  1. That red thing is the battery electrolyte level sensor. It is normally inserted into the battery.
  2. Yes, I received both emails from you. But not a notification of a reply to this thread.
  3. Is it me? After more than two months, there has been no response from the Boss. I've tried everything. Cleared the cache. Tried it on Chrome. Reset my email address. Turned off notifications for a couple weeks. Turned back on notifications. Double checked my email address. Confirmed that my email engine is not sending the notifications to "junk" or "trash". Nothin', Honey. No email notifications of replies to subscribed threads. No email notifications to PM's. Nothing. Can someone help me? Thanx.
  4. The red one is a Retek Cheetah. https://www.google.com/search?hl=en&site=imghp&tbm=isch&source=hp&biw=1680&bih=884&q=reteck+cheetah&oq=reteck+cheetah&gs_l=img.3...2504.10674.0.11620.15.9.0.6.6.0.138.999.0j8.8.0....0...1ac.1.64.img..1.8.986.0..0j35i39k1j0i10i24k1j0i24k1.unSevmPfi8o#hl=en&tbm=isch&q=retek+cheetah&* The other looks like a Baja Warrior MB200. Sold until quite recently at Tractor Supply, Harbor Freight, etc. It has been recalled because the front wheel falls off. https://www.cpsc.gov/Recalls/2013/baja-motorsports-recalls-mini-bikes
  5. Yes, the 3JJ-00 will work. There may be a glitch in the 3JJ-00, though. It may "hiccup" at steady 55mph, 3100 rpm. The 3JJ-11 you pulled out is correct for the 1991.
  6. I have not been receiving notifications in any form for the subscribed threads despite having Default Thread Subscription Mode: set to "Instantly, using email"
  7. Thanks for the heads-up, Bongo. I follow Snaggletooth on Facebook and yet I still missed this bit of news. Thanks again.
  8. Brooksville, Florida holds a special place in my heart. My Grandparents moved to rural Brooksville in 1958. I visited them many times in the ensuing years. Many memories.
  9. I didn't start the VentureRider Facebook Group, Monty (Patrick Payton) did. At the time he started it, the Group was "open"; as in open to anyone who wanted to join. Don directed that it become "closed"; as in open only to paid Supporting Members of VentureRider.org. I am only an admin (along with Don and Eck).
  10. Thank you, Ryan. May you and Rocinante enjoy a long and mutually pleasant life together.
  11. The "PLATE, seat" is used on 1988-1993 Ventures. It basically acts as a one way valve. The damage yours exhibit is typical; where the "rubber" seal becomes detached from the steel cup. Sometimes the damage is done when the inner tube is used as a slide hammer while attempting to remove the fork bushings. Some people aggressively bottom the inner tube before slamming the tube up to remove the bushing. When the inner tube is forcefully bottomed, the seat plate (sitting in the bottom of the outer tube) is squished and the rubber lip is damaged. Sometimes the damage to the lip is a tear, sometimes it becomes partially or completely detached. Repairs to the seat plate, (PLATE, seat) have been successfully accomplished with Loctite 406. The manufacturer HAD to use SOME form of adhesive to join the dissimilar "rubber" lip to the steel cup. But, I see that you found at least one of the seat plates from Dingy, so repairs for yours are moot.
  12. And if you want the original dipstick, the part number is 2H7-2815A-00-00. This dipstick is also used on the XS11 and until recently was available for about $10 from your friendly Yamaha dealer. There might still be some around at dealers, alternately, try eBay.
  13. I have but one 1983 Canadian Royale in my database, and it is the 17 character VIN, with a build date of April 1983. Do you still have the VIN for your '83 Royale? May I have it?
  14. The exhaust downturn tips for the 1986 are OEM for those later Ventures, whereas the exhaust downturns for the 1983 were a Yamaha aftermarket accessory (ABA-26HCD-08-02) intended to be used with the Yamaha "Deluxe Saddlebag Trim Rail" (ABA-26HCD-08-01). The springs for the aftermarket downturns for the 1983, attach to the downturns and to the Saddlebag Trim Rail, thus springs from the 1986 factory downturns (which attach at loops on the downturns and to a loop on the 1986 muffler) are incorrect for attaching the downturns to the Saddlebag Trim Rail of the 1983. 15. An alternative to "hard-wired" (soldered) that will still allow for easier future removal is a setscrew butt connector. http://www.hubbellpowersystems.com/connectors/dist/bolted/setscrew-aluminum/butt-splices.asp Insulate with heat-shrink or silicone tape.
  16. Dingy says no. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?68550-Clutch-Cover
  17. It was not in my database prior to your submission. It is a 1983 Canadian Standard. That's all I know.
  18. Be very careful that you do not apply too much sealant. Excess sealant will clog the "net filter" at the float valve.
  19. Thank you Richard. How many miles on your Venture? Maroon or blue? Just curious.
  20. Does it have matching engine number (1NL 000801)? What style are the anti-dives? Hydraulic or electric solenoid? Does it have factory cruise control? Is this the color?:
  21. The partial VIN you have posted (there should be six digits in the serial number, e.g. "GA00081?") indicates that it is a Venture Royale (the "1NL"), a 1986 model (the "GA"). AND: As for locating the stamped VIN and engine number, see this pic:
  22. "E1" error may encompass a broad range of defects. Faulty connections. Faulty discharge valve (solenoid). Low pressure sensor input voltage. (Low battery or low voltage due to poor connectors) Faulty pressure sensor. And finally, incomplete solder repair at the nine pin board connector.
