  1. If it is the battery or battery connection the lights will get dim or go out during cranking or attempted cranking. If it is a side stand or clutch switch they will not. Mike
  2. What Art said. Mike
  3. Thanks for posting. Mike
  4. The volume control on the side of the riders control panel works for both the head set and the speakers. The passengers volume control works only for the passenger. Mike
  5. Try a noise limiter in the power supply line to the amp. They usually come as a coil and condenser but sometimes a condenser alone is enough. Mike
  6. That thing was flexing so much I thought it was going to come apart. Thanks for posting. Mike
  7. if the damage is not to severe you can purchase insulating varnish. http://www.ebay.com/itm/MOTOR-WINDING-TRANSFORMER-BARE-WIRE-INSULATING-VARNISH-SPRAY-REPAIR-COATING-CAN-/171228254705?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item27ddffd1f1#ht_1276wt_1115 It doesn't look to bad so if it was me I would insulate it and try it. Mike
  8. Thanks. I will take another look at it. Mike
  9. Whew. Well I guess on the hood is better than in the front seat. Mike
  10. Well that answers that part of the question. Mike
  11. It could be something like that. Since my accident my right shoulder is now three inches lower than my left. But the perception to me is the bike requires leaning much more on turns.
  12. No she was stock. Mike
  13. Each person must decide how to handle circumstances like these on their own. I do not think there is any right solution. And for that I sympathies with you. But being right does not always pull a family together. Consider that your daughter and her boy friend have decided to go it alone. Is that what you really want? For me I would consider what I could do to help ease the hardships they will be facing. Without knowing the facts surrounding this. Not knowing if the boyfriend is industrious or a lazy druggie. But assuming some positive attributes. I would have to eat my pride and accept the fact that they may end up with an unconventional family. And look for what I could do to help make it a loving one. I sincerely hope everything works out for all of you. Mike
  14. Perception can be strange indeed. My 08 Venture went the way of other salvage bikes. Whatever that is, she is gone. My new to me 2010 seems to lean a bit more on the side stand. I checked the bolts and everything looks to be ok. Sometimes the bike just seems to lean a bit more than the 08 did. Of course I no longer have the 08 for comparison. Then when turning or cornering the 10, it seems to need to lean a lot more than the 08 did. If not downright scary this at least got my full attention. I have checked for level links, tire size, air pressure, ground clearance and air in the shocks. These all check normal. Both bikes had / have D404 tires. The only difference I have found is the grips on the 2010 have been changed to a heated grip. One without the end weights. This makes the handlebar look and feel shorter and narrower. So could this excessive leaning be all in my mind? Just an illusion caused by the handlebar grips? Could it be a perception aggravated by the odd way my shoulder healed after my accident? Or could there be that much difference in the handling of two of the same bike? Mike
  15. Yes and no. These things can read pulses and tell if compression is low or if there is a misfire. However valve adjustment can be out of spec before it starts to effect engine operation. They are putting to much faith in their new tester. Mike
  16. I believe the left rear turn signal feeds off of the same brown wire as the front left turn signal. So if the front is working the flasher is working. What I don't know is where the junction is located. Where the front and rear wires come together. It looks like you will have to get your test light and trace the brown wire until you find the break. Mike
  17. Try installing the air filter housing without the filter and see what happens. Mike
  18. 2nd gen engines are not notoriously quiet. Mike
  19. Sweet ride. Sweeter deal. Mike
  20. Can you add a sandbag or something to the back seat and see how that works out ? Mike
  21. It is called an amp meter. Put one on the circuit and find out what is going on. Mike
  22. Congrats Gary. You own the wind again. Mike
  23. I agree that is recommended but not by Yamaha. The install wiring diagram does not include a relay. The install instruction takes power from one of the headlamp wires. That said mine is wired with a relay. Mike
  24. A fuse is often added between the switch and the headlamp wiring under the fairing. But not always. Since the passing lights are added after purchase they are not in the service manual wiring diagrams. Each owner installer could wire them in slightly different. IE; some installers used a relay some did not. Mike
