My feeling also by looking at the pic, sorta like it went low and the rim rode down into the sidewall and weakened it.......I also see a dent in one of the pics on the rim............Thanks goodness for the sidecar......or would have been a real mess.

Not meaning to hijack this thread, but Todd mentioned a front end wobble at 100+ mph on a Kaw 1000, well back in 1974 I had a first year Z1 Kaw.......903cc........Really quick bike. Well one day a friend stopped by my house and saw the bike and being an experienced rider I relented and let him take it out. Started getting worried when an hour went by and he wasnt back, then a pickup pulled up to the front of the house with the bike and him in the back, flat tire I figured, until he turned around and all I saw was his bloody backside from his butt to his shoulders. He claimed that the front end on the bike started wobbling and bouncing up and down and he lost it, until today I had never heard of any Z's doing that, I had it up to 120 mph right after I got it and never had a problem...........now I tend to believe he wasnt liying about what happened. Believe it or not, the bike sustained very little damage, 1 muffler had to be replaced, handlebars and 1 turn signal and the case saver on one side............I sold the bike shortly after that............

You Fl. riders sure are spoiled, I wish it was that warm when I leave at 5:30 in the morning, its gets down in the teens here in N. Ga., but I still ride and enjoy it, But I do understand you guys dont have the proper winter clothing like maybe gloves, chaps, leather jacket, and gloves, nothing heated for me, just my regular riding apparel, with maybe an extra shirt, long sleeve of course and a scarf for my neck, and Im ready to go and I stay pretty comfy for my ride into work. So dont want to hear abouy your COLD weather in Fla................... Just have pity on those poor northerners who get locked in at winter time and can only read about us riding down here in the warm south, but they do have an option to get out that track driven vehicle and ride it anywhere they can, and thats a ton of fun that we cant have down here, so I guess they aint got it all that bad.

Bob, I am just doing my part to keep people from going crazy during this silly season, maybe take some people's mind off of riding in the crazy cold :snow:snowy weather, I know there are some people out there that cant resist the urge to ride regardless of the conditions:yikes:, so I do my small part to take their mind off of riding:stickpoke:.........but that doesnt stop me from riding down here in sunny temperate Georgia, where we dont get much snow, but it does get pretty cold at 5:30 in the morning when I take my trusty steed out and ride to work, then when I get off its usually pretty good riding on way home, not exactly summer riding conditions but sunny and 50-70 degrees................need I pour more salt in the wound and you will notice even the pot I stir is stirred warm not cold...................:witch_brew:

No more Tail of the Dragon.................
DragonRider replied to DragonRider's topic in Watering Hole
Yammer if you remember, and I am sure you do, I was the second to arrive at Vogel in 2005, I seem to remember some guy on a blue 1st gen beating me there, so we have to keep tradition alive and that guy on a 1st gen has to beat me there in 2009. No more Tail of the Dragon.................
DragonRider replied to DragonRider's topic in Watering Hole
Which one........... -
Dont know why, but it kept going out of adjustment, so I went under the tank and found that the plastic that coats the cable and the adjuster nut had broken and the cable was exposed, so I adjusted it so I could drive it to the shop, but when I went to test ride it, I pulled the clutch in and POP........no clutch, it broke where the plastic seperated. Just got back from the Honda/Yamaha/Suzuki/Kawi Dealer and even though its out of warranty, they are going to try to get Mama Yama to warranty it. They were surprised how soon and where it broke..........we shall see if they do.......so now for the first time in 3 years I am without a rideable bike, since I procastranated in finishing up the Venture, I have to cage if for a week. Oh well the weather aint going to be the best this next week.......rain, and more rain.:rain2:

No more Tail of the Dragon.................
DragonRider replied to DragonRider's topic in Watering Hole
The shirts and patches will still be top notch, the Dragon is always going to be incorporated into the design, so only a slight name change while all else will remain the same or improved, and thanks for the compliments Bill............. -
No more Tail of the Dragon.................
DragonRider replied to DragonRider's topic in Watering Hole
Dan, better re-read the post, about the name........The only stipulation is that Vogel has to be in the name. -
This is a rant that cannot and will not be deleted, Im pretty sure of that........you stated what most of us here feel most of the time. I too am thankful for all that I have especially my family and extended VR family. I have met many wonderful friends on this site and plan on meeting many many more as long as I am healthy enuff to do so. This site has opened my eyes to many things, most of them good. If it hadnt been for this site and the inspiration from others I would just be another member instead it has led me to do organize several meet and eats, rallies (Tail of the Dragon), helping others with problems, as well as being helped by other members, supporting our members in the service, of which there are many, and supporting my favorite charity, St. Jude Childrens Hospital. Without the support of Venturerider.org none of this would have been possible for me. I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving, and will have the merriest Christmas and Holiday season. I have revised this post after several posts wondering why I would change the name of the Vogel event. It has been said that it has become tradition, if it aint broke, dont fix it, and after consideration we have decided to leave a good thing alone. There was not particular reason to change it other than for change, but I guess everyone associated The Tail of the Dragon with Vogel, and thats a good thing. So thanks to everyone for all the great suggestions for a new name, it did get quite a bit of attention and took some minds off of other things for a while, so not a bad thing I guess. But I will have to come up with another contest for the prizes I offered. Thanks again to all.

Its starting now................

Until I came home, needed to adjust my clutch cable on the V Star. Took off the covers that I needed to acess the cable and found that the plastic sleeve was broken right above the adjuster. The cable looked ok so I went ahead and adjusted it, tried it out and put it back together. Was about to go for a test ride and pulled in the clutch lever and POP, the cable broke at the adjuster. Now I have to figure a way to get it to the shop and have a new cable put on. Looks like no riding this weekend, it is going to rain anyway........:crying: I guess someone I p.... off put a curse on my bike..........guess I will quit stirring.............:sign **** happens:

No apologizes are necessary from the moderators, I know you guys have a difficult job to do and do an outstanding job. The ones who need to be sorry are the ranters who just cant accept someone elses opinion without going on a rampage rant......Keep up the good work, you and all the moderators, Don has done an excellent job in finding people like yourself and all the others who care about the people and this site. A great big thanks to Don for starting this family........... Not close to snapping yet but the gift does weigh heavily on my mind...........
