  1. If it is like my Star Venture it will get better and better. My average mileage is up to 43 mpg. This is with 3500 miles on it. Many times I see over 50 as I am crusing around.
  2. I thought the same as Freebird about reverse but I find I rarely use it. I have been pretty cautious about where I park on all of my bikes that don't have reverse. Always looking for that perfect spot that is easy in, easy out. For a 960 pound bike this thing backs easy with using just my legs. It is nice to have 'just in case'.
  3. I have an oil change coming up in 1000 miles. I will do what Puc said then. See what happens.
  4. Finally got to do some work on this yesterday. It is a PIA adjusting the belt on this bike as the bags and pipes have to come off. I elevated the bike like it says to in the service manual and took several measurements of the belt tension in various spots as i rotated the rear wheel. The tightest spot came in at 3mm. Book says 5 to 7 mm. I set belt to 7mm. Put pipes back on and took it for a ride. Most of the noise was gone. I stopped at a friends house who owns a full dress harley as I wanted to check that belt for slack. His belt with bike on side stand was very loose. I would say he had about 3/4 of an inch of slack. He has never adjust ed it in the 3 years he has owned it. We looked in his manual and that said 9 to 14 mm. Not sure if that is on side stand or elevated. Anyway I went back home and reset belt to 8mm in its tightest location. I also removed front cover exposing the front pulley and inspected that. I had said in my other post that the belt was running to the outside of the rear pulley. It is also running to the outside of the front pulley so I would assume that is the normal position for the belt on my bike. I also noticed that the flange on the pulley are not straight up and down but are tapered so the high point of the flange is a little wider than the low point. I would guess they do this so belt does not rub on the flange. I could not see any wear on the side of the belt. I reassembled bike and went for a long ride last night and most of the noise is gone. When bike gets warmed up good a little of the noise comes back. I think this is due to pulley expansion when bike gets hot. Especially the front pulley as it collects all the heat from the engine. I don't know how much the pulleys expand but if it is a couple of thousands it would explain why some noise would come back when bike get hot as the belt would get tighter. I am going to leave it as is for now. It would be interesting to know what the belts slack is set at on other Star Venture on this forum. So for the guys that do there on wrenching check your belt slack the next time you have bike on lift and let us know where it is at and if you have any noise.
  5. Thanks for the replys. I was going to call dealer tomorrow but I will do belt check first. I'll let everyone know what I find.
  6. By golly I think I can smell them. Yum, Yum, Yum
  7. On my Star Venture I am getting quite a bit of gear noise when riding two up. It is at its worst when we are coasting to a stop sign. It also happens when I pull in the clutch. I was expecting it to stop when clutch was pulled in but it doesn't. I have also noticed when looking at the belt pulley it is all the way to the outside part of the pulley. So maybe part of my noise is belt noise. Being that this is my first belt drive bike not sure what belt noise you would have. Does anyone else have alot of gear noise when two up?
  8. On my Star Venture if I have the shield all the way down I get alot of wind plus a whistling noise. Raising it up alittle seems to take care of it.
  9. When I had my 84 Royale the headlight would not work sometimes. I would grap the strater switch and pull it out further and everything would work. The following winter I took the switch apart, cleaned and lubed it. No more problems.
  10. $147 for about 30 minutes of work. Seems high to me. How much did they charge for the stems?
  11. Its pretty amazing how a fork spring change can improve handling. I think the stock springs were way to soft.
  12. Well do your best. I am sure she looks great on the back of a bike.
  13. Looks like it has good arm support for the passenger. The RSV had arm support but the TC not so much. I would like it if you could post a picture with your wife on it so my wife could see it. That is one of the things she misses on the TC. It also looks like it blocks the speakers a bit, but it may just be the way the picture is.
  14. Well, I only have 1200 miles on mine but they have all been trouble free. This darn weather up here just won't warm up, but when it does, look out. The miles will pile up.
  15. Yes, I actually added the same riser as Freebird. I have the bars right where I like them. That is part of the problem.
  16. I like my clutch and brake levers a little below the handlebars. They came quite high from the dealer. I have notice when you adjust them down that the master cylinders hit the handlebars, thus limiting the amount of adjustment. My first complaint on this bike.
  17. Towed mine from MN to AZ about 3400 miles. Strapped front wheel to chock. Ran extra straps from forks just above where fender bolts on to etrack. These had very little tension. On the rear I went around frame by passenger foot boards to etrack. These I keep quite a bit of tension on. I would then check the rear straps at gas stops
  18. My wife and I usually spend some time in Arizona every winter. This year it was the first two weeks in January. We were in the Green Valley area. I see Video Arizona is that area and I failed to contact him. Never even thought of getting in contact with him until I was back home. What area are you in?
  19. I can't answer your quetions but are you aware that you can turn the remote off, thus extending battery life.
  20. I put the heavy springs in my 2007 RSV and really like them. I weigh about 215. The heavy springs really help with cornering plus I put Amsoils medium weight shock oil in the forks. This combination makes a huge difference in handling. If I remember correctly the Sonic springs were much thicker in the coils than stock springs.
  21. I believe the tach runs off of the number 2 coil. That is where I would start.
  22. The power for the lights comes from the white 3 plug (Sumitomo style)plug on the right side of the fairing under the panel and storage box. It is a triangular connector with a cap over it. The trigger for the lights come from the headlight relay and the high beam relay. These are located behind the left lower fairing. These relays are marked by Yellow and blue tape on the harness. Use the yellow or brown wire out of the headlight relay. This should be the one with the yellow tape on harness. On the high beam relay use the yellow wire with a black stripe. Hope this helps.
  23. Did you ever figure this out. I installed heel toe shifter on mine and was very careful with install and I see today it is gone. May try aftermarket snapring as I think oem is to soft and it deforms.
  24. I can tell you exactly where to hook up your wiring as I have installed a set of these. I have the instructions at home in Minnesota and I am currently in Arizona. I should be home next week and could tell you then if you can wait. Otherwise maybe someone else has done this and can tell you sooner. Shoot me a pm to help me remember.
