  1. Watched the whole show and really enjoyed it. How and when did Stuart discover and.decide to pursue audio engineering? Where did he go to school? I grew up around the TV business and tried it awhile. Crazy hours and I didn't have the passion for it. Was intimidated by the stuff Stu drinks like Kool Aid. It's refreshing to see someone loving what they get paid to do.
  2. I agree..I do appreciate all info but the author hasn't made it public domain. No incentive for him to share anymore of his knowledge if it's just going to be pirated. Appreciate your intent to share valuable information but I think it reflects a bad image to our site unless he gave permission to upload. Since he still charges I doubt he appreciates it. Just my 2 cents.
  3. You could say the same for every bike at Barbers. They do need a Venture. 2 Vmax and no Venture? They need to show it's roots. Going to an Iron Butt presentation there this month. Think I'll drop that in the suggestion box.
  4. I can see why Mama Yama dropped that feature on the MK2. If folks are as lazy as me they never bothered to adjust it.
  5. Best to not bring that up. I can hear him crying all the way down here on the south coast!
  6. I've never looked at it but aren't the foot controls adjustable too? Might need to move them forward if so.
  7. I really miss original Tap Magic and original Tap Magic aluminum. Nothing else compares. I was at the Industrial Trade show in Chicago a year before it was banned. They had the longest lines and most activity at the McCormick Center. Folks were buying 55 gallon drums. We all knew it was being discontinued like Freon because of CFC's. Thought I had scored by getting 4 free cans. As soon as I ran out I realized the missed opportunity. Remember the pallets of Freon at Kmart for 99 cents a can?
  8. I love this forum! I learn all kinds of alternate ways to use things!
  9. True. Another way of saying we've been selling you an inferior product but hey you can depend on us now! What irks me is the watered down products priced like they're a bargain. Especially dollar store stuff.
  10. Hmm. might test this on the cat today.
  11. I thought peanut butter was the correct gum displacement for girls hair but that was my wife's area of expertise.
  12. In case you weren't aware the original WD-40 was never intended to be used as a "lubricant". As I understand, it was formulated as a Water Displacement solvent. It was formulated to rid moisture from distributor caps, electrical contacts, etc. It has a secondary benefit as a "solvent", good for removing grease, gunk and funk from nasty stuff. This fact was burned in my memory when I was behind an old man at the quick oil change place one day. We were both outside our vehicles & he told the techs, "Don't lube my door hinges." Several minutes later they were spraying his truck liberally with WD-40. He went ballistic! Accused them of stealing the grease from his door hinges is about as mildly as I can put it. That's when I learned about the properties & purposes of WD-40 & I've been forever grateful for the free education. Move on a decade & yesterday the computer tech buys a can of "new high tech lube" for our linear bearing rails for our laser engravers, CNC's & spindle bearings. I saw the can (WD-40) & I thought, "Stupid geek"! Then I looked at the label. WD-40 SPECIALIST SPRAY & STAY LUBRICANT NO-DRIP FORMULA. Says to myself, "Self, looks like everything else these days... the lines have been blurred." Sure enough, go on the WD-40 website & they now have a plethora of products to address the multiple uses folks THOUGHT the original formula was the holy grail for. Wanted to give a heads up. Just thought ya might consider swinging the other way. Not an endorsement.
  13. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?91963-water-leaks&highlight=Leak That thread is for the trunk. Haven't found the thread about using window screen spline on the bags. Seems like there is large and small spline and I think the large is the correct size. Will keep searching for that thread. I'm curious also.
  14. Was wondering if you would get around to posting this. Glad to see it. Thanks for turning me on to advrider. Been following Abosit's ride through SA. AMAZING!
  15. Just got home from "The Farm". 10 acres across the river in Talladega County belongs to daughter and son in law living in Florida. I go there to escape. Spent 3 hours on the 4wd diesel Kubota with Bushog, cold beverage, Pandora and ear buds. I'm sure it is the high point of my holiday weekend. I've gone there after it sitting 5 months through the winter and it's never let me down. It's a fantasy of mine to have a maintenance day there in my next life. So sorry your experience was a downer. I don't trust anything Briggs anymore. Maybe they make some high end engines that are ok but I've blown 3 from big box stores. Heard good things about Kawasaki.
  16. I know this is not the answer you're looking for, but my fathernlaw/boss says, "Whatever the market will bear." I recently asked a similar question about an Ebay 1st gen knowing members had $2000-$4000 examples posted in the classifieds. Bottom line is I was looking for a "steal" like some folks stumble upon & occasionally celebrate their exuberance here. I was also looking for validation for a lowball price. Assuming you still have the 02 RSV Midnight in your sig (can't look at your profile or prev posts without leaving this page) this would be an extra bike for whatever reason. i.e. Sell for a profit, extra bike so friend can ride, backup bike, desire for that model, can't pass up a deal, what other reasons are out there??? Determine what is a "steal", "deal", "average", "above average" & STUPID YOUR DREAMING price. Determine which price fits your budget & desire. If it works out, hopefully you made a good decision & end up a happy camper. In my case I was after the "steal" & the seller wanted more so no deal even though I was high bidder. It was worth me asking the question on this forum because Bluesky pointed out my "adrenaline factor" (emotions) by stating that counting on flying 1000 miles to buy an old bike unseen & ride it on my 1st Iron Butt was to say the least A LITTLE OPTIMISTIC! http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?118405-What-s-a-decent-running-1st-gen-worth-as-of-Aprol-2016 Don't know if any of this drivel helped you, but it sure helped to get it off my chest. Ebay search could probably be refined a little more to produce the results you're asking for but here's my quick & dirty search of completed listings for used Royal stars. Remember some folks ASK what they want & some folks SELL for what they can live with so when you look at completed listings know a lot of bikes DID NOT SELL because the advertised price wasn't met! http://www.ebay.com/sch/Royal-Star-/50045/i.html?LH_Complete=1&LH_ItemCondition=4&_nkw=yamaha+royal+stars&LH_PrefLoc=1&_vxp=mtr Another interesting "conglomerate listings site" I've stumbled on that seems to have current listings that aren't stale is http://motorcycles.oodle.com/used-motorcycles/for-sale/ Now that I've killed my morning with diversionary tactics I must get back to work!
  17. This past year I've noticed a new trend in my company email (using free default cheesy Windows Live Mail). It's like Noah's ark, two by two. I recieve 2 kinda sorta duplicates of each junk mail. Sort of a male & female version of the same thing. FROM: Is similar: Stop a Stroke/Stopping a Stroke SUBJECT: Is worded different but relevant. 80% of strokes can be stopped/1st sign a stroke may happen Contents look identical. (with light inspection) Always appear back to back. Just wondering if anyone had any insight.
  18. Wanted to go but this is my weekend with mom. Hope all the barber's events don't fall on the wrong weekend this year. Spring vintage meet is soon.
  19. That's one sad looking Pucster! Trying to muster up a smile but just can't fake it.
  20. Calm down Puc! In the TV business this is called "The Tease" Keeps you from changing the channel.
  21. I thought the same thing then saw the thread was resurected from 2010.
  22. Would have probably been the straw that broke the bosses back anyway. Thinking about selling what I've got and moving on.
  23. Watching an 85 Royale and thinking $750. New tires, brakes, fluids. Some scratches, 35,000 miles, 2 owners, runs good. I'm like Puc, more concerned that it gets me from A to B than winning a beauty pageant. (No offense intended Tweaks! It's the heart that matters.) $80 plane ticket, $50 gas reimbursement to get me to a cheaper airport. $100 gas to get me home. Iron Butt certificate because it's 1064 miles away. PRICELESS! $1000 total YES or NO? Well.... nobody is like Puc except Puc. Poor choose of words but hopefully you get the idea. Never mind. Reserve not met. Guess I'll have to wrench on the 2 in the driveway like the boss told me to do!
