1. Better to find it now than on your trip. Best if luck. Be safe. Mike
2. The first place I would check is the switch. Make sure you have power to the switch. If yes make sure the switch works. Then trace it up to the lights. Don't forget to check the ground. If no then check back to the fuse and source. Mike
3. There was a u-tube video posted some time ago of testing done to try to find ways to stop tank slappers. They discovered that to stop a wobble, even a severe one, lay foreword on the tank. Your post seems to support some of that. Although I am in no hurry to test the theory. Wish I could find that video. Mike Found it.
4. Whoa Steve. Glad you came through in one piece. Mike
5. Turn the petcock off. Disconnect the outlet fuel hose from the petcock. Remove the two Allen head screws from the key guard and remove the guard. Disconnect the electrical connector and vent hose located under the key guard. Remove the riders seat. Remove the tank hold down screw from the rear of the tank. Being careful to note the location of the washers and rubber pad. Remove the two tank screw guards (one on each side) from below the front to the tank. Remove the inserts from the Allen screws. Remove the two tank Allen screws. Carefully lift the tank up and off the bike. Best of Luck Mike
6. Looks like silicone sealant. Mike
7. ups. Don't know why I had Midnight stuck between my ears. But parts are still available. Just not in the right color scheme. Paint may also be available from Color Rite. I hate it when I am wrong. err not right. Mike
8. I see no advantage to removing the AIS. Unlike some of the old air pumps on automobiles it takes zero power to operate. It does in fact reduce emissions with no adverse affect on the bike. The added weight is insignificant. So if you can help the atmosphere, required or not, at no cost to you why not do it. If you are getting excessive popping in the exhaust something else is wrong or the AIS is broken. An overly rich fuel mixture or exhaust leak are likely culprits. The AIS is simply a siphon that siphons air into the exhaust. The engines exhaust is already hot and has unburned fuel in it. Given a little oxygen this wasted fuel HC & CO will burn in the exhaust pipe rather than pollute our atmosphere. The AIS valve is a simple vacuum operated valve that controls the amount and timing of the air entering the exhaust. It shuts the airflow off during deceleration, high vacuum. It also prevents exhaust from pushing back up into the air filter. Mike
9. Most of the plastic is the same as on Ventures through 2013. Pick a newer year midnight and search for parts. You may have to repaint if you can't get the plastic already in black. You can also get used from Pinwall. Mike http://www.yamahasportsplaza.com/ http://www.ronayers.com/default.aspx

11. My new to me scoot is a 2010 Venture purchased from Hinshaw's Motorcycle Store. It is Raven metallic black with graphic flames. The License number is 'Washington 1B0XXX'. Is anyone on this site the previous owner? Or does anyone know who the PO is? I would like to get some history on the bike if possible. Thanks Mike
12. Sorry to hear that Ken. Our prayers and best wishes to your family and your friends. Mike

14. Something about the glass being half full. Mike
15. I don't think there is anything really bad. A few minor issues which are mostly subjective. Some of the parts are expensive but so are some parts on most other motorcycles. If you can handle the weight this is a very good and reliable motorcycle. The biggest issue seems to be 'which color is fastest'? I know the answer but I am not telling. Mike
16. Ok. So why did you cut the glass? Mike
17. Welcome to the site. Mike
18. The first thing to check is carburetor sync. After that vacuum is the inverse of compression. If all the cylinders have near equal compression and carbs are synced than look for a leak. Some people spray carb cleaner around the base of the carb. I don't like it because carb cleaner can eat plastic and rubber. So I just mist water from a spray bottle. if you hit the leak vacuum and rpm will rise. Mike
19. Karl That's just crazy. Glad you came through it as well as you did. Mike

21. The CB is located under the trunk. The antenna cable connection at the radio is not standard (Motorola vs RCA). I am not sure about at the base of the antenna. Mike
