Wow, well where to start? First welcome to the group. Ain't nothin nobody can't answer or fix here, you came to the right place. Oil oil oil, EVERYONE has an opinion on this subject. First, use it :-) keep it topped off, change it and the filter and your good to go. I use Rotella synthetic in all my bikes never had a problem. I change between 5-6K miles with a filter each time. Recent consumer reports state synthetic oils should go 10K but I believe they are talking about cars. However my new Honda and Triumph Trophy (motorcycle) maintenance scheduled oil changes are every 10K miles, nuff said (let the wars begin). Filters, yes there is a cross reference list in the 2nd gen maintenance section. I have heard they changed the design of the Purolator PureOne (PL14612 or the longer PL14610) and now they leak. I wouldn't know as I bought a case awhile ago and still have a bunch yet. I was able to mount a fused buss bar and 3 relays (horns, passing lamps, I forget the third one) under right side drivers seat. I mounted switches on the left side under the drivers seat thru the plastic backing of the seat pan to power on/off the relays (except the horn). On the left side I can reach back with my left hand and switch them on/off.

The end of the box is clearly marked. Chances are if it was in a wooden frame it would of still been delibertly broken. I have received packages with tire tracks across it. They have a problem. Wheather it be union gripes, workload, work hours, whatever. I'm surprised they are still in business to be honest. If I need something to arrive unbroken I refuse to us UPS. Have had much better "luck" with USPS or FedX. I will and have canceled orders when I have found it will be shipped UPS and order from someone else that gives me shipping options. With email and "online customer service" or unanswered/returned phone calls the handwritten penned letter is still mighter than the sword. I have written several letters sent certified mail to CEO's to resolve problems. It has worked every time :-)

Upon planning another spring motorcycle ride to Big Bend I stumbled on some sad news. I enjoy Big Bend and west Texas. It's wide open with vistas reaching from horizon to horizon. Folks are "Texas friendly" (afterall the name Texas is based on the Caddo Indian word tejas meaning "friends") and don't think you strange for striking up a conversation in fact think it rude if not given a "howdy" when first approached. One adorable little town Boquillas del Carmen just across the Rio Grande acquired electricity (solar power) just two years ago. What a fun place. You could either walk across the Rio Grande if it was low or hail a rowboat (for a small fee) from across the river to come and get you. Once across the river you could either walk or for another small fee ride a burro into town for about a mile. Have lunch and something to drink, visit, and maybe purchase a handmade item from a pedler on the street of dirt. Just around a bend in the river is the entrance to Boquillas canyon. On the U.S. side is a large rock on the sandy river bank which has on display a number of hand made tinkets and sotol walking sticks for a small "donation". Across the river sitting on the Mexican side was "Victor the singing Mexican". He would sing at the top of his lungs and his song would roll around and echo through the canyon walls. If you walked by the mayonnaise donation jar without donating the song would suddenly stop. I would hold out my arm ceremoniously put in a few dollars and he would continue to sing. I loved it, I enjoyed it as part of the flavor of Big Bend. And now I miss it, I miss Victor, the canyon walls miss his booming voice often louder than on key. I just learned of his passing in August this past summer.

Can't comment on the tires. But your bike - don't know if I've ever seen that color before. I like it - very nice.

I dunno. Don't have personal experience with it, nor have I nor my riding friends heard of it. However, the Venture size on their site is rated at 71H which I think is kinda light and considering your size (and speed). There are heavier 74H, 77H and even 80H tires out there. Triple digits huh? Never had mine wound that tight, I think 85ish was tops for me with nothing left to twist.

Love the Sena SMH-10. One of the best buys I've made for the bike, any bike as I ride several and it goes with the helmet. They have a newer one out but this one works great, I have no plans to change it, this one does it all for me.

Feeling cleaver with myself today :-) My wife doesn't ride on the back anymore for long trips. She'll ride on the back once we get there but prefers following me in the car. It is what it is. I still get to ride and have her around to have fun with at the destination. But use twice the gas :-( Problem is (or was) how do we communicate for the sometimes 3 days on the road. Cell phone is spotty at best. So... I was thinkin... we both have Sena SMH10 bluetooth headsets. They are good for 1/2 mile bike to bike communications and last about 10hrs. I wonder if they would work in the car? I mean she's not using hers right. So I order a new helmet clamp kit (SMH-A0306) which can be used with helmet speakers or earphones, comes with both the "button" mic and the boom mic. Versatile enough, I should be able to work something out. So I take off the metal clamp, put on the plastic "3M stick on" clamp backwards. LEAVE the backing ON the adheasive. Nice ride. Pretty country. Good video, must of taken forever to upload it. Audio was nice too, not too loud and no annoying wind noise. I could ride roads like that all day. Where the sheep a problem getting on the road? Crossing into Scotland was uneventful, maybe a sign. Interesting the way the road kept changing from two lane to single lane farm road. Well BigLenny. The Texas Hill Country covers a lot of ground. Just about all of it good riding. Not sure how your health will be, nor your likes, nor your budget. It is good but they are very proud of it and you pay for it a $20 lunch is common. The "sisters" is a good ride. Fill up just south of Leakey, don't pass up an opportunity to get gas. Believe the 10mph curve speed limits most curves are tightening radius turns. The Motorcycle Museum is a good stop, they charge an entrance fee. Do Luckenbach and stay at D'Rose Inn & Cabins just so you can say "been there - done that". I ride the area often and know it well.

I trust no one. I lock my helmet and jacket to my rear passenger hand rails with a steel cable and keyed lock. You will find my bike at a hotel with a 1/2 inch cable lock thru the rear wheel and frame, a front alarmed disk lock, and a padlock on the triple tree. All under a full size motorcycle cover. With the remote Grorilla alarm on. Never had a problem ;-)

Thatks for the info on SmugMug. I checked into it. Looks nice for photo sharing - got tobe better than Photobucket. Video limit is 20min and less than 3Gb. Which is alot of video. They seem to favor photography. I had to hunt for the video information. Would like to see a video that you may of posted.
