I'll have to look into this! I've got good spark and the bike runs great, but the rubber that meets the motor is totally shot. There's hardly any rubbery there. Maybe I can check resistances and clean as you stated, and just replace the rubbers

You don't think it'll be any issue with it being right by a bolt?

Those Dogface trucks sort of remind me of my 94 F-150. The wind pushing on that truck was almost like someone was literally dragging on the brakes. I try to let them fellas have their room when they go by. That's crazy that it would slow you down enough to knock your cruise off. I never had that issue on my 99. I wonder if all 5 of your throttle cables are adjusted within spec. If you have a delay when you first switch your cruise on you've got too much slack in them lines! It should almost pull the throttle away from you when you set it! The big thing is to not get blown off the road or get a face full of gravel! Ouch! Its funny how those little details sort of make the trip eh? I'll have to run my MKII Venny against his MKI so we can finally settle these speed wars, though I cant help but thing that if @cowpuc was wrenching on it, there's probably something done to it to make it a little faster!!! He is a old school wrench head after all!

It would certainly require a huge shift in driver and rider mentality to be safely done in mass. Although, I do believe that there are times when it is acceptable, and possibly safer to squeeze around a vehicle or through 2 parked people that aren't paying attention. 90% of time when people would lane split it would be unnecessary and I could see people getting hurt

As far as your mileage goes on those 65mph roads, I bet if you wouldn't had used 5th gear at all totally loaded you probably would've snuck back up to at least the 35mph range. I use my 5th like a 6th gear. If that makes any sense lol. You got some beautiful pictures and I'm glad puc could help you out! I imagine the ferry would have been a heck of an experience as well! I haven't had one die on my 88 yet! But I think I may follow your thread and see the route you go for the new pump. I worry about it when I'm 500 miles away from home and as far as I understand the first gen and 2nd gen pumps are the same?

I'll just pick up a handful of gravel and throw it in there! I decided to take do as puc says. Spin the tire 180 degrees on the room. If that doesn't do it i'll be taking the tire off and removing the beads and static balancing the wheel myself. I think I understand how to do it from cowpuc's video. It seems easy, but maybe time consuming. Dunlop has not contacted me back, but I'm sure they're busy. If its still rough after that, I'll be looking into a new tire!

I believe you can rebuild the points on your pump. Then bring your old one with ya as a backup!

Welcome to the site! Just wanna say I'm totally jealous of your new baby on her way. Charcoal or Red they are by far one of the prettiest bikes on the road (IMHO!). You'll have tons of reliable smiles on that girl as well because Yamaha makes a quality machine. I'd also just like to say thank you for talking me out of a BMW. I'll never own one if they are truly as finnickey as you say! You'll find lots of knowledgeable people on here who I hope becomes as close a family to you as they have to me!!!

Did you get the clutch parts you needed figured out?

Just a seam. No oil's comin out of it or anything It definitely would be fixable. But I stopped into our local welder and he's gonna want just as much as one of those used ones off ebay so I'll probably just go the ebay route

BC as in British Columbia? Is that scrap yard a "U-Pull It" sort of deal or could I contact them and have them send one?

After removing and replacing my clutch cover I couldn't stop it from leaking so I cleaned everything up real nice, put a brand new gasket on and low and behold she's leaking again. I got down with my light and upon inspection found a crack in my clutch cover... Will one off a 1200 fit? and can I replace the inside chrome part so it doesn't say YICS and says 1300 like its supposed to? I dont think I should JB Weld this particular spot, and I dont know about getting it welded either.

And I agree it seems like they balance for the rim more so than the tire from the factory. I wonder if I would have left the factory weights on if I'd even notice a vibration

That's my plan, I know Dunlop is a reliable company and we'll get it sorted out! Yeah if you cant throw em in while the guys putting em on then its just not worth the effort! As far as the beads go, I've been reading that the reason why the Professional Racers don't use the beads is that when going over rough surfaces at such high speeds the beads get disrupted and tend to knock those tires temporarily off balance. If I go so far as to break the bead I might as well just remove the beads and get it balanced the old fashioned way. (I don't have an air compressor so I gotta do it at my pa's ) Thanks for the insight puc and I'm glad I'm not the only one on here with that issue!

As far as I know, lane splitting works in England. But I wonder if people in England may just tend to be more motorcycle aware than people in the US. They shave HOURS off their city commutes there (but I think most of that country is city isn't it?)

That's the way to do it! I still like to come up during Sturgis, to keep it going, but I think the best time to come to the Hills and pitch a tent would be right now! Like next week

Do you mean it slips like a beast? or theres no pull when you pull the clutch lever?? Is it froze up?
