  1. 99 years old today. The State will be raffling off a Copper Chopper this time next year, value of the bike is around $400,000.
  2. Thom, looks like G and H could be Phoenix and the Grand Canyon. My wife has a love affair with the Grand Canyon and is always looking for an excuse to ride up there. If you wish, let me know what your plans are in Arizona so that we can meet. Geo
  3. "Hopefully we can sit down over beers or vodka one day and tell a few VFR or IFR stories! Maybe then the Chief will join us and tell us all about the Indian Ocean and Austria!!!" I'm not only IN, but buying the first round! George
  4. I could tell you what we were doing in the Indian Ocean, but then I would have to kill myself. The good part was that when we were done doing what we done did, we pulled into Fremantle, Australia. Since this is a PG forum, the tale ends here.
  5. ...and your point is? In 1987, I was onboard the USS Constellation (Connie) in the Indian Ocean. We had been at sea for over 90 days which earned each crew member two cans of beer. (Another retired CPO)
  6. If I had to do it over again, I don't think I would have sold the Harley and bought a Gold Wing. PS (Off topic) That smiley face with the hair, sunglasses, and dances is obnoxious. This one: :dancefool:
  7. I just learned that Arizona Bike Week (March 30 - April 3) will not have a daily admission. Last year it was ten bucks. This year they are dropping the weekly price from $50 to $40. So if you are like me who goes for half a day only, you will have to pay $40. I guess I will miss Bike Week this year.
  8. Wife and I took an easy scoot yesterday west of Phoenix. Temps will be dipping down next week to the mid 60s, I may have to wear my jacket! (PS I have lived in both Maine and Great lakes, Illinois. I know what it is like to have pain in your lungs when you inhale.)
  9. Thanks Annie. Spent a couple of weeks in Perth and Kalgoorli (sp?) back in 87. I miss having a pint of Swan.
  10. Stephen, thanks for the reply. I am free next weekend, let me know if you want to meet somewhere for a scoot or a beer.
  11. Rod, moved to Arizona from Eastern California (Lone Pine) in 2006, did most of riding in California and Nevada at that time. Have not been to Cholla State park yet, thanks for the tip.
  12. Hi guys and gals, just paid my dues and anxious to meet y'all. Next few weeks are going to be great for riding, temps in mid 70's and no rain that I can see. I live on the west side of Phoenix in Buckeye. There are lots of cool desert destinations around here, one of my favorite is the Desert Rose on old highway 80, about 20 miles west of Buckeye. Since I am retired, I can ride anywhere/anytime. Please check in, say hey, and lets get something going before it gets "warm". George
  13. Paid my membership last night and just read your post. I am ready.
  14. My wife and I rode up to Yellowstone from Arizona two summers ago in June. On the way we encountered a snow blizzard in Wyoming, and freezing morning temps in Yellowstone. We both have Gerbings liners so it made the trip bearable. Be sure and be prepared for cold weather. By the way, my wife has had a love affair with the Grand Canyon since she was a teen. Ride safe.
