas mpg. I'm thinking about making a cut down windshield for better visability in rain and might squeak another mile or two out of the mpg. There are some aftermarket faring companies out ther that make quality stuff. But like was mentioned what about speedo and warning lights etc? You having issues with rocks or something whaking your knuckles?
  19. Last antenna I saw bent over like that one was the other way over the house and didnt fair so well. LOL Bob you got more irons in the fire, I dont know how you keep them all straight.
  20. Got mine of e-bay like I said from a autorized refurbisher. Also bought like 2yr of insurance/warrenty thru square trade for around $15-18 for 2yr. I figured if it shook its self apart I could send it back for repair. I put a 4gb card in it and it took about all the CD's I have to fill it. I'm not familiar with the Magellan or Tom Tom units but they may have something available. Check out the link for the GPS site I had earlier someone there can probably give you the quick and dirty or you may even be able to find it on a search.
  21. Hmm thanks Barry. Might have to look into that when its time for me to replace.
  22. I got 2 of the stebel type horns. I love them. The only bad part is when you honk them sometimes the cagers loose control when they cover thier ears with thier hands.
  23. 09 has add ball bulbs in signals also. 3 pins on sides really weird. You can make the standard bulbs work though.
  24. Wow weak link in that bridge found I guess. Saw pics last night, sort of reminded me of the bridge that fell in the river in Mineapolis a few years back. Glad to hear result was more fortunate. Many of our roads and bridges are in structual distress and have not been looked after or repaired.
  25. Oh my $150 for a refurb unit? Man have these went up. I think I gave around $70 for mine. Here is a GPS fourm that the folks there can help steer you in the rite direction. Based on features you want. My top 2 things were I wanted an aux output (not thru FM) and upload of programed routes I made. Also Garmins site. For me Zumo's were out, over $600 shoot all the bike specific ones are high $$.
